Summary: Len does all right in space, mostly by doing wrong
The Story:

1. Space Bar

A bar is a bar is a bar. Leonard doesn't find anything drastically different about this place, except for the aliens and the ice seemingly not melting, which has his attention more than the actual drink. He stands a bit apart from most of what's going on, leaning against the wall by a table and watching no one in particular.

Although, if someone comes in at the right - or wrong - time, they may find him sending cold looks edging on outright glares in the direction of his partner, who's probably having a bit too good a time, at least in Leonard's opinion.

2. Space Museum

What came first, the stealing or the art appreciation? In Leonard's case - having been born into a criminal family - it was the stealing. These days, however? It's genuine appreciating for its own sake too. He looks at the building from the outside first, appreciating the architecture but, of course, also casing the joint. Force of habit or actually leading up to something, it's anyone's guess.

Later he can be found inside, both appreciating the exhibition and inspecting the alarm system and other safety measures, a connoisseur of both art and art theft. He's subtle enough about the latter, but someone in a similar business or otherwise experienced may be able to pick up on it.

Ah, well. It's space and she thinks she can make an exception just this once.

Taking the drink from him, Iris lights up a bit with excitement. Leonard is one of the few people who not only wants to know her opinion, but wants to know it through the eyes of a journalist. "A journalist explores as many foreign cultures and markets as she can, emphasis on the food markets. And maybe takes a space car lesson from a talking raccoon."

Yeah, that happened.

"You met Rocket? Good guy." If one calls a talking raccoon guy, he's honestly not sure. "Knows how to hold his own." Where drinking and everything else is concerned, evidently. Even space cars, not that that's surprising, just from the little exposure he's had.

"You found anything good? Can't wait to read your article. Blog entry? Whatever you call it these days."

Oh hey, Leonard knows Rocket, too! It shouldn't be surprising, Wonderland is a small 'world.'

But it makes Iris smile, much like his questions about her writing make her smile. He really is one of the few people to take an earnest interest in it. To see Iris as Iris West, the reporter. That means something to her. "The Shattered Mirror is finally in print, I'll have you know," she says with a small smirk, taking a sip of her drink. "But I do plan on covering as many events as possible. Something I keep asking myself: does Wonderland take us somewhere else, or does its magic—or whatever it is—really manipulate our constant surroundings?"

"That's a question for the science inclined people. Clearly the manipulation of the surroundings would go beyond anything that should normally be possible, but whether it's metaphysically still seen as the same location or not, especially when we suddenly got things like a whole island or the Hogwarts grounds? Wouldn't know." Yes, Leonard can talk a lot more like a scientist than he might sometimes want to give the appearance, but he simply shrugs as if he knows nothing.

"It takes from people's memories. Just inspiration or more?"

"A little of both," Iris allows.

She's interacted with Leonard for long enough now that she doesn't find his smarts unexpected. He may mask his qualities behind a cool veneer, but she's aware there's a lot more to him than he'd like people to know. "The moment I got here I began to comb through the network archive. As much as I could, anyway. There's a lot of arguments on science and magic."

For some people, there's no real difference. Magic is science that has yet to be explained. For others...

"That's Clarke's third law, isn't it? Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." He has a good memory, he likes to read and that's one catchy sentence, so it's pretty easy to cite. "But who knows, in a place like this? I've spent some time here talking to the Wicket Witch of the West. Lovely woman."

Bit of a temper, judging by a penchant for throwing bicycles. Or throw one, but really, does it take more than one?

"Look at you getting all science fiction on me," Iris teases, tipping her glass in his direction as though in toast.

There's a small pause, and then she leans forward. "I can't believe I even have to ask this, but when you say the Wicked Witch of the West, you mean... ?" The witch from Wizard of Oz? Are these really their lives now?

"You have to pass the time between planning heists somehow." So why not read science fiction? Or other things, for that matter, as should be obvious given he's the only person in their universe with an opinion on Iris' writing.

"Who do you think I'd mean?" Given the circumstances, it does almost seem like a stupid question, but he supposes he can't blame her for making sure. "The one from the stories, far as I can tell. She told me she had some beef with the seven dwarfs. And Snow White?"
