and I'll use you as a warning sign
Who: Fiddleford McGucket, and possibly YOU??
Where: Around the mansion
When: Throughout the week of 9/16 until 9/22??
Rating: PG? I'll change it if something comes up
Summary: Fiddleford has obtained a journal, but more important than that, other people have obtained his things. One of which would not be good to have in the wrong hands.
The Story:
[The Hallways]
[It's one thing to suddenly find someone's belongings among your things, it's another entirely to realize that your belongings are among someone else's right now. And one of those things could very well make living here very difficult, especially if someone realized who they belonged to. Not just for Fiddleford, but everyone else in the mansion too.
As such, the paranoia and stress of the situation has led to Fiddleford pacing the hallways a bit here, hands in his pockets. Occasionally he stops to run a hand through his hair to try to calm himself here, but otherwise he's keeping an eye out for anyone who has something suspicious on their person. Maybe he can convince them to just give his things back and not say anything if they happen to have them, but...
... well, he does have the memory gun hidden in the pockets of his lab coat here, if worse comes to worse.]
[The Library]
[The first thing he should have done when he realized what he had in his hands was the third of Ford's journals on the supernatural was to give it back to the other man right away. But instead, he opened the book and...
... he very quickly comes back to himself slamming it shut and pushing the book to the farthest corner of his desk. As if expecting something to suddenly come out of it's pages, but after a few minutes of staring at the book, even he realizes that he's being utterly ridiculous about this.
He ends up leaving the book behind in his room and wandering off to the library, looking for a moment to see if some of the creatures in the journal have ever appeared in other works. At the very least, it's a slight stepping stone to trying to understand the supernatural like Ford did, right? Even if anyone that comes in right now will see Fiddleford opening these books like as if he's expecting a bomb to suddenly go off, or drops one of them once or twice without warning.]
[Closed to Stanford Pines]
[Eventually, a voice message gets sent to the latter.]
Can I meet with you right now? I have somethin' to give you.

The Hallways
She's just doing what she normally does.
Which is nearly running into a familiar face. Well, nearly familiar. Enough so that she knows who it is, even if she's never seen it quite so upclose and personal and not on a screen.]
Ol... Hey there, Dude. [She's been warned, so at least there's that.] Mr McGucket. How goes?
no subject
Oh, Miss Corduroy--err, Wendy, sorry, I didn't see you there for a moment. I'm, ah... [what do the kids say these days?] ... hangin' in there?
[no he isn't, he's a mess, but he isn't going to say that to a kid]
no subject
[She's seen it in a few, even if she's denying it might happen to her. Even if she keeps thinking about people dying.]
Though you totally look like you're waiting for someone. Or just pacing. I'm told grown ups do that when they can't sleep. Or so the guy that's never been a kid told me.
no subject
Got it in one: pacin' sometimes helps when one finds their mind is still racin' even when they're tryin' to relax or get some sleep.
no subject
Around here it feels like there's a lot to keep you from relaxing or sleeping. What it's meant for, you know?
no subject
[Then again, Fidds hasn't really known proper sleep and relaxation in like... months. What's to suddenly change that now?]
no subject
Least in Gravity Falls we got sleep.
no subject
[... AHEM ANYWAY]
So what are'ya up to? Doin' alright?
no subject
Hang out. Chill. Something making life crazy. Not much different.
no subject
[They're certainly kind enough that they treat the rest of us Gravity Falls folks like family.
Except Bill, fuck Bill]no subject
Except like the twins are sixteen! It's like mindblowing, you know?
[Okay, maybe he does know. Or will. After he keeps blowing up his own memories. Poof.]
But that's the cool part here. All of us here together. A lot of people don't have that.
no subject
Indeed. I'm mighty grateful that we have familiar faces and friends to call our own in this place: if Stanford wasn't here, I'm honestly not sure how else I would'a fared otherwise.
[... probably even more poorly than he already is right now]
no subject
And we'd take care of you. We being the twins and Mr Pines maybe. Since I haven't been here all that long. This time.
[She doesn't remember before, but enough have told her about it.]
no subject
[... But at least Ford's getting better about that? We think.]
no subject
[Not that she totally minds. She gets to beat up unicorns because of it, right?]
Library
It arrived at her door completely solved, and then she ruined it by turning it a few times, and she's been trying to solve it ever since. Every time she comes close though, she's always one or two squares off. She's starting to not be sure whether it's fun or just frustrating, but she's too invested to stop now.
But there's someone very skittish looking through the books near her, and he's a little distracting. So, she pretends to play with the cube, but starts watching him curiously.]
no subject
For Pete's sake... I'm real sorry 'bout that, hope I didn't startle you.
[He reaches down to pick it back up and move away, but then he notices the cube in her hands. A very familiar looking cube...]
Where did you get that?
no subject
It's okay. ...I found it in my room. From RQ. Why?
no subject
Have you gotten close to solvin' it yet?
no subject
It was solved when I got it, but...I keep messing it up.
[She lets him look a little more closely. She has all of the white sides in the correct spot, one side completely done, but the rest of the colors are scrambled.]
no subject
[Fiddleford gives it a look, before he points to one side of it here.]
Have you tried givin' this side a few turns?
no subject
[She gently turns it a couple of times. it brings another side a little closer, but she seems reluctant to do anything that will disturb the side she got right, even though it's pretty clear she'll have to eventually in order to fix the others.]
no subject
[Indicating the one side that she has right so far.]
no subject
[It's a lot harder than she thought it was going to be.]
no subject
[... That's two things, Fiddleford.]
no subject
But...it's enough for her to break the white side, and keep trying to turn it the right way.]
Are you good at these?
no subject
no subject
[Not that she hasn't been having fun, but she's not sure "relaxing" is the word she would use.]
Is there a secret to it?
