Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. "Be my guest." Said with a shrug and a wry twist of the lips, lifting a hand to the seat across from her.

"If your friend doesn't mind." With a glance at the cat. She can always hope to lighten the mood a little. Keep them away from heavier topics. Maybe it's too much to hope for, but it's what she's got. And she doesn't hate cats.

He smiles slightly and nods, sliding into the seat. Only when she points it out does he notice the small, furry head poking out of his jacket and he lifts the creature out, prompting a meow.

"Ah... this is Delilah."

Nathaniel tries to keep the cat on his lap, though she makes a concentrated effort to get up onto the table.

"Named after my sister."

"Delilah, huh? Will she be offended if I pet her?" Natasha asks, reaching a hand across the table for the cat to sniff. All things considered, Delilah seems like about the safest possible conversation topic that Natasha can imagine.

"Hopefully your sister wouldn't be sore about her namesake."

"I shouldn't think so."

Nathaniel relents, letting go of the cat and watching as she instantly hops up onto the table to take the offered petting. Nope, she isn't offended at all.

He smiles slightly, shaking his head.

"And... no, I don't think she would. She'd be surprised by the sentimentality."

The cat will receive some very sweet, lowkey ear scratching for her patience, Natasha smiling very slightly as she looks at it. It's not her fault that is a particularly cute cat.

"Is it sentimentality for you to name her after your sister?" Smiling just a little as she speaks, Natasha keeps her eyes on her company. "Guess it depends on how she feels about cats. Younger sister?"

She is a particularly cute cat, with the added value of Nathaniel of being a reminder of an old friend. The cat purrs noisily under Natasha's petting hand, nudging her head against the woman's fingers.

"Most people wouldn't call me the sentimental type," the rogue replies candidly, and then nods. "Younger sister. I'm the eldest of three. Myself, Delilah, and our brother Thomas."

Natasha scratches the cat's cheek gamely, giving a slight smile. Listening to his answer, it's hard to say for sure if his honesty is the result of this latest event or if it's the sort of thing he might have said anyway.

"Maybe you don't normally show it off?" Amused, not trying to press but continuing the conversation. "Never had any siblings to say how normal that is."

It's a little of both. He might have said it, though he may not have chosen to say it to someone he knew so little. Either way, he doesn't seem to be too troubled that he said it.

"I don't," he admits after a moment of thought. "I think it leads people to believe I'm being insincere when I do."

People like Velanna.

"Maybe. Though some people would say it's a good reason to believe you're sincere when you do say something." Natasha shrugs, giving him a sideways glance. "Depending on the context."

"Some people might. I've not given many the chance to get to know me very well."

It's clear he didn't intend to say that in the expression on his face after the words come out. He looks away from her and frowns, shaking his head slightly.

"You don't have to follow up on that if you don't want to. I know how things are going now, these things just... coming out."

Natasha keeps her eyes on the cat as she says it.

The problem is, he really does have to follow up on it whether he wants to or not. That's the way it's going, isn't it? As it is, though, he doesn't mind. Natasha isn't poor company at all.

"It's alright." He reaches out to run his hand down the cat's back. She chirps, flicking her tail. "It's unusual, but not uncomfortable."

"It gets uncomfortable sometimes. But... I think most of us are doing our best not to pry. Even if sometimes the questions come out." And they do, whether or not they prefer it. Still. "Hopefully it stays not uncomfortable. I've already said a few things I'd rather not have today."

"I dare say I have as well," Nathaniel replies with a small grimace. His conversation with Robyn could have been far worse if they didn't have the kind of friendship that they did.

"Wonderland hasn't been showing any mercy of late."

"Does it ever? Must have been before I showed up." Not that it couldn't be worse, but it could always be worse. Natasha particularly hates this one. Not just because of the honesty. "What does going easy on us look like?"

"There was the time we spent several days in a-- a very elaborate construction, in space." He stumbles slightly over the concept. Even now, it's still difficult to grasp.

"In that time, nothing was trying to kill us, or hurt us or manipulate our minds. It was... very pleasant, when I got used to feeling I was about to fall off the ground."

"That would be a nice change of pace." Sounds like a vacation, really. "Get a change of scenery and no monsters."

"It was... eye-opening," Nathaniel tells her with a soft laugh. On the table between them, the small cat becomes more insistent on her seeking of attention from Natasha, all but climbing into her lap.

"I never thought I'd see anything like that. I didn't know it was possible."

"A lot of places, it's not," Natasha says, smiling as she turns her attention to the cat, petting it willingly. If it needs a hand, she isn't doing anything more important with hers.

"My world included, until very recently."

"Even the bar that Wonderland sets is often beyond my immediate understanding." Delilah is a bold little animal, and Nathaniel has to smile slightly at her antics. She definitely knows how to get what she wants... much like his sister.

"The... communication devices, for instance."

"Not exactly what you're used to, huh?" Natasha smiles at that. She can imagine that. But then, it's not exactly what she's used to either. "You know, they seem a little like some of the stuff we have back home, but when you start using them, open them up... they don't work like the real things either. Pretty sure they're unique."

"In my world, if you want to speak to somebody, you write a letter," he tells her with an amused expression that isn't quite a smile. "Unless you have access to advanced forms of magic, which many do not."

For him, the devices here might well be magic for all he understands about how they work. Learning to type had been an interesting experience, and he still isn't that good at it.

"You know, it's only been a hundred years, hundred and fifty years since that was true where I'm from. And even then, it's only been recently that we could do things like this. A lot of things these comms can do, we couldn't do when I was younger." She shrugs. "Used to be you got voice, and you had to stay in one place to do it."
