Skye tore through the ship, fearing she wouldn’t make it in time before her mother and the other Inhumans who still followed her got off the ship with the Terrigen Crystals. She couldn’t let her mother start this war against S.H.I.E.L.D.
“I’ll go after her.” Skye could see the panic in May’s eyes.
“Skye, I’ll do it. I’ve done it before.”
“No.”
“You have to be willing to—“
“I won’t hesitate. What ever it takes.”
Skye found her just as her men were getting ready to put the case of Terrigen Crystals on the plane.
“Mom! Stop! You can’t do this!” Skye watches as her men put the case down, preparing to fight for Jiaying’s cause.
“No, put them on the jet and get ready for takeoff.”
“I can’t let you leave with those crystals.” Skye knows that she can’t hesitate, even if this woman stand before her is her mother. A mother she had spent her entire life searching for. One disappointment after another, but this? This is the biggest disappointment of them all. Her own mother lied to her. Killed so many people. This is never what she imagined when she dreamed about one day meeting her.
“You can, and you should. It’s the only way to protect our people.”
“It’s not. There are other ways.” Skye was desperate to get through to her mother. To get her to understand that as much as she feels that she is protecting the Inhumans, so many innocent people could die at the hands of her.
“Whose ways? S.H.I.E.L.D.? No. Their way is what got us here.”
“You started this war!”
“This war started decades ago, when S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded to the guard the world against people like us. And it will never end. But you and I together, think of how powerful we could be. We could launch a revolution. Side by side.”
“I don’t want your revolution, because this isn’t about protecting me or your people. This is about hate.”
“No, you’re wrong.”
“It’s consumed you. You can’t even tell right from wrong. I can’t let you destroy any more lives.” They both knew the threat behind Skye’s words, except it wasn’t just a threat. She would go through with it. Skye knew there was no more talking her way out of this, Jiaying was too set on her ways.
“My daughter. So beautiful. So strong.” Hands cupping Skye’s face, Jiaying activated her power. Her power which sucked the lives out of others in order to prevent her from aging, or to heal herself. Skye could feel it instantly and could barely breathe.
“Mom. What are you…?”
“I always believed the reason I endured all that torture and pain was for you, that you were my gift. But you’re not. This is.”
Struggling to breathe Skye managed to gasp out a desperate plea,
“Don’t… Do this.”
“You made your choice. I’m sorry.”
Gathering as much strength as she could, Skye was able to knock the ship with the crystals off of the side of the ship and into the ocean.
Enraged Jiaying went for Skye again, instantly activating her powers again. Only this time Skye was prepared for her and rested her hand on her mothers shoulder, using her power to shake her from the inside.
“Please. Stop.”
Skye and Jiaying turned to see Cal, her father and Jiaying’s husband standing there.
“You don’t have to do this.” Cal was just as desperate for this to end without more death as Skye was, but he knew better. His attention turned to Skye.
“You don’t have to live with that pain. I will.” In an instant, Cal paralyzesJiaying and her hands fell free of Skye, who crumpled to the floor. Watching as the horror unfolded.
“Cal…? What are you doing?” Jiaying asked weakly.
“Keeping my promise.” Lifting her, Cal squeezes her hard enough to break her spine which kills her.
Skye could hear the bones snap, watching on as her mother went completely limp in his arms. Cal knelt to the floor, holding her while he sobbed.
All of these years searching for her parents, and her father killed her mother to protect her. To protect everyone.
[Daisy watches on in horror despite instantly knowing that this wasn't right. Still, Daisy desperately tries to change it. To try and knock her mother out without actually calling to her. She tries a few different ways, but each time it ends with her mother dead. Noticing on the fourth time the door that looks very much like the door to her room in wonderland, Daisy suddenly realizes. This was what Alice had warned them about. Eyes falling shut when she hears her mother's spine snap again Daisy could feel the hot tears rolling down her cheeks. Letting out a shaky gasp she finally managed to make it to the door and quickly stepped out and shut it behind her.
Everything out in the hallway looked normal. Knees weak, Daisy slid down the closed door before pulling her knees to her chest. If anyone came across her here they would probably hear her sobs before they spotted her on the floor.]
