It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!

Have fun!

Let's say neither, and just pretend it didn't happen.

[If he'd never known the guy's name, or maybe got to know him a little beforehand, he might not have immediately connected him to his own world's version of the Adversary. The fact that this guy is fairly amicable, seems to think he's amusing and hasn't yet done anything to threaten his existence is still taking a while to settle in.

It isn't that he's afraid of the guy, exactly, but being suddenly confronted with his presence is still enough to make him startle.

He takes a quick sip of his drink and waves one hand in a small, vague gesture.
]

Or, if you like, you can take the flattery and I'll take the irritation. It isn't as if I want to almost discorporate myself every time I run into you.

[... That last bit came out aloud instead of in his head. Ah.]

Well, that's just boring.

[He's been very into figuring out the names of all these various emotions he seems to cycle through these days. Sussing them out and getting a proper handle on them is entertaining, among other things.]

Very well. That strikes me as a good compromise.

[His eyebrows lift at that. Interesting~]

You mean like a bloody ghost or something? Why wouldn't you want to do that? That sounds like quite a talent. Think of all the secretive and forbidden places you could go, the things you could see.

[Lucifer, no.]

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-11-09 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, someone bless it.

Crowley gives Lucifer an odd look, then makes a small gesture at himself - the current form he's in, anyway.
]

Do you think I look like this when I visit the family? How exactly does it work for you?

[He's going to need a drink for this one. How do you go about explaining your being to someone you thought would understand it, but apparently operates on entirely different principles?

The demon takes a deep swallow from his glass.
]

Look, someone could kill me in this body, but I wouldn't die. The body would, and I'd be stuck floating around or possessing someone until I could acquire a new one. It's very inconvenient and I'd prefer not to do it.
walkingheroin: (lucifer014)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-11-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I certainly do.

[So there's that.

He tilts his head with interest, taking a swig out of the bottle of liquor he has with him. At least this is something of a distraction from the more annoying things going on inside the mansion during this event, even if it won't last.]

Ah, see, if I were to die, I'd go back to Hell. Well, if this weren't Wonderland and the rules of death were a little janky, anyway. Whereas if my lovely little demon, Maze, were to die, she'd simply cease to exist. [He frowns.] Oh, I do wish she were here.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (004)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-11-14 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Interesting. Not that the rules of death matter much here, but... yes, very interesting. He lifts his brows up slightly.]

You want another demon here?

[Pardon his surprise. At least it's genuine.]

Ugh, if Hastur or Ligur ever show up, I can kiss my corporeal form goodbye until someone can trap them somewhere.
walkingheroin: (lucifer006)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-11-22 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Just the one, actually. She's special.

[All the other demons can quite kindly stay right where they are, thank you.]

Well, if that ever does occur, I'm sure there are plenty here who would be willing to attempt to do that very thing. So many of them are willing to jump in to assist anyone they can no matter how dire.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (041)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-11-24 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Both eyebrows go up slightly. Special, huh?

Anything that might have come out in comment to that is thankfully shoved back down by his abrupt reaction to the next thing that Lucifer says.
]

I know. It's nauseating.

[His back teeth grit together for a moment, but he plays it off and takes another sip of his drink. What comes out after that isn't exactly what he means to say, either, but that doesn't mean it's not true.]

You'd probably be the only one who'd actually have a chance.
walkingheroin: (ha7)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-11-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
On the contrary, I'm afraid. That may have been the case before the Detective arrived, but it's now a thing of the past.

[This is not something he wants to talk about, let alone spill out of nowhere. It tends to be one of those things that he entirely omits from all conversation.]

Unfortunately, I'm quite mortal these days, so long as we're in the same vicinity.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (056)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-11-26 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Crowley stares, very openly. It's hard to identify staring from someone who never blinks anyway, but it's something about the way his pupils visibly dilate as he receives that little fact.]

Really.

[Not that he thinks you're lying, boss, but that's...

Really.
]

... Interesting.
walkingheroin: (oraclegreen3)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-11-27 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it just?

[He actually does think it's quite interesting, among other things. Like frustrating, frightening, confusing, and a myriad of others.]

It was quite the rush until a werewolf nearly bit my head off. That wasn't particularly fun, if I'm being quite honest.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (034)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-11-27 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I could see how that might put a dampener on things.

[This day just gets more and more interesting. Annoying, but interesting.]

Never experienced mortality, myself. Hitting the ground after the Fall felt close, but-- [A shrug, and a distasteful expression.] I'm fine with that being the closest I get.
walkingheroin: (ha4)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-12-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not entirely sure I'm not still immortal, just not quite so invincible, as the case may be. Regardless, that bit doesn't particularly matter here, considering even your regular human is incapable of aging in Wonderland.

