Who: Seta Souji [
eatsyourscience] and Arisato Minato [
jivitadana]
Where: Sixth Floor, Room 101
When: Saturday, February 25
Rating: PG-13 for conversation and the like
Summary: It's a certain special day today, and Minato has certain special plans
The Story:
Minato had known about today for a couple of months. He had been curious during early conversations about time, the past, present and future and how intertwined the concept was with Wonderland. He thought he understood how time worked, but it didn't turn out to be so linear, after all.
But today was here. Minato had made some of his preparations a couple of days beforehand and worked on them during evenings since his days were mostly spent with Souji. And his intention was to make it as much of a surprise as possible. Of course it was obvious enough after he had asked when Souji's birthday was that Souji could guess something would be happening on that day, but Minato just wanted Souji to keep guessing about that "something."
He made his typical Friday delivery to Souji's room, just to ensure that everything appeared as normal as possible. As for today as a bonus, of course, he made a special cake, hoping that Souji would like it. The colors reminded him of Souji, despite how much black, white, and gray his kouhai sported and rocked. He would have to keep the cake in a safe place until it was time.
In his own room, he had yellow, blue, and white flowers in small vases, one on his desk and another one on the table in the middle of the room. He had debated about balloons, but those wouldn't last as long as the flowers. And maybe he did set up a few battery-powered LED tea light candles here and there. He would turn them on later. That was about it for the decorations. There didn't need to be much. There, the setting was finished.
The last part of it had been the gift. He had that safe too in its dark blue box in his desk drawer. He thought to tie it off at least with a silver ribbon to make it match the festivities. He made sure too as best as he could that it would be just right for Souji.
It was a special occasion. It was also Minato's chance to show Souji just how grateful he was to him. He could never stop thinking about how lucky he was to have met Souji. They'd meet again, as was promised to him. He believed it. His hopes might have been elevated, escalated, but Minato would rather hope and dream in the face of reality because sometimes, hopes and dreams did come true.
Thus on Saturday, February 25, Minato had spent the day with Souji like it were normal. It was later on though when Minato finally did invite Souji over to Room 101 on the Sixth Floor. It was a surprise! There were festivities of some sort. But what kind though? That was the question.

The day seemed normal enough--they worked in the diner for awhile, and played with Tefra and the bunny afterward. When they went back upstairs and went to Minato's room, he wasn't expecting there to be flowers and a cake waiting.
He should have expected Minato to do something for him. Minato was too considerate to let his birthday pass them by the way he always did.
After his initial surprise, he turned to look at Minato. "Thank you."
no subject
Minato had said it already, but it bore repeating again, especially now. He wanted to do this because he had his chance to do it now. He knew that he might get to do it later, but he didn't know when. No one aged here, but it didn't mean that the day couldn't be celebrated.
He held onto Souji's hand. "You want cake or dinner first?"
no subject
"...Dinner." It was a tough decision, but the cake would hold. Normally he'd probably have chosen cake first, but it was customary to eat birthday cake last.
no subject
Minato had gotten it from the dining room. But he did shape them into how he wanted them to look. He still hoped it was okay when he brought out the trays and set them on the table with two pairs of chopsticks.
"What did you want to drink?"
no subject
"Cola is fine."
no subject
"Itadakimasu."
no subject
Now that they were both there and comfortable, he helped himself to the food.
no subject
He finished off his cola, then smiled over at Souji once they were all done eating. "Cake?"
no subject
"You made it?"
Souji thought he must have. It looked like it had taken a lot of time and work.
no subject
"I hope lemon and blueberry are okay."
But first, before cutting the cake, there was something he had to do first, and that was to sing Happy Birthday for him, so he did.
"Otanjoubi omedetou."
no subject
"Thank you." He leaned forward a little. "Should I serve it?"
no subject
Minato brought over the vanilla ice cream since he thought it would go well with the sweetness of the cake and the bit of tartness from the lemon and blueberry. He set out two plates for them but it was really just tradition. The two of them could finish off the cake and ice cream easily, but Souji should have a chance to cut an actual birthday cake for himself.
no subject
He served Minato first, then himself. He waited while Minato served the ice cream, then said another quiet "itadakimasu" before he started to eat.
"Nn. It's good."
no subject
Minato was pleased too to hear it. Souji didn't always comment about food or about anything, really, since he wasn't picky at all. He felt warm inside when he heard it. It was a sign that Souji was happy, and that's all Minato wanted.
"The colors reminded me of you."
no subject
"Happy and calm?" That's what those colors usually meant.
He ate a few more bites before putting his fork down and looking at Minato.
"Are you happy?"
no subject
He smiled too, having put down his own fork after having some ice cream.
"I am."
Souji made him happy. Minato could only hope that he made Souji happy too.
"Thank you. For everything."
no subject
"You, too. You've given me a lot."
He was too lucky, he thought, to be able to see and know Minato again.
no subject
"But I have more."
After they had finished eating all of the cake and ice cream and cleaned up, Minato went about turning on all the little LED tea lights around the room in lieu of having Souji blow out any candles on a cake.
Then he finally got the small blue box with silver ribbon around it, and set it on the table. Inside was this gift.
no subject
"Here."
Taking Minato's hand, he slipped that ring onto his finger.
no subject
Minato had when Souji slid the ring onto his finger. He picked up the other ring and moved slowly, getting the ring on Souji's finger too. This wasn't to make things final. It was more like the start of something instead.
no subject
Once the ring was in place, he curled his fingers as though holding it close to himself.
"Thank you."
He hoped his wish would come true.
no subject
Minato for his part pressed his hand over his heart. He hoped that his wish would come true too. He made it and he was still the same person when he went home. The wish should carry over whenever he did go home. He just didn't want it to be too soon though.
"There's something else."
He scooted around over to where Souji was and whispered in his ear what that something else was.
no subject
"I want that."
no subject
"Now?"
Minato had meant it as a request, just a little bit, if he could. He started to get to his feet, helping Souji up too.
no subject
no subject
"You're cute."
no subject
no subject
"I have a way of making you cuter."
His hand moved on lower to Souji's shirt, undoing the buttons there.
no subject
He blinks and reaches out to trace the tattoo he uncovers.
"When did you get this?"
no subject
"In December."
With all the events that happened, changes to the mansion and maybe to themselves, not to mention the mirrors too, getting the tattoo was Minato's way of keeping some sense of himself. Souji would know that this Minato was the right Minato.
"It's so you know it's me and that I'm yours."
no subject
His hand lingered on the tattoo before trailing down Minato's chest.
no subject
"You're not going to unwrap your gift?"
no subject
no subject
"So... what are you going to do with me?"
no subject
no subject
"Suki da."
He loved Souji and would show him too how much he did.
no subject
no subject
"Otanjoubi omedetou."
no subject
"Thank you."
He hadn't really celebrated his birthday in the last few years. This was nice, though.
no subject
"I love you."
no subject
Happy Minato was there. Happy to be right here, right now.
no subject
"You're always so good to me. I want to be that way for you too."
no subject
Souji closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He was ready to rest now.
no subject
Minato nodded and snuggled more with Souji. He could rest too with Souji now, not minding if this moment lasted forever.
