Rating: R
Summary: Lily Gardener's life may not be completely perfect, but it's the only life she knows. Or is it?
Notes: Let me know if you want a private scene and another location. I am flexible.
The Story:
OCTOBER 24th-25th: The School
After the last of the students had been collected, Lilith retreated to the playground, choosing to occupy one of the picnic tables as she reviewed her lesson plan for the next week. Her hair was pulled back in a pony tail, allowing her to lean closer to the papers without her vision being blocked. It was a chilly day, requiring her to wear a jacket, the northern winds harsh against the setting sun.
Everything seemed such a routine. She only had a few hours to finish this before having to go home and relieve the babysitter. Her daughter was waiting and she wanted to spend time with her. How much easier would it be if she had someone else in her life? Someone to help her shoulder the load of life, mortgage and family?
Her life was good enough, at least. It wasn't the happy ending she had wanted or hope for, but what could she do? She still loved a man that toyed with her, cheated on her and dumped her. No one else being able to compare to the one figure that dominated her life. But how long could she allow herself to brood over this or deny the fact that she wasn't happy with her situation? What could she even do to change her life?
OCTOBER 26th-27th: Outside the Diner
She had promised her daughter an ice cream sundae, wanting to give her a treat after such a long week. Between her own frustrations and the awkward meetings with some of her exes, Lily was eager to spend time with her family and to remind herself why she needed to make a better life. Maybe in a place away from Luke Shurley and his influence. Just a town to start again in.
Lily smiled at Eve, showing her to a small booth for them to sit at. After ordering the treat and a coffee for herself. She listened to the chatter that all children provide when excited for their day. Eve was beautiful, her perfect gift. Didn't she deserve a better place than Storybrooke and a father that could love her, even if she wasn't his?
OCTOBER 28th: The streets of Storybrooke
It was all a lie. At least to an extent. These memories in her head, this other life that she could remember, they all perfectly synchronized in her head. The problems of Storybrooke and the demon Lilith were parallel. Didn't she also pine after the approval and affection of a man that had shown to have little regard for her?
Not everything was lost and this brought a great deal of clarity into her life. It may have left her feeling awkward and strange around certain other figures, but she knew now what she needed to do. What path she wanted to take.

Those white, white eyes. It isn't something in his body that he can control yet, not at this moment - his hands start to glow unbearably brightly, and stifling them under the sheets does nothing to quell the light.
He knows it will hurt her, if he keeps on like this. No matter what she might be, he also knows he doesn't want that. The glow refuses to die down, and he's running out of time.
He does what any sensible person would do at this point, which is flings himself out of the bed wrapped in the sheets so he can get down the stairs, to put some distance between them while he figures out how to get himself back under control.

Items begin to shake on the wall, treasured objects flying from the shelf and shattering on the floor. Does it even matter? What she thought she loved is a lie and everything that she cherished was nothing more than an illusion.
But some things she cannot break. A small clay imprint of Eve's hands starts to dart towards the wall. Lilith's hand reaches out, stopping it from its collision course, taking the artwork in her palm. She stares down at her "daughter's" work, tracing over her name and the message, "I love you, mommy."
It's not something that she is used to feeling, but she is unhappy, miserable. This whole life that she loved is not hers and she cannot reclaim it.
Allowing herself the grace to dwell in her misery, she finally stands and pulls on her clothes, moving to the downstairs where Gale--Gadreel had retreated.
"I'm not here to fight," she says, looking at him warily.

"Nor am I." He doesn't move toward her or away from her, simply tracking her with his eyes for the moment.

"This was not our fault." She told him, assuming he felt shame and revulsion. This at least could be explained to his brothers. None of them had known and he would not have consorted with her otherwise.

When he stands, he hovers instead of moving to her side as he would have last night. There is something he feels he should say.
"You would not hurt me even if you did not have this -- other set of memories."
no subject
She couldn't even if she wanted to. But he wouldn't hurt her either. He knew how to touch her in a way she had never been confronted with before. How was it even possible?
"How can you know?" Lilith whispered, clutching the hand print tighter.

This time he does stand to move a step toward her. His head is starting to ache again, and he isn't entirely certain that it's going to stop.
"I -- should leave. This day will no doubt be a difficult one." And he had to talk to Daniel -- no, Kevin.
no subject
"Yes," she nods, wiping at her face, not wanting him to think this is because of him. She was mourning the loss of her life.
"You have family to see, to talk to."
no subject
How cruel this place was to Kevin. Perhaps it was just the way of the prophets to be miserable.
He nods quickly, gathering the sheet around his waist so that he can hurry back to his vehicle. He'll -- have to return them later.
