[ When not cheering on her big brother, Clint, at a Quidditch match, she can be found pretty much anywhere. It had been important to her to have friends in all the houses, though finding her in the Slytherin common room isn't a frequent thing. She makes a point to practice piano in the music classroom, not wanting to let that slip, and grab a bite to eat from the Dining Hall... Even if that eating is more on the go than actually sitting down. Don't mind her as she grabs a few things here and there and --oh, sorry. Didn't mean to bump anyone, just going for a pastry to round out the meal.

The stairs have become something of a nuisance with the added class load, spending more time dealing with them than actually moving through the hallways. At one point, though, when she's running late to class already, the stairs give her a new headache - taking her to the complete wrong side. A portrait laughs, making a comment about going for a stroll. ]

They've got it out for me, I swear to--

D-Darcy!

[There's a familiar voice - Mikan pants, out of breath, apparently having run in an attempt to catch up to her.]

I-I tried to stop the stairs, but I couldn't, so I tried to yell at you but you didn't hear me and then I tripped and fell down the stairs so I-I tried to get up them again but it was too late and...

[ She turns at the sound, the smile turning to a look of concern as she tells the story of what happened. Darcy's quick to cross to the fellow Hufflepuff. ]

Mikan! Gulping gargoyles -- Thank you, but you didn't need to do that. The stairs have a mind of their own, sometimes. But, are you okay? Do you need to go to the Medical Wing?

[naughty_nurse]

[Sniffle sniffle. She looks ready for tears any second now.]

N-No... Minor bruising, no broken bones or skin tears, and a bump on the head that'll subside...

[As usual, she can easily diagnose herself.]

[ A gentle hand is immediately moving out, ready to comfort her as needed - voice soft. ]

I think a trip to see Mr. Rutherford might not be such a bad idea...

[ Because that bump on the head has Darcy's attention, she'd rather not possibly have something worse happen. ]

Oh, n-nooo! I couldn't possibly bother him again! I'm always i-in his way...

I doubt he feels that way, honest. You're like, the best nursing student I've ever seen. I'll bet he's super happy to have you around, but you should also take care of yourself.

I... I can go with you if you want. Or, we could go back to the common room and see how you're feeling in an hour or so?

B-But now I'm bothering you!

Mikan, trust me. You're not bothering me at all. [ A beat. ] What would you prefer, homeroom or the hospital wing?

[naughty_nurse]

... Homeroom, please...

[incomingsass]

Homeroom it is. [ And with that, she gently starts leading Mikan back down the treacherous stairs towards the Hufflepuff homeroom. ] But, if you start showing any signs of serious injuries, don't think I won't drag you off to the hospital wing.

[ Because the last thing she wants is something going terribly wrong. ]

[naughty_nurse]

[She follows loyally, happy that someone cares for her so much.]

... Th-thank you. I don't think I'll ever get used to this...

[ Well, that hadn't been expected. At all. It's enough to get her to pause for a moment, confusion evident on her face as she looks at Mikan. ]

At what? Someone caring about you? I'm sure there are a ton of people that care, how could they not? You're super sweet and selfless. People would be seriously lacking to not have you as a friend.

[naughty_nurse]

[BLUUUUSH. She even ducks her face a bit.]

Th-that's way too much! That's way too much to say...

What? It's not too much if it's true.

[ Said with as much sparkle as a Hufflepuff can muster. ]

You'll be a great nurse we graduate.

They're real jerks, aren't they?

[Jo happens to be just a few feet away from where Darcy ends up, her books tucked under one arm as she shoots the offending portrait a glare. Having the stairs derail you is bad enough, but being laughed at about it afterwards? Really, it's just unnecessary on top of being rude.]

You okay? At least they didn't give way beneath you.

I think they get worse each year... I might have to borrow one of my brother's brooms to get to class next year.

[ She brushes a speck of dirt off of her robes, adjusting slightly as she offers Jo a smile. ]

But, yeah. Otherwise, I'm totally fine. Definitely could've been worse.

Might be worth the time in detention to save yourself a broken ankle from belligerent stairs, anyway.

[Brooms inside the castle were a definite nope, but if the stairs continued to be aggressive, it might be worth the trade-off.]

What class are you heading to?

Assuming I don't break my own ankle in the process. Brooms and I aren't really friends on the best of days.

[ So, that may not be completely accurate, but no one needs to know that. ]

Oh, um, Defense Against the Dark Arts and then Ancient Runes. Trying to get all the time in I can before O.W.L.s.

[Jo frowns, turning to survey the hallway as she mentally places the classes in question-- she can't think of an especially direct path to either of them from this side if the stairs don't cooperate.]

Well, stairs didn't exactly make it easy for you. If they don't swing back this way sometime soon, might not be able to avoid being late-- unless there are any shortcuts you know about that I don't.

[Hogwarts isn't exactly short on secret passages, after all.]

[ Hmmm, secret passageways. Well, she did have a few friends who'd made a point to explore Hogwarts to it's fullest. Of course, she'd tried to keep her nose clean so she didn't get her hands dirty in her 5th year. Not when she had big plans after school that wouldn't pan out with a tarnished school record. ]

I know of a few, although I haven't tried them myself. This might be a good time to try it... maybe.

[ WAS SHE FEELING ADVENTUROUS? OH BOY. ]

[Probably a dangerous question to ask, all things considered.]

Well, maybe detention, but that's only if we get caught-- and even that depends on which professor it is.

[They'll be fine.]

Wait, we won't get in trouble. If someone catches us, I'll just say I'd been notified by someone about people being back here and it was my duty as a prefect to check it out and make sure everyone was safe and you were totally helping me.

[ It'll be okay. She'd totally be a convincing li.............ar. ]
