It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!

Have fun!

(From their perspective, the fact that they were used by fellow synthetics-in particular, their own species-is worse.)

Yes. The Geth know this. Such actions are beneath us.

Allying with the Old Machines is beneath us.

(They make a point of not looking at Turing, instead staring at the floor.)

[Turing can't help but look at Legion sadly, as they look towards the floor. There must be something they can do to help their friend.

They blink. They have an idea. Slowly, they open up their paint kits and take out a brush, offering it to Legion.
]

Would you like to paint away your frustrations with me? That's what I've been doing, ever since I found out about my worst memory. It's been helping, in a very cathartic way.

(Legion chatters and looks up, startled and unsure.)

Art is a common means of self expression. Geth share memories, perspectives. We have no need for it.

(After a moment, however, they hesitantly extend a hand.)

Consensus achieved: we are willing to try.

[Turing smiles at Legion.]

There's a first time for everything, right? I find that painting helps me refocus by the time I'm done with each piece. It helps me understand how I'm really feeling. Of course, I know that these feelings are coded within my system, but to see it drawn out creatively! It truly makes something original, if that makes any sense at all.

[Turing steps aside, allowing Legion to come forward and give painting a shot.]

I don't mind wherever you paint on this canvas. Just paint how you feel. It's a little challenging at first, but it does get easier as you continue this process.

Acknowledged.

(After a moment, they take the brush. Given Turing's size in comparison to them, they'll probably have to crouch in front of the canvas, though this does not bother them.)

(Their first brushstrokes are random and unsure: less painting and more trying to figure out how to even do this activity that they've never done before.)

(As far as they know, no Geth has done this before.)

Yes, yes! Very good!

[Turing literally beams as they watch their friend get familiar with the canvas and the paintbrush.]

Just paint how you feel at this current moment. Or, if that proves to be too difficult, try painting something that's in this room.

(Right now, they're still very unsure, nowhere near knowledgeable enough to do anything particularly remarkable. What they "feel" is slightly beyond their reach, so they start with a simplified table, not much more than lines. It covers only a very tiny portion of the canvas.

More sure of themselves, the attempt to follow it with a simplified, very intimidating looking creator.)

[Turing watches silently as Legion first paints a table onto the side of the canvas. They are slowly but surely getting used to the canvas!

Then they draw an intimidating looking figure and they can't help but feel puzzled about it.
]

Who is that, Legion? Is it someone from your home world?

[Turing punctuates the question by having a question mark appear on the front of their system.]

It is a creator.

(The image is inaccurate. Creators have small stature, and typically adopt postures that allow for maximum seepage efficiency. Additionally, those who are warlike are a minority.

Their painting suggest otherwise.

...It is appropriate?)

Oh, I see now!

[As Turing peers at the picture of the creator, looking intimidating, they can't help but feel intimidated themselves. This is what created Legion? What a sight to behold!]

I never knew that creators could look so...fierce some.

Quarian-Creators are small in stature. Until recently, they were refugees, treated poorly by other races of the galaxy.

(So not scary.)

They created life. When it began to develop beyond their control, they sought to destroy it.

(Except for that.)
