Caution is for other men
Who: Newt Scamander, You
Where: Outside
When: All three days
Rating: PG for injury
Summary: Much of it is just Newt enjoying the snow. Except the end of the second day when he manages to take a tumble skiing and breaks his leg. DEFINITELY open for a doctor or medical types for that.
The Story:
Day One
The first day, with all the snow and the changes, Newt can't help but to enjoy himself. Andy the pyjak wants nothing to do with the snow, hiding out inside, but Newt has thrown himself into it all wholeheartedly.
Snowball fights. Building snow creatures that look nothing like the creatures out of the muggle world. Enjoying hot chocolate while staring out at the views and resting from all he's been doing. Join him. Have fun. Make him a target. He's loving it all.
Day Two
Most of day two was like the first. Newt was just enjoying it all. Which is what led him to trying out skiing. He's been watching others do it, he's worn snow shoes before and it can't be all that hard. He's seen so many trying it.
The first run goes well for him in fact. Well enough that he fairly well rushes back up the mountain to go again. Which was his mistake. Well enough should have been good enough. About half way down the run he lost his balance. Toppling head over heels, the snow flying up around him. He felt the flash of pain even as his ski twisted to one side before flying off.
Coming to a stop, Newt realizes two things. One, that was almost fun. Two, as he tries to get on his feet he realizes quickly that he isn't capable of putting weight on his left leg.

Which wasn't true, and even he knows that. Yet if they're going to be here for a long time, as evidenced by what Coraline and others were telling him, he has to do something to make the time here bearable. It's all Newt's been trying to do.
"And that's the best thing you can do here. Look to the positive things you have, and the chances that we have here." He knew it was as much platitudes as trying to be honest with her but he wants to try and offer her something to get through this. Even if she's been surviving it so much longer than he has.
"As for Andy, I promise to keep working with him," he vows. Glancing around a moment before nodding. "I admit, I rather like this. I didn't think much about enjoying the snow when I first arrived, so having it now is a second chance."
Newt frowns then, not looking happy at all. "They said you were..." The word is familiar though his mind wants to say something about it despite the uncertainty he feels. While not here for the event, the word has started to fade. "Why would anyone do that?"

Like most clever, chatterbox children, Coraline had a most peculiar sort of clarity in her reasoning.
"Anyway," she looks hopefully back up the slopes, gripping her saucer sled in contemplation, weighing whether she wanted to give the mountainside another go, or head indoors for cocoa. Might as well enjoy things while the sun was bright and made everything sparkle. "I hope you get to enjoy the snow too, while it lasts, because it probably won't be back till Christmas!" Which always seemed to be when winter started up in Wonderland, like clockwork.
"Maybe if you look hard enough, you'll find some magic snow rabbits!" Coraline calls out cheerfully in suggestion, waving at Newt as she starts to trudge uphill.

"Well, never believe that is all of us, or that you are different or less for who are you. You are special and amazing for who you are, and not who you might be during events here. Never let anyone make you feel any different."
Newt hates that it seems to many worlds let children feel that way, or anyone believe they're lesser. Sadly, as with many other things, it seems to be natural to humans. No matter what else they are.
Her words though make Newt smile and he nods eagerly. "I hope the same for you. Enjoy yourself and be careful!"
Laughing at the comment about magic snow rabbits... even if he may keep his eyes peeled for exactly that for the rest of the event.
