[OPEN] Lose yourself in the music

Summary: Wonderland's music festival is here! Perform on stage or just chill, mingle and eat snacks!
The Story:




The actual event doesn't start until the evening, but if you happen to pass by the lake in the morning, you may hear the sounds of people decorating along with a stage being put together. If anyone has time to spare, a lending hand in setting things up is always welcome!

When the sun starts to set, the main attraction of the event is finally in place. Upon entry, everyone will be handed out glowsticks and glow in the dark bracelets. A varietly of lights surrounding the area were there to brighten up the stage. Colored lights were strung together on poles and paper latern bags were also used to illuminate the setting. In the center, is a make shift stage. While it wasn't anything like a live arena, there was still quite a bit of room in case anyone wanted to sing with several people and dance. The stage is open for anyone to participate! Singing, playing an instrument, dancing, or even terrible karaoke with friends. Everyone is invited to have fun and enjoy themselves!

Even if you don't have any musical talents, you can still join in by watching the performances or chat with others. A snack table with a variety of treats and drinks is set up for everyone. There's a variety of cookies, cakes, fruits, cheeses and even Japanese food like riceballs, cabbage rolls and croquettes. Made by the suggestion of John Blake are all sorts of speciality popcorns like, chile-lime, s'mores and cheddar caramel corn. There's a lot of food and everyone is welcome to take anything with them in goodie bags.

[ it's remarkable how unexpected situations can make you lose all those years of practicing a poker-face. he avoided the unknown for this exact reason. ]

I suppose that's true. [ he forces a very tired smile and looks back at souji. ]

Has that happened to you since you've been here?

Lots of times. [Having been here so long, it's probably to be expected.] Especially after the third time I died.

[That...feels like an odd thing to say out loud. He doesn't talk about his deaths much.]

[ .... excuse him? while he's learned that it's possible to die here (and come back) hearing it mentioned so candidly catches him off guard. especially with all that he knows. ]

... You certainly are a magnet for danger.

[ it's meant as a joke, but he can't help but think it's partially true. ]

Maybe. It's been three years since then, though.

[He thinks it's pretty good that in six years, he's only died three times. That means he only has one more get out of jail free card, though.]

Is there any reason for that? Or just pure luck?

[ he hasn't exactly heard about what happens when you die too many times. one death is more than enough for him, thank you very much. ]

Luck, mostly.

[Sure, he's been looking out for danger, but he had been the second and third time, too, and he'd still died.]

There are times when something like that turns out to be unavoidable.

I suppose I should consider myself lucky that things have, for the most part, been fairly tame since May. The calm before the storm, maybe.

[ looking on the bright-side! maybe. he shrugs and can't help sneak another peek over his shoulder - goddamnit. ]

[Okay, Souji's not leaving it alone this time.]

Who do you think's going to show up?

[ he's a horrible liar, sometimes. surprisingly? ]

... Kurusu.

[ it's a half-assed murmur as he reaches for another snack to occupy himself with. ]

...Why?

[Souji knows next to nothing about Akira, other than what the other Phantom Thieves have told him. He's only spoken to him once before.]

[ he's not sure if that's better. or worse. maybe both. somehow. best to keep this vague, though. ]

Just a bit of a -- [ words, phrasing. ] -- misunderstanding last week. That's all.

[Unfortunately for Akechi, like all Persona protagonists, Souji is notoriously willing to get up in peoples' business.]

What kind of misunderstanding?

[ he needs to stop associating with protagonists. he thinks he's allergic. he was hoping he would let it drop, that he wouldn't pry, but here they are. if he avoids talking about it, then that's even more suspicious and souji may end up asking akira directly. which would mean that akira would know akechi was bringing it up to other people. that couldn't do. but. but if he explained it to souji, that was another slew of problems. why did he come to this festival again? ]

We had fake memories during that week. [ starting absurdly, stupidly simple. ]

[So it was related to the event after all. Then Akechi wasn't lying, just being incredibly vague and misdirecting.]

Right. I remember. [Go on.]

[jurisdick]

[ GOD DAMNIT. ]

We didn't know each other in that 'world'. [ make something up, he thinks loudly in his head, nearly crushing the rather attractive pastry in his hand. ]

Did something happen?

[He's trying to think of what that might have been, but again, he doesn't know Akira--or Akechi--well enough to even start guessing.]

[jurisdick]

[ wildcards are unfairly perceptive, he's realizing. much like akira, souji has this weird air around him that makes akechi unexpectedly open up, whether he wants to or not. words just kind of happen. ]

Something like that.

[ cease. desist. ]

And there was a misunderstanding.

And now you're nervous about talking to him.

[Fill in the blanks, will you, Akechi?]

[ ... you're making it seem so dramatic. gosh. man. it's totally fine. there are no blanks!! ]

Oversimplified, but yes. That's the gist of it.

[ the grave. it gets deeper and deeper. ]

How bad a misunderstanding could it have been?

[ does he tell him? does he not? the same fears from a few moments ago are circling in his head again. he bites down harder than necessary on the pastry. just. ]

You'd be surprised.

[ no that's not what he meant to say at all. that's not smooth? or sneaky? ]

[But that doesn't mean he'll let it go.]

What happened?

[Souji knows no limits on nosiness.]

[ YOU KNOW WHAT. he knows your type. you protagonists with your weird haircuts.

so he's going to murmur into the pastry.... ]

He may have thought I was interested in him in that way.

[Souji resists the urge to say "oh is that all?" because wow, that would be rude. Besides, memories of being in love with Adachi during an event kind of mean he can't really judge here.]

What are you worried he's going to say?

[ ... yeah, okay, being in love with adachi may win out in a battle of shitty situations. he's tense. oh so tense. he hasn't even thought that far. ]

Knowing him, he's going to think I was being serious.
