open; i got issues, but you got 'em too

Who: grant ward + you
Where: all over wonderland
When: 3/22-3/26
Rating: pg for now
Summary: ward's done hiding. it's time to make some connections.
The Story:

[ It's a good thing Ward's always been highly adaptable. Waking up in Wonderland? No problem. Realizing this is his afterlife because there is no way he could have survived getting his chest crushed? Well, he's learning to deal with it. It's not like he wasn't ready for it all to be over anyways. He just wasn't going to go down without a fight.

What's it been now? A week since he arrived to this ridiculous place? Ward hasn't seen a lot of Wonderland just yet as he's been cooped up in his room mostly; licking his wounds, biding his time, doing some research. But hey, what a room. Four walls. Literally. He probably could have come up with something better, but it's not like he needs much anyways. It could have been worse. He could have woken up in a coffin. Yikes.

All dressed up in a leather jacket, comfortable jeans and a crisp white shirt, Grant Ward takes a good look at himself in the mirror and asks himself who he wants to be today. Because walking out that door is a big deal. He's about to start a brand new chapter in his life. He can do anything. Be anyone. And what does a dead man want?

Well, freedom's out of the question. So -- how about a walk around Wonderland? And maybe some company? Come on. Is that really too much to ask for?

[When he reaches the kitchen in his tour, he'll find Georgia, who's stopped by for lunch and more importantly, caffeine. She pops the tab on her Coke and turns towards him, raising an eyebrow over her sunglasses.]

You're new.

[She could be wrong. She pays close attention but even she can't notice everyone when they first arrive. Still, if he's not new, he's been keeping himself extremely low profile. Otherwise she'd at least recognize his face, if not know who he is.]

Georgia. [She gives him a cool nod in greeting.] No, not really. It's a small mansion, but not that small.

[Especially with how often people leave or come. You never know if the person you meet will still be there tomorrow.]

But small enough that I do tend to at least recognize faces. You're either new or the sort who avoids the network entirely, and your clothes don't mark you as pre-phones, so the former seemed like a safe bet.

Sort of. Part blogging, part forums, part normal phone business. You can call people or text them or video chat, or you can post something that goes out to everyone. Only reason it's not exactly social media is that you don't get to choose your feed. It's everything or hiding it in your sock drawer and ignoring it.

[Not that she's done that a few times when she really needed to write and not be disturbed.]

That is old fashioned. [Georgia says congenially. She takes a sip from her coke before responding.]

Yes, I am from Earth, though probably not the same Earth as you. [She smiles. There's no warmth to the expression.] People from my Earth prefer a conversation through a screen. That way if the person you're talking to up and dies on you somehow, they're less likely to bite you.

[She raises an eyebrow behind her sunglasses. Zombies aren't the story anymore in her world, and yet, in some ways, they're the only story. They've been around for twenty years. Life goes on. People shy away from leaving their houses because they're letting fear rule them.

Zombies have never been the biggest threat to humanity. Not since the Rising ended.]

You'll have to be more specific. A lot's happened.

[Her mouth twists, almost a smile.]

No, nothing like that. Be a fucking stupid kind of biological warfare, since it isn't exactly discriminating in who it kills. It was an accident. Two scientists with all the good intentions in the world came up with a cure for cancer and a cure for the common cold. Both worked, and still do. They just have this unfortunate side effect of also curing death, so to speak. We don't get sick. We do get up and try to eat people unless we're put down with a headshot.

[She tilts her head down, slowly raising an eyebrow over her sunglasses. Her tone is extremely dry when she responds.] Yes, the government should stop people from dying. Why did no one in my world think of it.

And again you'll have to be more specific. Home's a big place. A lot happened, and I have neither the time nor inclination to tell you every single thing of note. [She takes another sip of her coke. Caffeine makes her less murderous.] Besides, you haven't told me a single thing about your world. Seems only polite.
