Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. [She shouldn't find this as funny as she does. Maybe she's just tired enough to be grateful for anything that breaks the tension.]

[He trails off, not having much of an end to that thought.]

[Somehow it's less amusing when he puts it that way, though. Natasha's smile fades to a slight, wry shadow.]

[He busies himself with food, sheepish.]

The rest of them have betrayed me. I suppose it's my fault for letting them come close in the first place.

That seems... ironic, really. [Most people would expect Natasha to be the first one to turn on them. Fewer of the people close to her, but even then...]

Most of the people you're talking about, they're pretty reliable guys.

One supposes they turn out better in more largescale emergencies. The needs of the many over the few, perhaps.

Not particularly. I don't come off particularly heroic in an accurate telling of it. [Which is why he's exaggerated parts every time he's discussed it.]

Perhaps it will be enough to say that I died once, during a time when I'd thought the Avengers would catch wind and prevent it from happening. I've since learned my lesson.

I'm sorry to hear that. [Which is the truth, obviously. But she doesn't stop there.] Sometimes, we can't save everyone. We just... do as much as we can.

I'm sure they'd have been there for you if they could.

They could have. I just... wasn't important enough at the time.

I'd always thought it would be something that mattered, like when the Director died for you all. But it was all fairly meaningless. And I've not said that out loud before. You must think terribly of me.

[That comment complicates her response though.]

What do you mean when the director died for us?

[He shifts. He'd been hoping she wouldn't ask him to clarify about this particular part.]

I'm discussing Director Coulson.

[And he should never discuss Director Coulson by name.]

Coulson never made director.

[Not before he died. Not before Natasha stopped being affiliated with SHIELD.]

It's classified, Ma'am.

[ it's his plea to get her to stop asking things he shouldn't be telling her. ]

I don't doubt that it is.

[Which isn't another question and doesn't press, but it's not exactly changing the subject either.]

[And he tries to leave it at that. It doesn't work.]

It would cause much too big of a stir if anyone knew he's alive, let alone that he's taken over after Director Fury passed.

[And then he'll just bury his face in his hands.]

You must be getting quite a lot out of this event.

Maybe less of a stir than you'd imagine.

[Though it does sting that apparently her security clearance wasn't high enough for that.

On the other hand.]

Fury didn't pass. He faked his death after he was shot, so there wouldn't be further attempts.

[They hadn't trusted her with that information either, at least not at first.

Clearly the Black Widow isn't an agent you trust to keep a secret. That pattern stings, even with time to soften it.]

The terms of his return are a bit unsavory. If he hasn't reached out, one might imagine he has his reasons for that.

[Coulson worked directly with the Avengers. They'd know if he wanted them to know.]

That's a relief about Director Fury, though. There's been far too much killing.

I'm sure he does. Probably he's very busy being the secret director of an intelligence agency that wasn't supposed to still exist.

[At least for a while there. Probably hard to reach out when neither you nor your job are on the books.]
