Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!

[Which is exactly what she goes for today. Putting on her protective eye wear, Daisy was reaching for a pair of earmuffs when she figured she should introduce herself.]

[Daisy smiled when he said it was nice to meet her. Was it though? Considering the circumstances they were in.

And as she was making sure everything was set up:]

Did your sister teach you how to use that gun?

[Oh, right. He had said the gun was George's.]

Nah. Our mom did, when we were kids. Maybe seven or so? [He pauses.] Well, not this gun, but a gun.

[Daisy positioned herself correctly before firing off a shot. It went right through the middle of the paper targets head, which wasn't surprising considering her training. Not that he knew about that.]

No. We're from one of the zombie worlds. Better teach your kids how to hold a gun than let them become zombie chow, right? Most of our world is safe enough that people don't need guns all the time, but our parents are bloggers. We spent a lot of time in places that weren't safe.

[Lowering her gun, Daisy looked over to Shaun with a slightly sad expression. She's only had to deal with zombies here and that was more than enough. To live like that? It sounded like hell.

Bloggers?]

...You guys have working internet back home?

[She just assumed the whole zombie thing was like the movies, where there was no working anything. Or eventually, what was left ran out.]

[He shrugs.] Yeah. And power and government and infrastructure. We're from the zombie world that recovered. They're around, they're a problem, and they have been my whole life, but they're mostly just background noise.

But it wasn't always like that? Did they take over the world for a while?

[There's just some things Daisy still isn't used to hearing about where others come from. Even if in her world she had to deal with aliens and the like.]

[He shrugs again.] The outbreak started in 2014, and we lost sixty percent or more of the population. It was a few years before they really started getting things back until control. My parents little enclave of survivors wasn't rescued until late in 2017, but by then it was pretty clear we were going to win, even if we had sustained a lot of casualties.

Outbreak of what? Some sort of infection?

[She can really only go off of what she's seen in movies here.]

[It's okay. He doesn't mind giving the Cliff's Notes.]

Kellis-Amberlee. It's the virus that causes the dead to get up and start walking around with a healthy appetite in my world. We're all infected with it, and it keeps us from getting cancer and the common cold, but the side effect is that when we die we turn into zombies. And contact with our blood can turn people into zombies. And also sometimes zombies just fucking happen and no one knows why.

Wait. So, even if people from where you're from are still alive, they can turn into a zombie if they come in contact with a person's blood?

[adaptiveimmunities]

[He nods.] Yeah. [Shaun's apparently the exception to that rule, but no one's figured out yet how that works.] There's a lot of blood testing in our world to make sure you haven't accidentally come in contact with live virus or randomly started to amplify. We're used to living with the way things are, but that doesn't mean they're back to what you--or other pre-Rising people--would call normal.

I guess there's downsides to where every one comes from.

[And, just because she was curious.]

That virus couldn't be spread here, could it?

Probably not? If it did then no one here would be getting any colds, and every time someone died they'd turn into a zombie. As far as I can tell, that's only happening to the people from my world.

[He glances over.]

So where'd you learn how to shoot?

Right.

[All of that sounded like a lot to deal with, but to him it seemed to be an every day thing. Maybe it only sounded overwhelming to her because she didn't grow up in it like he had.]

My job taught me to. Didn't exactly take it seriously at first.

[In his experience, lots of people don't take stuff like that seriously until suddenly they have to. Either to get a field license or because suddenly the government is trying to kill you.]

What changed?

I almost died in the field.

[And she has the gunshot wounds to prove it.]

Good enough reason to take it more seriously, right?

...Yeah, that would definitely do it. [He gives her a wry grin.] That kind of thing tends to bring things home more than all the lectures in the world could.
