Who: "Lily Gardener," the once and soon to be again Lilith
Where: The School (10/24-25), Outside The Diner(10/26-10/27), Around Storybrooke (10/27-10/28).
When: 10/24-10/28
Rating: R
Summary: Lily Gardener's life may not be completely perfect, but it's the only life she knows. Or is it?
Notes: Let me know if you want a private scene and another location. I am flexible.
The Story:
OCTOBER 24th-25th: The School
After the last of the students had been collected, Lilith retreated to the playground, choosing to occupy one of the picnic tables as she reviewed her lesson plan for the next week. Her hair was pulled back in a pony tail, allowing her to lean closer to the papers without her vision being blocked. It was a chilly day, requiring her to wear a jacket, the northern winds harsh against the setting sun.
Everything seemed such a routine. She only had a few hours to finish this before having to go home and relieve the babysitter. Her daughter was waiting and she wanted to spend time with her. How much easier would it be if she had someone else in her life? Someone to help her shoulder the load of life, mortgage and family?
Her life was good enough, at least. It wasn't the happy ending she had wanted or hope for, but what could she do? She still loved a man that toyed with her, cheated on her and dumped her. No one else being able to compare to the one figure that dominated her life. But how long could she allow herself to brood over this or deny the fact that she wasn't happy with her situation? What could she even do to change her life?
OCTOBER 26th-27th: Outside the Diner
She had promised her daughter an ice cream sundae, wanting to give her a treat after such a long week. Between her own frustrations and the awkward meetings with some of her exes, Lily was eager to spend time with her family and to remind herself why she needed to make a better life. Maybe in a place away from Luke Shurley and his influence. Just a town to start again in.
Lily smiled at Eve, showing her to a small booth for them to sit at. After ordering the treat and a coffee for herself. She listened to the chatter that all children provide when excited for their day. Eve was beautiful, her perfect gift. Didn't she deserve a better place than Storybrooke and a father that could love her, even if she wasn't his?
OCTOBER 28th: The streets of Storybrooke
It was all a lie. At least to an extent. These memories in her head, this other life that she could remember, they all perfectly synchronized in her head. The problems of Storybrooke and the demon Lilith were parallel. Didn't she also pine after the approval and affection of a man that had shown to have little regard for her?
Not everything was lost and this brought a great deal of clarity into her life. It may have left her feeling awkward and strange around certain other figures, but she knew now what she needed to do. What path she wanted to take.

Not everything was lost and this brought a great deal of clarity into her life. It may have left her feeling awkward and strange around certain other figures, but she knew now what she needed to do. What path she wanted to take.
Starter for Gale Shurley
But now, here she was, sitting at the diner with his brother, Gale. The boy that she had never noticed till now or had thought about in that way. Until now...
He was handsome, she realized, and soft...in a way that she recognized and felt she was similar to. They both had hard lives, children without parents. They were alike, something she appreciated.
Being on a date with him was something she never believe would happen, but somehow, it felt right.
"You look nice," she offered shyly, taking a sip of her second glass of wine. Her nerves finally disappearing.
Evening of Oct 27th;
And now -- she was giving him the attention he'd always wanted from her, it seemed, and the dull headache that had been threatening to overtake him all day was being replaced with a sense of warmth. Whether it was from the wine or from the company, he couldn't say.
"And you look as lovely as you always do." He reached his hand across the table to take hers gently, rubbing his thumb over the top of her hand. "I hope I'm being tolerable company. I don't have all that much experience with -- dating."
no subject
"You're more than tolerable. I am having a wonderful time." It was amazing how much she enjoyed being here. He wasn't Luke, but being across from this good man made her realize that it was preferable. She had obsessed over Luke's love for too long. She wanted to find her own happiness.
"I'm not the best at dating either, but it's not like we have to be anything other than ourselves. I already know your secrets and you know mine. And strangely, you wanted me despite it."
no subject
"I don't think I've got a lot of room to judge someone on the things that they've done in the past. We all make the decisions we do for a reason, one that seems good at the time." Sometimes it doesn't end up the way you were hoping, that's all.
"Fortunately for you, you're naturally charming." They had more in common than he'd dared to believe. They both had children, even if his was much older, and they'd both known different sorts of pain at the hands of Luke. He loved his brother still, but things had been -- awkward with him for some time.
no subject
"What took you so long?" Lily asked breathlessly, just wanting to bask in all of this. In the emotion she had and the level of desire she felt. But she knew the answer. She had been hung up on Luke for too long.
Gale showed her another life. A life she needed to be at peace.
