Summary: It’s Mettaton’s One Year Anniversary Concert! Come on in and celebrate with him!
The Story:

It’s been a strange year for Wonderland’s favorite celebrity. He’s made friends and enemies, he’s seen things both strange and hauntingly beautiful and he’s had many laughs to fill his time. He never imagined he’d be here for an entire year but it seems his contract with this place isn’t expiring anytime soon.

So what better way to celebrate an anniversary than with a performance?

During the day on May 31st posters pop up all over the mansion, on pillars and walls and light fixtures and also some rose bushes in the gardens because of course. They all have one thing in common: beautiful gold typography advertising-

MTT’S GRAND ONE YEAR WONDERLAND ANNIVERSARY! COME ONE, COME ALL, TO ANOTHER SPECTACULAR MTT-BRAND CONCERT!

CELEBRATE A FANTASTIC YEAR WITH YOURS TRULY! DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY WITH QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT! TAKE A BREAK FROM THE MUNDANE TO SPEND A NIGHT SURROUNDED BY GLAMOUR! PARTY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND GET AWAY FROM IT ALL!

FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED, AS ALWAYS! PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND SPECIES ARE WELCOME!

[Sans starts to get up. It's slow and creaky and Mettaton immediately holds out a hand to try and help him stand. It took no thought to offer his help, his presence, and quietly he chides himself. He's so soft for people he cares about. It always seems to trip him up in the end.]

Thank you, darling. I'm glad you were here to see it.

[He repeats the sentiment again because he wants, no, needs Sans to understand that he wants him around. Which of course in the end is so terribly selfish, seeing as he is supposed to be letting people go. But... things have been shifting. And part of him is starting to think that maybe he should keep some people around.

It's a small thought. There's not much to it yet. But he pulls back his hands when Sans looks steady enough on his feet and considers what it would be like if he didn't hold anything back.]

Not easy, no. But it's always possible.

[So many things are possible. They just need that spark.]

All right. You take care of yourself, you hear?

[punful]

[Mettaton offers a hand, Sans takes it, grin flickering briefly into something genuine and grateful. It's so much easier to stand when you have something to hold onto.]

[He steadies himself.]

yeah. same.

[He doesn't really think Mettaton would have noticed his absence--or would have just chalked it up to Sans's cowardice. Which wouldn't have been wrong.]

[But Sans is glad he came.]

[He shrugs at the comment. Always possible. Anything is possible. But that never means that something's going to happen. In Sans's experience, it's always going to just fizzle out. It's all, always, going to be for nothing.]
