Summary: Ray has led Sarah on a scavanger hunt that's taken all day and she doesn't know why. There will be top levels along the way!
The Story:

[ When Sarah wakes up alone, panic is naturally the go-to emotion. All of Ray's friends seem to be disappearing one by one, and she can't help wondering if he's next. Her fear is quickly soothed by an envelope on her nightstand with 'don't worry, I'm still here written in Ray's handwriting. Sitting up, she reads instructions for a scavenger hunt, but she really needs coffee before anything so she makes herself a cup, then rereads it. Go to the roof, don't wear heels. Take pictures with people she comes across. But why??? Honestly, this sounds like a plot to get her to exercise.

Still, she dresses in comfortable clothes, sneakers, and after eating breakfast (what, it's important) she makes her way to the roof where she finds another envelope and her second clue.

In a world filled with magic and the unknown, 'The only thing I'm sure of is you.' We'll make a home wherever we go. ]

Oh. Okay. I'm terrible at puzzles.

[ And then she shouts it from the roof because maybe Ray can hear her wherever she is. ]

I'M TERRIBLE AT PUZZLES, RAY.

[ Still, she's gotta try to figure this out. ]

( helena had gone to the ballroom to scope it out, to find a room that was big enough for her next experiment. she'd ignored the things, even people in the room until the woman had called out. turning from the notes she'd been making helena looked her over )

No, they're not. They were here when I arrived.

[ Sarah pulls out the rack and pulls out the dress with the note to 'wear me' still pinned to it. That's when she realizes what it is, which dress it is, and she laughs. ]

God, he's good.

[ Draping the dress over her arm, she starts looking around, poking at things. Then, she calls to the same woman again. ]

Hey, have you seen a white envelope anywhere?

( she puts her notepad down, taking a few steps closer towards the woman. she hadn't seen an envelope, but then helena had been pretty focused on what she'd been looking for )

I haven't, though I hadn't been looking for once. Do you know how big it is?

[ Sarah pulls the one she already has out of her back pocket and shows her. ]

Standard greeting card size, I think? I'm not sure if they're all gonna be the same, but the first couple looked like this, anyway.

If the first few were this size then it's a reasonable assumption that more will be too.

( helena hands the envelope back to her, turning to look around the room )

Do you know what they're for? It may give a clue as to where they're hidden.

Oh, yeah, my boyfriend is doing a thing. A scavenger hunt to pass the time, I guess?

[ It's not out of the ordinary at all for Ray to come up with stuff, so she really isn't questioning it as she looks around the room. ]

How've you been, by the way? I don't think I've seen you in a few weeks.

( her head tips back to sarah at her question )

That's because I've been quite busy.

( partly messing with said boyfriend, not that helena's aware of that part )

I don't visit that many parts of the mansion.

( maybe that's why you don't have friends, helena. get out more )

Do you prefer the reclusive life? It's kinda hard to not see someone in this place for a while. It's a huge place but we're all kind of...orbiting around one another all the time.

[ It takes effort to just not be seen for days at a time when you haven't actually disappeared. ]

I wouldn't call it reclusive.

( hard to connect, ridiculously focussed. perhaps obsessive )

Just preoccupied with a project.

Oh, well, that happens to my boyfriend. Doesn't come out of his lab for days when he's really working hard on something.

[ She smiles fondly, though. ]

Scientists and their toys, am I right?

I don't know about everyone, though I don't know if I'd call myself a scientist.

( helena you definitely are, even if it's another sort of science )

Oh? Just someone who likes to tinker, then?

[ Nothing wrong with that! Curious minds and all. ]

I've invented a few things over the years.

( 'a few'. 'years'. understatement, much )

I'd like to think that could solve our problem here, though I know I wouldn't be the first to try.

[ Sarah is searching and searching for this envelope and then - ]

Ah-ha!

[ She holds it up in her hand victoriously, then lets out a breath. ]

But yeah, people try all the time to get out of here. I think one time it led to some kind of explosion, the mirrors got loose and killed a bunch of people and that was not a great time.

[ Sarah may have some facts...wrong, best not to trust her as your sole source of info on this. ]

Another clue for this scavenger hunt I'm on.

[ She reads it out loud, since Helena's curious and helped. ]

'Nobody puts Sarah Weller in the corner. And no one watches a movie marathon of 80s classics quite like you, either.'

[ So where is this clue leading her, exactly? ]

I gave him a pile of movies for required viewing over Christmas.

[ Hmmmmm. ]

Is there somewhere that makes that clue relevant? Other than the movies you gave to him.

( she has no idea about the movie theater. don't ask if she's ever watched a movie, either )

[ Sarah thinks for a few minutes, pacing a little as she looks down at the clue. Then, she stops, grinning. ]

The movie theater. We marathoned all of these movies...I gotta go.

[ She really wants to find the next clue, now. ]

( she's curious now )

If I ever get to the end. Honestly, this could go on for days knowing Ray.

[ But that's said so affectionately, and she moves to leave the ballroom. ]