[Still, being vulnerable to Wonderland's tricks wasn't high on his list of things he enjoyed.]

I don't blame you, though I wouldn't count on that, if I were you. Just wait til Wonderland rewrites all of your memories for one of its event while making you human in the process. You don't even realize anything is amiss until it's over!
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (009)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-12-04 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shrug.]

Been there, done that. The experience of being human is never one that I want to repeat, but it keeps being forced on me. Like a bad Christmas sweater.

[He really, really hates the things that this place can do to them.]

Lost a hand, once.
walkingheroin: (anangrym0)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-12-11 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly certain a bad Christmas sweater is the only thing worse.

[Fashion is very important, okay?]

A hand? Because of Wonderland?
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (059)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-12-12 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Zombies, specifically. [He brings his hand up - presumably the one he lost - and wriggles his fingers.]

More specifically, the girl I asked to cut it off before I turned into one of the bloody shamblers.

[Crowley sighs a little, then, following up with blurting out--]

I shouldn't have asked her to do it.
walkingheroin: (anangrym3)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-12-17 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes. I remember that event quite vividly.

[His expression goes remarkably sour. That's the event where he had to hold Chloe as their mutual friend shot her in the head after she'd been bit.

None of them recovered well from that one.]

At least she didn't cut off your head, instead.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (041)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-12-17 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Snort.]

She wouldn't have done that. I doubt she would kill a fly without feeling guilty about it.

[Oh, Lizzy. So innocent and so pure. Why do you hang around with someone like Crowley so readily? He huffs out an amused sound through his nose and shakes his head.]

She's a... Good person.
walkingheroin: (anangrym0)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-12-23 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Now there's an unusual occurrence.

[After all, flies were disgusting creatures. Humans tended to kill them without thinking the wiser. He didn't blame them, really.]

A bit of a rare commodity. Surely there's something less than pure about her.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (008)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-12-25 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[His shoulders lift in a small, almost bitter-looking shrug.]

Not that I can see, and I'd be able to see it.

[He doesn't know how things work for this guy - but he can see Lucifer's deeds written all over him, too. Not in words, but more like something of an aura, if he tries to see it.

If he'd seen him in person on their first communication, he wouldn't have even needed to ask who he was.
]

She's good, Lucifer. You should take a look at her, yourself.

[Well, now. That might just be the first time he used the other man's name.]
walkingheroin: (anangrym)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2017-12-27 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Really, now? Interesting.

[He could draw out her desires and all that, but if what he's saying is true, said desires would be entirely pure in nature.

It also meant they'd likely be boring.]

I'm intrigued. What's her name?
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (056)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2017-12-28 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Elizabeth.

[He's surprised by how much he actually doesn't want to say that out loud, but it slips through his lips anyway. The brief downturn of his lips is covered amply by taking another sip of his drink.]

And when I say look, I mean it.

[Crowley flicks his eyes over to Lucifer, the yellow and slitted pupils clearly visible over his sunglasses.]

She's a friend.
walkingheroin: (consultthemuses11)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2018-01-03 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you mean a friend, or a friend?

[He lifts his eyebrows in return, the innuendo in his voice making the question clear.

Either way, his expression softens.]

Regardless, I'm not sure what you think my intentions are, but I wouldn't harm her. I would hope you wouldn't think that in the first place, but I thought it better to make that clear.
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (034)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2018-01-03 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
A friend. I don't have many.

[Said without melancholy, as a simple fact that would not have normally come out of his mouth. Demons don't make friends easily, for a variety of reasons.

Crowley looks Lucifer up and down once, then sips his drink again.
]

... No... You really wouldn't, would you.
walkingheroin: (springdash1)

[personal profile] walkingheroin 2018-01-05 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't either. Perhaps you'll find more. This place seems to be rather good at that.

[Lucifer looks over at him then down into his glass.]

I wouldn't have even the slightest inclination, no.

[Normally he would make some sort of innuendo joke about how he would 'if she asked him to,' but even that doesn't come now.

Because he wouldn't. Not anymore.]
saunteredvaguelydownwards: (056)

[personal profile] saunteredvaguelydownwards 2018-01-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Good to know.

[And Crowley frowns at himself, because when did he become so protective of a blessed human? Humans aren't there to be protected by demons - that's an angel's job, not they're all that good at it these days.

Humans are just too good at finding new ways to hurt themselves, the Riders are always Riding, and the Apocalypse is always coming. More's the pity.
]

Shall we move on? This is starting to get uncomfortable.
