Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. ( even halfway drunk, roaming the halls of the mansion's unending noise and staying far from his own, klaus' mind still whirs and works. outside a room, he slows to a stop and listens. that voice. the voice of one the men behind that door. he knows it. steve. steve rogers.

he has the fortunate ability to hear what unfolds as if he were standing in the middle of the scene. he hears enough to know that the man he knew wasn't as upstanding and noble as a few might lead him to believe.

we all have secrets. skeletons in the closet. it hardly moves him.

he hears the breath of someone else. it's the reason he reaches out and pulls the door open.

klaus' expression is bland, dispassionate, even after he spots tony in the corner. his thoughts are quite the same as he steps a few steps inside. he glances at the scene starting again, and then offers tony his half-empty bottle of whiskey. ) Seems you need this more than I, at the moment.

[ usually, there'd be a witty comment, there's be a shoving of the bottle and a set of projects to busy himself with. but this is the 18th time tony sees the light leaves his mother's eyes and tony is feeling more tired than ever.

it's the only reason he reaches for the bottle and after a moment - ]

we aren't heartbroken fourteen year olds.

[ he gets up, he gets two glasses. even now, tony stark has standards. ]

( klaus lifts his brow: he appreciates such dedication to standards. (he's content to do without, personally.) more accurately, he appreciates the man's determination to pull himself up in the face of such terrors and betrayals and get on his feet. so he's silent as tony retrieves the glasses, only following a few steps as he does. ) Once, perhaps, ( he replies, ) or never. ( in his experience broken-hearted children are so rarely afforded to permission to be so. he has a feeling tony wasn't or didn't. ) I'm Klaus.

[ a woman's voice answers, from somewhere else in the room. there's no one else present, not physically, but there is a woman saying, nothing so far, boss, I'm running scans. ]

[ he pours the whiskey into one glass and then into the other. ]

It's easy enough to think of it all as a hologram but that's a bit too easy, isn't it? can't have that.

( never say a thousand-year-old immortal can never be intrigued nor surprised, for klaus does in fact start just some at the disembodied voice. the tony stark before had been scientifically minded. even if he hadn't, klaus would let the reveal pass him by.

klaus takes his glass. ) Well, I've always been more accustomed to magic. That is what this place purportedly runs on, but I suppose science has been applicable. ( leopold certainly applied it, for instance. )

Some say they can work together. It's a theory.

[ one that tony isn't entirely willing to deny. once, he was more inclined to but after working for so many years alongside thor, he's beginning to accept the existence of other powers; not beyond science but just near it, at a level of inspections men have yet to achieve. ]

Magic. I'll bite. This place runs on magic of - what kind?

There are as many kinds of magics as there are worlds in which to perform them. ( klaus speaks with authority on the subject: not because he is personally well-versed, but because he lives in such a world. he was born of magic and his sister is quite adept at commanding it herself. ) And more. My sister assures me this kind is very powerful indeed. She suspects it's taken on a life of its own. It's one of the theories, anyway.