"Would you think less of me if I offered for us to go back to my place?"
no subject
The fact that she's moving fast barely phases him. In some ways, he's grateful that she's making the first move: if he was the one suggesting she come back to his place, he'd have to figure out the logistics of making sure both his college-aged son and his brother were not home -- or risk terrible awkwardness. It wasn't something that he wanted to think about right now.
Actually, he doesn't want to think about anything right now except the way that her lips felt against his fingers - what they might feel like brushing against other parts of his body. He finishes the rest of the wine he has in his glass and glances at the meal they're nearly done.
"As long as you won't think me old-fashioned for wanting to take care of the bill myself."
no subject
"Eve is staying with her babysitter." She added, meeting his eyes hesitantly, still a bit shy about losing his respect. She knew deep down he wouldn't think less of her for any of this, but considering how little Luke thought of her, he could have said things that would be taken wrong.
Lily grinned, blushing. "I wouldn't think you old fashioned. I'd actually think you were a gentleman." It was a legitimate date and he was making her feel more and more happy.
She finishes her wine as well. Her head is swimming, but she is certain this is what she wants. That he is what she wants. "This means at least that you don't have to leave early or sneak away in the middle of the night."
no subject
After so long pining after this woman, he really is trying to impress her...and it seems to be working.
At her comment about not having to sneak out in the middle of the night, he attempts to think of something smooth and comes up only with, "That is probably best - I'm a very heavy sleeper." Just what a woman wants to hear, right?
no subject
His comment makes her laugh. "I'm glad to hear that." Lily managed, brushing some of her hair back from her face. "Just so long as you don't snore. I'd have to kick you." He doesn't need to be smooth, just himself.
no subject
"Ah. If I wake suddenly in the middle of the night with a pain in my shin, we will both know the answer to that."
no subject
It was so surreal, knowing what they were intending to do and being so casual about it. But there was so much meaning behind it all, for him and for her. She didn't want any of it to end.
"Daniel won't miss you tonight?" Lily asked him, not bothering to ask about his brothers. Somehow, they didn't cross her mind.
no subject
He should probably at least text his brother or son about the possibility of him not being home, but somehow it is not something he considers seriously. Too long lingering on Daniel only made the pit of his stomach tighten.
He walks them to his car, keeping his step intentionally leisurely. No need for her to think he's too over-anxious.
no subject
"It's good though that he is here with you." She offered, not sure if this was crossing a line. But she wanted to assure him, to let him know she thought he was doing his best.
"And I am glad to be here with you as well." Lily said, stopping in front of the car. Standing on her tip toes, she leans up and places a kiss on his lips, wanting to give him something to make him smile again.
no subject
He moves to her side to open the door and smiles, getting into his seat.
"You'll have to give me directions." Because admitting he knew where she lived would be creepy, right?
Right.
no subject
Sliding into the car, Lilith nods. "Just down main street and then take a right at the school. I'm at the end of the block. It's the blue house with the climbing roses."
She doesn't question his needing directions. It's not as though Luke would ever point her out.
no subject
He turns the car down the main street, casting a brief glance over to her.
"Roses. You know, I had never thought about it -- but the apartment could probably use a little green to it. It makes things feel like home, I think."
no subject
"I want an apple tree for my yard. I haven't had the chance to plant one yet. Maybe this spring?"
no subject
"Something bearing fruit would add some colour," he admits with a nod. Once he gets himself out of the car, he's swift to walk to her side and open the door for her.
no subject
Lily lead him to the door, unlocking it and letting him in. "Forgive the mess." She said breathlessly, placing her purse on the table. Some of Eve's toys were scattered about, along with drawings on the wall. She gave a laugh, knowing he'd understand. His son was older, but messes were their natural state.
no subject
"Your daughter has some early talent. Is she in lessons?" He doesn't want to press to continue their physical interaction so quickly after coming inside her home - and he isn't altogether sure how to start.
no subject
"She's still in preschool, but she always has a story to tell. These early years strengthen the patience." Lilith said lightly, pulling off her jacket. "Do you want a drink?"
no subject
"I am sure you do well with it. And -- I wouldn't say no to a drink. Anything you have is fine."
no subject
"It's been cold, I was thinking of lighting a fire."
no subject
He places the glass down on the nearest flat surface and brings his lips to hers, a hand coming to brush over her hair.
"It would be warmer under the covers," he suggests gently.
no subject
"Yes," she cups his face in her hands, trailing her lips along his jawline. He was so beautiful. More so than Luke, she realized.
