It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!

Have fun!

{{CW: emotional trauma, domestic abuse, divorce, alcoholism}}

[There's shouting. It's audible long down the hall whether the door is open or closed, voices screaming at the top of their lungs trying to win by being the loudest.

It's his fault.

It's her fault.

He's slurring and staggering, throwing things. She's shouting back and telling him to leave. She says that he's damaging their home, and that he needs to pull himself together to take care of their family. She moves protectively in front of their child, the small boy settled on the ground drinking everything in without uttering a sound to participate. The mother's gesture is intended to spare the child, but it only draws the father's attention to him. Because really, isn't it the boy's failure that's brought them to this point? The stupid child keeps bringing home A-minuses, as if anyone worth anything could get rich off a minus. They're stuck in a backwater farming village, and for what? Raising a kid was supposed to be their ticket out, the father argues, but he'll clearly never do anything worthwhile.

"Even now, he's just sitting there, taking it. Won't get up to defend himself. Hell, he's probably too stupid to understand what I'm saying to him."

"Alistair, please--"

"Please? That's the problem, isn't it?? All those pleases and thank yous, getting in his head and making him weak. You're killing our boy!"

This time, he punctuates with violence. He snatches a phone from its place hooked onto the wall and throws it, striking her in the thigh. She threatens to call the police. He dares her to go through with it. She moves toward the discarded landline phone, and he declares that he's going to the bar. He won't be home later.

And sometimes, as it loops, Fitz tries to change it. The small figure stands up sometimes, and tries to defend itself. Sometimes he'll push his mother away from the thrown objects. He'll try disputing the accusations, and try agreeing with them. He'll try rejecting his mother and settling with his father instead. Nothing makes him stay.

So eventually, an adult Fitz leaves instead, locking the door to his room behind him.]

Fitz?

[Daisy spotted him when she came back down the hall with the key to her room that she had just created in one of the closets. She had been in a panic this morning that she hadn't had time to check in on anyone. He looked visibly shaken, unsurprisingly, and it looked like had the same idea as her. To lock the door to his room.

Fidgeting with the key as she stepped closer, Daisy pretended she didn't hear the shouting coming from his room.]

You want to talk about it?

[ that's kind of her. But he isn't deaf. He knows how impossible it is to mute noise like that, how it would always reach him even if he wasn't present in a room. Why should this be any different?

He smiles to greet Daisy, though the expression is thin. ]

Not particularly, no. But I appreciate the offer nonetheless.

[Daisy totally understood that, which is why she doesn't press and instead moves past him to lock her door before looking back to him.]

Were you heading anywhere in particular?

Somewhere that isn't here would be nice.

[He appreciates how much she's helping him sweep this issue under the rug. She's a good friend.]

Probably the lab, though Jemma's been a bit cross with me lately. It might be best to give her the space for a bit.

[Daisy did a lot better when the focus wasn't on her, and out of genuine concern about what happened between the two of them that caused her to be pissed at him...]

Why? What happened?

[She's starting down the hall to make their way to the lab. Which wasn't a place she went to very often, but she at least knew where it was.]
