Sing us a song, you're the piano man

Who: Blaine Anderson and open.
Where: The music room.
When: Afternoon on 12/30.
Rating: PG.
Summary: Blaine + music room = otp? No, seriously, Blaine finds the mansion music room and makes himself right at home.
The Story:

When Blaine finally set foot in the music room, he instantly became the kid in the candy store. The room had everything a singer and performer needed - instruments and a plethora of sheet music of all kinds.

Blaine knew that this was the kind of place that he could just hang out in for hours. He grabbed the first sheet music collection he saw, sat down on the piano bench and began leafing through it.

Souji's coming by the music room to look for some slide oil and he pauses in the doorway at seeing someone is already there.

"Hi."

Blaine stops mid-note, having been working on a particularly difficult musical passage for the past few minutes. "Oh, hi. Am I in your way?"

Souji shakes his head, stepping inside.

"Blaine, right?"

"That's right." He grins apologetically. "Sorry, I don't remember your name."

"We only met once or twice. I'm Souji."

"I'm guessing that was when I was here before. Sorry, but I don't remember anything that happened." Might as well start over, though. He offers his hand for Souji to shake it, if he's so inclined. "Nice to meet you, again."

Souji smiles a little and shakes Blaine's hand. "You're a musician?"

He nods. "I sing with an a cappella group at my school back home."

"And the piano?"

"Oh, that? That's the result of years of lessons."

Souji nods and goes to one of the cabinets to look for some oil.

"It probably comes in handy."

"It really does. I'm glad I stuck with those lessons," Blaine says as he watches Souji move off to look in the cabinets. "So, what are you looking for?"

"Grease or oil. For a tuning slide." Souji looks up and as an afterthought adds, "For a trumpet."

"Oh, so you play?" That's caught Blaine's attention and also Souji just might have his respect. Blaine never attempted to pick up a brass instrument, so anyone who can play one deserves a lot of credit.

"Yeah. Just for fun."

Souji finds a small bottle of oil and holds it up to look at the label.

"Isn't that the point of playing any instrument? Because others enjoy it and so do you."

He likes playing the piano for other people, but he also finds enjoyment in just playing for himself.

Souji smiles a little and pockets the bottle in his hand before closing the cabinet.

"Yeah. You're right." He'd recently had a friend teach him that lesson. It was a little silly to forget it so soon.

"Can I listen for a little while?"

"Yeah, of course. Anything in particular you want to hear?"

"What you were just playing is fine."

"Oh, that? That was just something I was trying to work the kinks out of." It's not that he's reluctant to sing and play it for Souji, but he's not sure it's something he'd want to hear.

But he said it was fine, so Blaine starts playing his piano arrangement of this song.

Souji's certainly never heard this song. He listens with his head tilted, coming closer to the piano. When Blaine finishes, he claps.

"You're good."

Blaine just laughs and dips his head a bit, smiling with just a touch of embarrassment in response to Souji's praise.

"That probably wasn't my best performance. I'm used to singing with others, not just by myself. Thanks, though."

"It's the same for me with the trumpet." He'd never really played outside of a group other than to practice.

"Oh? Do you play in a symphony or something?" If he does, that's pretty impressive. It's impressive either way, but just getting into a symphony is a feat in itself.
