Summary: It’s Mettaton’s One Year Anniversary Concert! Come on in and celebrate with him!
The Story:

It’s been a strange year for Wonderland’s favorite celebrity. He’s made friends and enemies, he’s seen things both strange and hauntingly beautiful and he’s had many laughs to fill his time. He never imagined he’d be here for an entire year but it seems his contract with this place isn’t expiring anytime soon.

So what better way to celebrate an anniversary than with a performance?

During the day on May 31st posters pop up all over the mansion, on pillars and walls and light fixtures and also some rose bushes in the gardens because of course. They all have one thing in common: beautiful gold typography advertising-

MTT’S GRAND ONE YEAR WONDERLAND ANNIVERSARY! COME ONE, COME ALL, TO ANOTHER SPECTACULAR MTT-BRAND CONCERT!

CELEBRATE A FANTASTIC YEAR WITH YOURS TRULY! DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY WITH QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT! TAKE A BREAK FROM THE MUNDANE TO SPEND A NIGHT SURROUNDED BY GLAMOUR! PARTY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND GET AWAY FROM IT ALL!

FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED, AS ALWAYS! PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND SPECIES ARE WELCOME!

Of course! I'm never happier than when I am up on stage. It's my whole life.

[He looks fondly towards the stage, proudly looking over all of his hard work. For a moment his eyes go to the place where he hid the mirror but other than his gaze shifting he reveals nothing.]

If you ever want to perform here yourself with that ukulele, you're welcome to. I mostly end up using this place for my own business but it's open for everyone to use.

[Oh, he...it's a nice offer. It's just an offer, of course, but it's a nice one, even if they're not sure they can visualize themself owning and earning the stage the way he does. A good thought to have. Not much besides that.

Frisk's shoulders hitch in a small shrug, somewhat sheepishly.]

I think you're, um...better at that.

Well of course I am better at it, I've had years of experience! That doesn't disqualify you from getting there though.

[Everyone starts somewhere, after all.]

All performances are different, whether they're big and public or small and intimate. And everything in between! You don't have to put anything out there that is like what I do; whatever fits you as an artist is what you should endeavor to do.

[Performing for anything more animated than a set up device to pick up the tones of a strummed ukulele, a timid lifting of their voice, is a daunting prospect at best, but if they shrink any further into themself, he might think it's his fault.

They're braver than that. Aren't they? They were never very orange to begin with.]

[Mettaton's grin practically splits his face open at the suggestion.]

Yes! I would love to see you two up on stage together. I guarantee I would be in the front row for that one!

[With obnoxiously loud and busy looking head gear and merch supporting two of his favorite people. He'll make it if he has to, don't test him.]

I know you would.

[His support of Napstablook, while belated back home, is nonetheless genuine. That much he's made readily apparent.]

They suggested we should start a band, once. [Maybe they should finally follow up on that, complete with the theremin.]

Did they now? You, them, and who else would be involved in this band?

[He thinks he may have heard of this before, but it's still good to ask all the same.]

Chara.

[Was there ever any doubt?]

Napstablook plays the theremin, I play the ukulele, and Chara screams. It's art.

Chara... screams?

[It's fitting but also slightly alarming.]

So you would be a scream-o ukulele band? With the... theremin?

[Unorthodox but you know what, music has no rules.]

Yes.

[That's a nod, yes. Unorthodox is practically a given when one-third of the band is a ghost, one-third is a dead child, and the last one-third is a child who's simply a little too well-acquainted with the concept of death and dying, period.

They make a good, thematically-consistent trio, if Frisk does say so themself.]

[Their yes is so... solid. Unyielding. A fact. A statement to their and the rest of their band's place in the universe.]

You three might turn some heads but you know what? You'll turn a lot more to liking your music in the end. Does that mean you or Chara would be your manager?

[He pointedly does not mention Napstablook because, while he loves his dear cousin, they are not at all equipped to deal with that sort of pressure. Then again, this is all in good fun so there isn't much to actually worry about.]

[determinedest]

[Manager. Right. Bands have managers. Frisk chews on their lip for a moment before their head lists to one side, brow crinkling.]

....yes?

[mettatonvevo]

[Mettaton giggles a little at their clear uncertainty.]

Perfect! You three will be wonderful together.

[At this point he checks the time, smiles, and looks back to them.]

All right, well, I hate to cut this short, darling, but it'll be time for me to go back on stage soon!

[determinedest]

[Right, yes. They're delaying him, and they shouldn't...

At least they kept him company. Gave him something to look forward to, maybe.]

Okay. I'll, um, see you after?

[mettatonvevo]

Of course, darling! I hope you enjoy the show!

[He's grinning widely, imagining their excited face during the rest of his performance.]

Don't be afraid to get right up into the front row now!

[Mettaton starts turning away, beginning to assemble whatever he needs next... even as he waits to uncover his mirror once more.]

Okay.

[They're going to leave, and he's going to be alone again. Or...not alone. Which is worse. Their thin shoulders creep upward in a faint hunch before they drop, and they smile.

It's forced.]
