[Open!]
Who: Souji [
eatsyourscience], Tohru [
breakthecurse], and EVERYONE!
Where: The Diner
When: December 26
Rating: PG at most, likely
Summary: Christmas chicken and cake has to be a little late this year, but Souji and Tohru aren't balked by that.
The Story:
This year is the second annual KFC Christmas in Wonderland. At least, it was planned to be. The Jabberwocky, Mirror switching, and Souji's amnesia caused a slight delay, but when everything went back to normal last night, he remembered his and Tohru's plans.
They convened in the diner this morning to get things ready before setting a signboard and the Colonel (plus twinkling fairy lights) outside the door to advertise the post-Christmas special.
Fried chicken (with Souji's best approximation of the 11 herbs and spices), a few appropriate sides, and plenty of Christmas cake complete the menu today. Cocoa, coffee, tea, and various other drinks are available.
Come on in! Feel free to use this log to mingle.

They could have the Christmas party on the 26th. A day wouldn't make a difference, if it meant being able to celebrate with everyone happy and well. It could still be Christmas, since theirs was spoiled by fighting a monster.
Things have had to be a little rushed this year, so Tohru is still decorating the tops of Christmas cakes, but there's a calm to everything now that Wonderland's version of the holidays feels over.
"I'm really glad you're okay, Souji," she says abruptly, since it's been on her mind in the last few minutes. "It wouldn't have been the same without you."

"Thank you."
Taking a package of dental floss from his pocket, he unreels a long piece and uses that, rather than a knife, to make clean cuts in the cake.
"I'm glad you're okay, too. I hope you were safe."
no subject
"We were as safe as can be!" she says, with a nod. "Nothing attacked over here even though we had the diner set up as a shelter just in case. Plus, we had some angels come and stay with us!"
She doesn't know them very well, but she's fairly confident that they would have done their best to keep them all safe.

"I'm glad."
He throws away the string of dental floss and places the cake neatly beneath a glass cover.
"From what I can tell, this time was different from the times the Jabberwocky's appeared before. I think I'm relieved if that's the case, though."

Sometimes, Tohru forgets that Souji's been in Wonderland much longer than she has. For her, the Jabberwock was a completely new experience. She's only ever heard stories about it, like the ones told last Christmas.
"...Why was last time different?" she asks, tentatively. "What happened?"
She knows what could have happened, and what the future supposedly had in store, but she doesn't know anything about previous Jabberwock attacks at all.

He had some firsthand stories, then, instead of the way so many things in Wonderland were just passed down without real verification of them.
"Before, people died on both sides of the mirrors. This time it only killed Mirrors--it just ate our memories if it ran into us. It didn't even get over here."
no subject
"It's good that it wasn't able to come over here," she says, "but...it's still sad that anyone had to die at all. I know the Mirrors aren't always nice, but they didn't do anything wrong. They were just trying to protect themselves, and they were killed for it."
That sounds so tragic and sad, to her. She doesn't know the Mirrors very well, but it doesn't sit right with her.
"I'm glad that no one on this side died though, and that everyone is okay now."
no subject
"If any of us had died over there, we'd never come back."
no subject
It's so clearly something she would do that she never thought to question it.
"Souji? ...What happens to the Mirrors then? If they were killed over there, then..."
no subject
Souji doesn't know for sure, but he's got a hunch.
"I was told that in the future, I got killed over there."
That didn't happen this time around, at least. He doesn't intend for it to ever happen.

Though, she grows somber again.
"...I heard about that as well." It was hard not to notice, since that ghostly shrine had been full of names. "But, since the Jabberwocky didn't win, maybe things will be different now? Since that didn't happen...maybe none of it will. I really hope that's the case."

"I think you're right, Souji. And everyone did a really good job this time!" she points out. "With everyone working together, I think we'll be okay."
no subject
Souji picks up a pair of tongs.
"You've been working awhile. Do you want to take a break for some chicken?"

It is a party, after all. They're allowed to have a little fun themselves.