"It will be with the two of us."
no subject
Pressing her back toward the bed helps banish that thought, so he doesn't stop until he hears the telltale soft sound of her legs hitting the edge of the mattress.
no subject
The image disappeared at the feeling of Gale's body against her. Heat flooding her veins. She kisses him desperately, descending into heady lust and affection.
Her hands snake under his shirt, looking to gaze at the body she had longed to see.
no subject
There is something about the way that her kiss tastes -- something bitter and sharp, but something that he thinks he would like to taste more of. How strange. His hands find band of her bra, and he pauses.
"-- is this all right?" He has to ask.
no subject
This had been her prompting, her designs and her encouragements. She feels proud, as though a part of her had planned it all along. But why?
There was no malicious undercurrent, even in her subconscious. Only desire now fed.
"Don't be afraid."
no subject
Even in the morning, waking up with the distinct thought that something is wrong as he rolls over in the unfamiliar bed and feels a warmth next to him ... he isn't afraid.
When his eyes slide open and they fix on Lilith's nude form underneath the sheets, he doesn't stumble out of the bed -- he tenses for a moment, but the memories from the night before come rushing back to him with a vengeance along with the rest of the memories he's been missing.
...this is going to get awkward.
no subject
For a moment, she forgets everything, believing she is in Hell, approaching the day of death. The light is Lucifer, free and descending to bless her with his love.
But all at once the dream is gone. She is beside a naked angel, one capable of smiting her and she in a vulnerable position. The past days return to her, the feelings, humanity and love. She is speechless.
"Gale?" That she can manage. Though it pains her to even say. The answer will be a disappointment and she knows it. He isn't Gale and she isn't Lily.
no subject
He manages a weak smile, pushing himself up to a reclining position in the bed.
"Good morning."
no subject
She was a demon, not a human. And he was an angel. Her child was not her child, but a wildling that she had designs on corrupting. And his son was the young man he had murdered back home.
Lilith shifts from the bed, standing as she goes to the mirror. It doesn't matter that she is completely nude or that he was acting as though he has no recollection of these events. There is something she wishes to see.
Gazing at her reflection, she watches her eyes, waiting for the telltale sign. A second passes before the white appears, the mark of a demon before her.
no subject
Those white, white eyes. It isn't something in his body that he can control yet, not at this moment - his hands start to glow unbearably brightly, and stifling them under the sheets does nothing to quell the light.
He knows it will hurt her, if he keeps on like this. No matter what she might be, he also knows he doesn't want that. The glow refuses to die down, and he's running out of time.
He does what any sensible person would do at this point, which is flings himself out of the bed wrapped in the sheets so he can get down the stairs, to put some distance between them while he figures out how to get himself back under control.

Items begin to shake on the wall, treasured objects flying from the shelf and shattering on the floor. Does it even matter? What she thought she loved is a lie and everything that she cherished was nothing more than an illusion.
But some things she cannot break. A small clay imprint of Eve's hands starts to dart towards the wall. Lilith's hand reaches out, stopping it from its collision course, taking the artwork in her palm. She stares down at her "daughter's" work, tracing over her name and the message, "I love you, mommy."
It's not something that she is used to feeling, but she is unhappy, miserable. This whole life that she loved is not hers and she cannot reclaim it.
Allowing herself the grace to dwell in her misery, she finally stands and pulls on her clothes, moving to the downstairs where Gale--Gadreel had retreated.
"I'm not here to fight," she says, looking at him warily.
no subject
"Nor am I." He doesn't move toward her or away from her, simply tracking her with his eyes for the moment.
no subject
"This was not our fault." She told him, assuming he felt shame and revulsion. This at least could be explained to his brothers. None of them had known and he would not have consorted with her otherwise.
no subject
When he stands, he hovers instead of moving to her side as he would have last night. There is something he feels he should say.
"You would not hurt me even if you did not have this -- other set of memories."
no subject
She couldn't even if she wanted to. But he wouldn't hurt her either. He knew how to touch her in a way she had never been confronted with before. How was it even possible?
"How can you know?" Lilith whispered, clutching the hand print tighter.
no subject
This time he does stand to move a step toward her. His head is starting to ache again, and he isn't entirely certain that it's going to stop.
"I -- should leave. This day will no doubt be a difficult one." And he had to talk to Daniel -- no, Kevin.
no subject
"Yes," she nods, wiping at her face, not wanting him to think this is because of him. She was mourning the loss of her life.
"You have family to see, to talk to."
no subject
How cruel this place was to Kevin. Perhaps it was just the way of the prophets to be miserable.
He nods quickly, gathering the sheet around his waist so that he can hurry back to his vehicle. He'll -- have to return them later.
