OTA ; Don't Stop, Make it Pop, DJ Blow My Speakers Up
Who: Lucifer Morningstar and OTA
Where: Deux Lux, Floor 6, Room 66
When: Anytime in March
Rating: TBD, probably PG-13 or so
Summary: Lucifer does what he does almost every other night - he has a party. Shenanigans and conversation ensue. This is essentially a catch-all for March for him. Let me know if you want something specific.
The Story:
[Once the drama of New Years dies down and he's drunk the entirely of his bar two or more times, Lucifer finally reopens his club to the public, seemingly no worse for the wear. He's chatted with a few specific people, reflected (marginally) on himself a bit, and has come to several conclusions.
All of which he'll be keeping to himself for the most part.
That said, he seems a bit brighter than even when he first arrived, as if there's a bit of weight off his shoulders, and he's almost less of a businessman and more of a guest in his own place as the nights continue on. He drinks along with everyone else, dances when he pleases, and plays the piano often, lending his singing voice more than occasionally.
Still, a few things weight on his mind that he'll need to take care of, but on the whole, he's quite chipper and easily approaching....or as approachable as the Devil can be.
That said, he's not seen a whole lot outside of his nightclub or his penthouse up the stairs, which means he might be a little more reclusive still than he first appears...]

Lucifer
The club is certainly foreign in just about every way it's possible to be. It's unlike any place Anders would have the opportunity to visit at home, and that's maybe in part why he likes it--it's different, and only the Chantry believes that different means dangerous without exception.
Same goes for Deux Lux's owner. Undeniably different, possibly dangerous, and apparently an accomplished singer.]
Are you sure you weren't a choir boy in a past life?
[This coming from Anders after one of Lucifer's performances at the piano. He runs a nightclub, he plays piano, he's the Devil, and he can pull off a round of show tunes like nobody's business--is there anything he can't do?]
no subject
I'm too old for a past life, I'm afraid. I left the gregorian chants to the monks who apparently enjoyed droning on and on about Father's nonsense and usually getting it wrong in the process.
no subject
Right, inspired the choir boys and the modern karaoke scene, then. How's that? More historically accurate?
[Anders has a drink in hand--a color he's not even sure exists on the human spectrum, made of other things he's not sure of--and as he shifts to stand at the side of the piano, he sips from it. Like many things in Lucifer's abode, underneath the unassuming appearances lies a hidden potency that warms the throat and belly.]
Well, who needs those monks, right?
[Dediated religious followers, snooze.]
no subject
I suppose I'll accept that, though the latter sure sings about me more often than the former.
[There are plenty of more modern songs about the devil. Shockingly, not all of them are that bad, either.]
Certainly not me. Though some of the cults that try to worship me? They're almost worse.
no subject
[There it is, Anders' two cents on the merits of music for the night. You can quote him on that.
The almost paternal exasperation in Lucifer's voice, like a very old man tired of the kids stealing clippings from his rosebushes, prompts an amused quirk of lips.]
Oh? Not your kind of idolatry?
no subject
[Lucifer will gladly agree on that point. Life is about fun, and Lucifer is quite fond of music, especially when it suits his interest.]
Satanists? No. They have this strange fascination with goats and horns and blood sacrifices. They commit unspeakable crimes in my name. I can't say I'm a fan.
no subject
[There's not a single drop of recognition in the way he repeats it back, an ignorance afforded to him by being from a world without The Exorcist movies and black metal music.
Is Lucifer sure he's not describing the Avvar, though? Because the goats ring a bell or two.]
I can see why you aren't playing any songs about that. I don't know how well goats fit the vibe of your club.
no subject
[Vilifying him is what led to all that nonsense. Then again, the universe in general is his Father's fault, but going into that kind of thing would be going a bit far in the moment.]
They would stink up the place and chip my very nice floors. Goats are most definitely not allowed. Neither is their blood, mind you.
no subject
It seems a bit fair to be the ear as much as he is the mouth, too. He's bitched about the Circle more times than he can count here and he's nowhere near it. Some thorns in your side never quite stop twinging.]
"No goats, no blood sacrifices, no service." A reasonable policy. Maybe you should think about putting up a sign.
[So far they've covered what state Lucifer's public image is in, less the man himself, and Anders moves to rectify that.]
So how is the life an idol and business owner going these days?
no subject
[Not to mention an actual rule because he does not want these things, but again, there hasn't been a whole lot of bloodletting in his name around Wonderland as of yet.]
There was a bit of drama at the New Years party that you may have heard about. I may have almost torn someone's heart out. Broken a couple dozen bones, you know.
no subject
Anders' eyebrows lift in a look of mute interest. He had heard about a few kerfuffles, but since it hadn't involved him he'd adopted the Circle's "don't ask, don't tell" policy and left well enough alone. Super-powered beings are entitled to their own drama.]
I was there for a bit, but I must have left before all the excitement, I missed your big show. What did they do, take a bite of finger food and set it back on the dish?
no subject
I discovered that they were responsible for the murder of a friend of mine before they both arrived here, actually. Part of some complicated ritual, yadda yadda yadda. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about it, actually.
no subject
[As someone who majored in sarcasm with a minor in nonchalance, Anders can appreciate Lucifer delivering horrendous news with the casualness of someone complaining their wine went bad.]
If the beating of their life doesn't teach a person, I don't know what would. I can't imagine you went gently on them.
no subject
[Which is part of the problem, considering she came back from the dead and so much time has passed since then that the culprit's loved ones claim he has more than paid for it.]
Not at all. I created quite the mess, actually. Ruffled a few other feathers in the process.
no subject
And he can only imagine it's ten times worse to be close to a person living with memories of their own death, like Robyn.]
And? [He prompts this after a moment's thoughtful pause, bring an arm across his chest to tuck it under the other.] Did dishing out a beat down make you feel better?
[He can't speak for the woman who'd done the dying, but perhaps for Lucifer raining down vengeance had been cathartic, even here where revenge killings are more like temporary inconveniences.]
no subject
Temporarily, perhaps.
[It had felt good to let loose, to direct his anger onto someone he believed deserved it. But that fact of the matter was he felt betrayed as well, by someone he'd considered more than just an acquaintance.
And then found out later that he and said murderer had far more alike that he thought.]
It turns out things were more complicated than they seemed.
no subject
But Lucifer doesn't burn with aggression like someone itching to do it again--in fact, he seems calm. Maybe even a little rueful.]
Aren't they always?
[He doesn't mean it as a brush-off or a criticism; it's a sighed agreement. Things always tend to be complicated, he just never thought he'd be hearing it from the mouth of someone like this. He sounds almost human.]
Ruffled feathers aside, defending a friend's life--that's noble of you. When we spoke, you didn't seem to care much for mortal lives.
no subject
Not for me, no.
[Things used to be pretty simple, honestly. He was better at seeing shades of grey than his brothers and sisters, but that wasn't saying much.]
Yes, well, I've grown attached to a few of them, for better or worse. I'm as perplexed as you are.
no subject
[How does it feel, being caught up in the same currents that buffet mortal people? Connections. Loyalty. Revenge. It's all a bit of a clusterfuck... but worth it in the end, finding people with the right mess to complement your own.]
Cheers to old, ageless dogs learning new tricks?
no subject
[Which is part of the reason they interest him so much. He's was more complicated than the other angels, or so he liked to believe. Why else would he have been cast out if not for being different?]
Cheers.
[He lifts his drink to clink it before knocked the rest back.]
