and the sun was on the rise [open]
Who: Martha Jones and OPEN
Where: All around Truffula Valley during the event
When: April 12th
Rating: PG
Summary: Martha's first event turns out to be a pleasant one, and she's ready to enjoy the sights while they last.
The Story: Going to sleep in a mansion and waking up in a tent is a shock, to say the least.
When Martha comes to that morning, not having been in this odd, mad place for even a week yet, she finds herself in a space that's similar to the room she'd chosen for herself in the mansion, but the flimsy walls and roof make it clear that she's been transported into some kind of bizarre camping trip. The inside of the tent itself is similar enough to the room she'd had, and the closet has even remained. That's a relief, at least. She's already awfully fond of those closets.
After getting her bearings, Martha pokes her head out and finds before her an ocean of color and brightness. Not that Wonderland itself had been dark, but this puts the previous scenery to shame. This must be one of the events that she was told about, but other than a change in their surroundings, everything seems surprisingly calm.
That's bound to change soon enough. Martha knows the pattern well by now. Everything's brilliant and wonderful at first, it's all new sights and sounds, and then something goes wrong. Then again, that had been the whole point of traveling with the Doctor -- to fix things, to set them right.
Either way, her adventurous nature means that there's no way she can't explore a bit, and so she starts moving through the transformed area. She spots some odd animals skittering around and she can't help but smile. They are rather cute...

Because of how light-hearted he feels, he doesn't bother being sneaky around the new people. Just strolls along near Martha, wide eyes taking everything in. He may or may not be hunting the local fish, too.

"Oh my god," she says under her breath, though it's not long before the tone of her voice raises. "Oh my god, you're a dragon, a real dragon." The thrill of seeing something like that with her own eyes outweighs the sense that it might be dangerous, though Martha's cautious enough to not move any closer to it.
Actually, it's kind of cute, which isn't what she'd expect from a dragon. She would have thought they would look more... fearsome, but this one almost looks friendly.

She takes a cautious step toward it, peering up into those eyes. "Are you... friendly?"

Maybe then he'd feel differently. But for right now, he blinks his eyes at Martha and cocks his head to the side — looking more like a giant dog than anything else.

This is unbelievable. Not only has she run into a dragon, but it isn't one that she needs to run away from. (She's used to running away from things. It's a part of being the Doctor's companion, even though she's retired from it.)
"Aren't you a pretty thing," she remarks as she smooths her hand out over it, feeling the rough scales.

"Are you from this place?" she asks as she looks around at the colorful landscape she's found herself in. The dragon doesn't really match with the rest of the animals she's seen here, but it's certainly possible.

(Though she has to admit that there is a part of her that would really know what it was like to ride on the back of a dragon.)
"Not from here, and not from Wonderland either, I'm guessing? So you were brought here like the rest of us..." Since it's hard to reach up to its head, she switches to petting down its neck and chest area instead. She would have never expected a dragon to be so docile.

"Sorry, was that the wrong word? I saw the saddle, so I thought... maybe you belong to someone." It's odd to think of someone training a dragon and flying it around, true, but what else was she supposed to assume?

"What's your name?" she asks. "Maybe we should start there. As for me, I'm Martha." She sets her hand against her chest to indicate herself.

"You don't... have any teeth? So your name is related to that." She thinks it over, wondering what it could be. "Gummy? No-Teeth? Toothless? Defanged?" She frowns, wondering if any of those are close to correct.
She doesn't think she's really the best at naming things.

Although not so much, as its fangs suddenly show themselves, and she can see that its certainly not helpless. Which is for the best, because she'd been wondering how a dragon could take care of itself if it had no teeth.
It's rather clear now that it isn't going to hurt her, and so she draws close again to continue petting it. "All right, Toothless, next question. Are you a boy or a girl?" She could try to check. She's not a veterinarian, and even if she was a dragon is something else entirely, but she is a trained doctor and she could probably sex even a dragon if given a try. But that would be rude when she can just ask.

As she continues to scratch at Toothless' neck area, she looks up toward his face with a smile. "So, what do you think of all this?" she asks, nodding toward the valley with its cotton candy trees.
