first notes § a classy diner
who: goro & you
where: diner
when: first week of may
rating: pg-13 (probably? will update if necessary)
the story: a detective walks into a diner for some pancakes and....
option 1 - for the employees
[ while this isn't leblanc, per say, it still has a rather comforting feel to it. he isn't sure if it's the decor or the general energy in the diner, but it seems to call to him the same way that the tiny curry and coffeeshop did back in tokyo. it's not insanely crowded but it has enough interesting faces to keep him intrigued. still, that's not to say he's actively seeking conversation. rather, he's brought a book from the library down to the diner to thumb through as he takes a break from investigating the hot mess he's found himself in.
there's a pencil stuck between his teeth, brown fringe covering his eyes as he skims the pages of the book. occasionally, he plucks the pencil out to scribble something down in the margin, and then just like that, the pencil returns dutifully to his mouth.
he hasn't ordered yet, a bit lost in thought over the pages of paradise lost. ]
option 2 - for others
[ now that he has his coffee (it's really a necessity in life), he's taken a break from the pages of the riveting story to glance around the diner. simply surveying the area for any "familiar faces." one leg is crossed against another, dangling off the edge of the stool, toe of his shoe tapping light sounds against the counter in front of him.
as usual, each and every lock of hair is perfectly in place and he's wearing his tan jacket complete with a drab, striped tie. although he enjoys the tranquility, he can't help but catch the gaze of anyone who walks into this diner. namely, you.
there's a bright, undeniably charismatic smile that appears and he lifts a hand politely up in way of greeting. ]
May I ask you a question?

May I ask you a question?
no subject
Pancakes, if you have them. [ it's said with a smile, if not a bit tentative. he hadn't exactly looked
no subject
What kind?
[There was plain buttermilk, or anything with berries, chocolate chips, practically anything. But since it was everything, he had to offer at least one suggestion:]
... The special is blue velvet pancakes, if you're interested.
no subject
I've never heard of those before.
[ the slightest tilt of his head. ]
Have you tried them?
no subject
Mn. I make them.
[Among other things. He did honestly try everything ever that the Diner produced.]
But it's up to you.
no subject
[ besides, what's life without a bit of adventure? or rather, it'd be a great talking point to others in this strange place if he had 'blue velvet pancakes' under his belt. ]
no subject
[And Minato went to get those pancakes made and they did come out as an interesting blue color and had with some cream cheese glaze on the side. He did serve them when they were ready.]
You're new here?
no subject
Yes. Just the other day, actually. Still adjusting to the quirks of this place... It's definitely something new to me.
no subject
[Since Minato didn't want to bother him while he was eating if he wanted the time to himself. Minato could always catch him afterward. Or he hoped so, anyway.]
no subject
I heard something about Magic. Care to explain in more detail?
no subject
Mn, your room will change into whatever room you want. The closets will give you most anything you need. The dining room and tearooms provide whatever food you think of.
[Among other things. He tried not to dwell on where everything came from and what it was made of. Besides magic. Like the whole "do you think that's air you're breathing" type of stuff? He was going to take Wonderland's word for it.]
no subject
[ it's mostly a joke, but it's not too far off. after all, how could a place that gave you anything you wanted or needed be bad? besides the obvious, of course. ]
Strange how it seems to have that power and yet we can't wish ourselves back home.
no subject
I think it's just lonely, so it does what it can to keep us here.
[But how it went about that was questionable. They had everything that they'd really need except for freedom? But Minato guessed he couldn't really blame it. He had his reasons for wanting to stay.]
no subject
[ it's an odd way of looking at things, but then again, palaces themselves were built on people's emotions. in a way, they were sentient, too. he still hasn't discredited this place as not being one, though, so.... ]
It's an odd thought.
no subject
[Maybe. Minato couldn't be sure, but he liked that explanation. Plus he didn't mind being here either, thus thinking of it as being something alive on some level was like he was keeping it company. It was an odd thought, he had to agree.]
Oh, I'm Arisato Minato. And you?
no subject
[ and like the pleasant boy he is, he extends a gloved-hand with an equally charming smile. ]
no subject
Same.
[Ah, but that name.]
What year is it back home for you?
[He could only assume, anyway, that he was Japanese and from Japan, but really, he could've been Japanese but from anywhere else in the world. Minato only assumed so because it seemed like lately, there were several people from Japan who arrived recently.]
no subject
[ which makes him wonder if there's something to that. so, still politely, he tilts his head to the side, smile slipping into a look of mere curiosity. ]
I take it it's different for you?
no subject
[2016 was again so far in the future. It was only 6 years, but for someone only 17, that was already like a third of his life.]
What's the future like?
no subject
[ an amused look!! ]
Cellular phones have come much further in the past six years.
no subject
Like how?
[Please explain. His phone was still a flip phone of all things.]
no subject
no subject
What kind of applications are on phones now?
no subject
[ he pauses and then reaches into his pocket. ]
It's not much use here, of course, but you're welcome to take a look.
[ he's one of those people that never keeps his texts, anyway, so it's fine!! ]
no subject
What's this?
[Minato showed the phone to Akechi and pointed out a red square of an app on the phone.]
no subject
That? It showed up on my phone one day. It's quite the story behind it....
[ he's fairly certain the others have told other residents about their powers, knowing this place was essentially a vacuum, so.... ]
A bit supernatural, if you will.
