Oh my gosh. [ just as they're about to drift off to sleep, ray sits up in bed, urgent and like he's about to bolt. some revelation has punched him directly in the chest. ] I don't want it back.

[ It's actually enough to scare the shit out of her just as she was dozing off. ]

What! What? Were you dreaming?

[ She reaches out, her hand kind of dead-fish flapping against his chest in what is sleepy reassurance. ]

Sleep.

[shrinkage]

[ he catches her hand with both of his and kisses it gomez-style until he's at her neck, tickling her into wakefulness. ]

Awake. Awake!

[ She can't help but laugh, squirming a little but not really to get away, and finally she rolls onto her back to look up at him. ]

Okay, I'm definitely awake. What's going on?

[shrinkage]

[ he's laughing with her, and rolling with her, and he stops perched over her on all fours. ]

I don't want to try to rebuild the ATOM here.

[blackbirdsing]

Oh. Well, that's okay. But why? What made you decide that?

[ She's looking up at him comfortably, hands resting at his hips. ]

You. Well-- us. This.

[ he pulls her left hand into his, fidgeting with the ring she'd accepted from him. ]

Getting to have this is... I don't need anything else.

[blackbirdsing]

[ It's a beautiful sentiment, but everyone needs something. She just won't be surprised at all when he starts tinkering on something that may or may not become another suit. For now, she pulls him into a light kiss. ]

You know, you were the first person I ever thought I could seriously have all of this with again. I shouldn't even say 'again' because the first time was horrible and the only good part was Sawyer. You gave me a lot of hope, really early, that I could have this one day.

I gave you hope?

[ his voice is quiet, and tender. of all the things he wants for sarah, he's deciding hope is near the top of the list. safety, happiness, and-- yeah, hope. ]

Yeah.

[ Her voice drops too, and she reaches out to let her thumb move over the apple of his cheek softly. ]

I never knew how much I wasn't loved like this in the past. Not until you showed me what it should really be. Does that even make sense?

[shrinkage]

[ whoops ok there it goes. ray tears up a little, because that's literally the exact perfect thing to tell him ever. ]

Yes. I feel the same, babe. I feel like you love me as much as I love you. Like we're partners.

That's because I do. I do love you that much.

[ And now she just. Kind of. Has to kiss him, and it' s a little bit desperate, but not so much that she's trying to derail the conversation if he still wants to talk. Yet. ]

[ he's happy for the distraction and it's not until they're breathless and tangled up in sheets that he feels brave enough to say it-- ]

Is it OK that I asked Doc to be my best man? Will Kurt be upset? Because I can have two best men you know, this is Wonderland and we can just do whatever we want.

[ apparently, nobody told ray thinking about sarah's brother while they get down isn't great etiquette... ]

Oh, Ray. Hang on, no.

[ She sits up a little bit. ]

First of all, don't say my brother's name while we're naked. Second...he's walking me down the aisle. It's important. You should have Doc be your best man, it's fine, I promise.

[ he cringes at her correction and makes a fun mental note of no kurt while you can see your future wife's breasts, check and then nods with relief. ]
