Who: Henry Mills, Regina Mills
Where: Their room
When: Sunday the 15th
Rating: G, PG? Just some last kid Henry things :3
Summary: Henry makes his mom breakfast in bed because the event was exhausting.
The Story:
[ For the first time in a while, Henry's up before his mom and after some quiet contemplation, decides he should do something for her. Something nice and not just picking up his stuff without her telling him to. He'll be another (frozen in time) year older in a week or two, and that happens to coincide with that one time he dragged Emma to Storybrooke. He doesn't regret it, it's actually the best thing he's ever done for his family, but he still said and did things he regrets. So, that's part of the reason why he does clean his room up, and he does make sure all his comics are straightened up and neat before heading to the kitchen.
He also knows this event was hard on his mom. He knows what happened with Michonne, and he knows it was deeply upsetting. He hasn't asked a ton of questions, but he can tell it had to be terrible. Which is why he gets to work on apple cinnamon pancakes, bacon, and coffee. When it's all done (and wow, hey, the bacon isn't really horribly burnt, go him), he puts it on a tray with a single flower in a vase and makes his way to his mom's room, knocking lightly first before going inside and putting the tray down on her nightstand. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he reaches out to lightly shake her shoulder, whispering so he doesn't scare her into thinking something's wrong. ]
Mom, wake up.

Mom, wake up.

Sometimes they come back because of a wish and aren't the person you know, they're just a stranger wearing their face and end up running off with your other half.
Michonne is okay now, now. But it doesn't change what happened, what she did, what they went through. She doesn't have troubled sleep very often, all things considered but lately...]
He -- [Her eyes blink open and she looks around.] Henry? what's going on?
no subject
Breakfast in bed. I made it.
[ Like, halfway through he realized he could have just pulled everything out of the closet but where's the love in that? ]
I just thought you deserved something nice after the last event.
no subject
Oh.
[But then he goes and says that and her suspicions fade and she pulls herself up.]
Henry... [Why was she ever worried about what might happen to him if she was gone, if Emma was gone? Being trapped in the world behind the mirror seems so long ago now, but it's more relevant than ever.] I love you, Henry. Thank you.
no subject
I love you, too, mom.
[ He's still in his pajamas, so while she eats, he sits at the end of her bed by her legs, pulling his own under his body. ]
I've kind of been thinking. About...what's next. Back home, I mean. School and...driving, what's next. That kind of stuff.
no subject
That just means it's even more special. While she starts to eat, she raises a brow.]
David is not allowed to give you driving lessons. I don't care what either of you say. Not after last time.
[she CAN'T ALLOW AN UNLICENSED UNDERAGE DRIVER ON THE STREETS.]
You mean college? Or... something else.
no subject
[ ....that's not all but anyway. ]
What if I don't really want to go to college?
no subject
[AND I CAN'T BE JOSSED BECAUSE OF HYPERION HEIGHTS.]
College isn't even a thing where I'm from. And if you really need one, we can always get you a diploma with a curse like Whale and Archie have.
no subject
Can Belle drive? Did you let her know how to as part of the curse?
[ Unclear because she was locked up but that's neither here nor there. ]
So, you're saying you would really be okay with me...not wanting to keep going to school?
[ Because like, he barely goes anyway, so...]
no subject
[Don't be so blasé about that Regina what the fuck.]
We'll find a teacher. Somehow.
[She's quiet for a minute after that because...]
I don't think I ever really thought about it. First there was the curse, and then... everything else. And then you were the Author, and we were in Camelot. And Hell.
no subject
[ He doesn't even pick up on how casually she talks about Belle being locked up. It's just a part of the story and they're all one big happy family now, allegedly. ]
I want to go places, mom. Outside of Storybrooke. I mean, think about it: There are thousands of stories out there. What else could I find if I look?
no subject
[Honestly, what was she even thinking? How is that a punishment for Snow White? So many things she could do over and ensure the curse never breaks. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.]
A new villain. A new curse. Something far more dangerous than anything we've ever faced.
[She's not opposed, exactly. It's just...]
no subject
[ Right?? ]

[ He's growing up in so many ways, and the way the conversation and his tone shifts is proof. ]
I know you just want to protect me. But what if my story is out there, somewhere? Away from home.

[ He looks at her and then gives a sort of lop sided smile. ]
I wouldn't go if you really did hate it. I could...I dunno. Work with Emma at the police station or something even though nothing ever happens that only a police officer could help with. Or maybe I could help Belle at the library.
[ He doesn't really want to do either of those things in any way, shape, or form. But he gets that his mom's lost a lot of people, a lot of people have gone away. So, if she really doesn't want him to go, he'd (probably) stay. For her. ]
no subject
You wouldn't be happy doing either of those things. This is really important to you, isn't it?
no subject
I wanna go see what's out there, mom. I don't think I can stay in Storybrooke forever.
no subject
[Certainly not because she cursed it herself. Nope nope nope. Not at all.]
no subject
[ And if that town line gets cursed the first person he'll look to is you, mom. ]
no subject
...I just want you to be sure, Henry.
no subject
[ He's definitely already made up his mind. ]
Besides. I can always come home, right?
