Caution is for other men

Who: Newt Scamander, You
Where: Outside
When: All three days
Rating: PG for injury
Summary: Much of it is just Newt enjoying the snow. Except the end of the second day when he manages to take a tumble skiing and breaks his leg. DEFINITELY open for a doctor or medical types for that.
The Story:

Day One

The first day, with all the snow and the changes, Newt can't help but to enjoy himself. Andy the pyjak wants nothing to do with the snow, hiding out inside, but Newt has thrown himself into it all wholeheartedly.

Snowball fights. Building snow creatures that look nothing like the creatures out of the muggle world. Enjoying hot chocolate while staring out at the views and resting from all he's been doing. Join him. Have fun. Make him a target. He's loving it all.

Day Two

Most of day two was like the first. Newt was just enjoying it all. Which is what led him to trying out skiing. He's been watching others do it, he's worn snow shoes before and it can't be all that hard. He's seen so many trying it.

The first run goes well for him in fact. Well enough that he fairly well rushes back up the mountain to go again. Which was his mistake. Well enough should have been good enough. About half way down the run he lost his balance. Toppling head over heels, the snow flying up around him. He felt the flash of pain even as his ski twisted to one side before flying off.

Coming to a stop, Newt realizes two things. One, that was almost fun. Two, as he tries to get on his feet he realizes quickly that he isn't capable of putting weight on his left leg.

"I'm not telling you not to read it, just that it's complete bollocks." Honestly, how people could take a book written by a group of men, decades after the events, which had been translated and retranslated so many times.. as seriously as they did? It sure made his job a lot easier, especially when they missed the whole point of the New Testament.

Crowley shrugs then, along with a vague wave of his cigarette.

"Heaven is boring. They don't tell you that in the brochure, but it's.. boring. None of the good musicians go there, and they don't have a single sushi restaurant."

"Several grains of salt." Newt is a curious one, and curiosity can be such a dangerous thing if it's directed in the right (ie, wrong) kinds of ways. Crowley's used it to his advantage before, but that was different, that was orders, and he doesn't follow those kinds of orders here.

"And I'm sure it's just great, if you're a human. Me? I prefer something a bit more lively. Maybe with some classical music and good wine."

"Would you? Lucky, you, then. You fall under the 'witches' category, and witches don't go Upstairs."

It isn't as if it's the first time he's told someone they're going to Hell. There's never any particular joy in that revelation - he doesn't go back to the place for a reason - but sending human souls there is part of his job, and guys like this one don't need any work at all.

"You'll be hanging out with the fallen party boys when you shuffle off your mortal coil."

"Don't ask me, I have my own problems with what goes on Up There."

Obviously, since he chose to leave. Exactly why he chose to leave is not a matter to be gone into at any point, with anyone, even the likes of Aziraphale. No one needs to know anything other than he decided he didn't like the place and, as they put it, sauntered vaguely downwards in the wake of the rebellion of a full third of the Host.

"But if you're going to get upset by that kind of thing, I'd recommend you don't read that book at all."

"How things are for me? Things are. It's not Up There I concern myself with."

Demon, remember? How things are for him with that Heaven pale far, far in comparison to how things are for him with that Hell. In terms of Hell, he just tries to keep as clear of things as possible and hope that they don't want him for anything.

The last time they wanted him for something, they handed him a baby.

"And, as a general rule, there's only one angel who concerns himself with me."
