Who: Bucky and anyone
Where: Ski resort and mansion
When: The event and the day after
Rating: Event death
Summary: All things snowy and cold
The Story:
one: there's no such thing as too much snow
[Bucky doesn't like the cold. It's something he adjusts to, when he has to, but he's not a fan. So he stays inside for the first part of the event, rummaging through the kitchen to make his own version of hot cocoa. Cinnamon to spice it up. He'll make a couple mugs and take them with him as he curls up with Sugar by the fire. After that, he'll find his way outside, looking around to see what everyone is doing with their surprise vacation.
He can be pulled into a snowball fight or help someone who wants to ski or snowboard (though he won't actually do that himself) or can be persuaded to head inside for cards or something similar.]
two: there's too much snow
[It was the day after the event that Bucky woke up again or came back to life. He was huddled up against the wall, legs drawn up under his knees, staring at nothing. He'd died yesterday. There was a girl in the snow, lost, and he'd been out making sure nobody was hurt or caught in the storm. Steve was rubbing off on him. It hadn't been smart to go out, but he was strong and figured that if he could help people, he should.
She'd been hurt and as unpredictable as snow could be, they'd toppled over a steep incline and he'd twisted to take the brunt of it. He could tell he was injured, more than the serum could keep up with, something even it couldn't heal. Bucky had managed to get her closer to the inn before everything had gone black.
But that was yesterday and today he was trying to figure out why he wasn't relieved that he was magically alive. He didn't want to be dead, but he didn't feel good about the whole thing. Bucky lifts his head when he hears someone approaching. He's visibly upset but doesn't say anything at first.]
three: wildcard
[Bucky is available for any of the event shenanigans. If either of the options above (one is during event and one is post) don’t fit with your character, feel free to pick something. I’m super flexible and would love to get Bucky out and about. I can be messaged through my journal or through

[The events, though, haven't been so bad on Bucky. There were a few that left their marks - rooms flooding and people drowning, that kind of stuff, but all in all, he's lucked out. They've been strange and different, but nothing he'd classify as bad.]
If I'm being honest, I prefer it here. [He waves dismissively around them.] Wonderland. It's better than back home.

Am I asking too much to ask why you prefer this place? Not that I mind it and am content here even with the events, but I know some have their reasons. [And it certainly sound as if Bucky did.]

How long you got? [His mouth quirks.] Short version, there's people back home that would lock me up or worse.
Here, nobody bothers me.

[Perhaps it is the wrong answer, but it's truly how Newt feels.]
I can understand that, and if you want to talk about it more, we can.
I'm not sure what's going to happen to me when I return. I had just overcome a death sentence, by escaping custody, so there's a chance I'm returning to that soon than later.
I admit, it's part of why I like it here as well. Here I can just be me.

A death sentence? The same goes for you, too. [A beat.] If you wanna tell me about it, I can listen. If not, that's okay too.
[Wonderland was a prison for some, freedom for others. It wasn't always great here, but it offered Bucky a chance to live. He didn't take that for granted.]
Maybe we can sit somewhere and talk?
no subject
Actually talking about it would be nice, as well as perhaps hearing what happened in your world. Certainly. Let's do that. I'd like to learn more about you and your life.

Saw a couple seats out by the fire, we can go there?
[Or somewhere else. Unfortunately they're stuck in the Inn and surrounding locations.]

[At least the environment was nice, and even if most were waiting for the bad to come with the good, for now it was a delight.]
Do lead on.

Don't know how sharing horrible experiences will go, so why don't we take turns?
[It might be easier for Bucky if they go back and forth. He's open to the idea of sharing, he's just never really done it before.]

Fair enough. I can start then. My death sentence. I was in New York trying to return a creature to where he belonged. I had a case of others with me. They escaped. In a country that has banned magical creatures.
no subject
The death sentence was because they'd escaped? They do that. It's not like you did it on purpose.
[Escape, not let go.]
Were they.. successful in their punishment?
no subject
No, not because they escaped. It was because I brought them into the country at all. They're forbidden and under orders to execute them on sight for the risk they pose to the wizarding world. Except they pose no threat. It's about learning about them, not killing them for existing.
[To that Newt shakes his head once more.]
No. Thanks to someone else's help and some ingenuity, we managed to get out of there. Sadly it wasn't only me they were planning to kill but someone who tried to warn them as well.
