It may very well be the worst thing that's ever happened to you! | OPEN MINGLE

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: EVERYWHERE!
When: Friday October 27th - Tuesday October 31st
Rating: PG-13, warn if you're gonna go higher!
Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. And here's the plot post if you need it!

Have fun!

Ah... I would think that it would be obvious! After all, we are currently being tormented by our worst memories! But you have a special weapon that can counter it...

<small<>[Ishimaru points dramatically at Fiddleford.]

You have that forget beam of yours! With it, we can all forget our worst memories! My plan is as simple as that! [And as desperate.]

Forget--oh, you mean the memory gun.

[A pause, and then--]

And don't talk about it so loudly, someone might overhear--I mean, it's fine that you know about it, but there are some people that are not particularly fond of this invention of mine.

[Namely, Stanford Pines, who will absolutely kick our ass when he finds out about it being around here somewhere.]

SORRY I SOMEHOW LOST THIS

[Ishimaru nods affirmatively at the mention of the memory gun.]

That is correct! Ah... But why would someone dislike an invention like that? It is very useful for helping to cure us of painful memories! I want to believe that we will all be better off without them! [The "want to" slipped into Ishimaru's sentence without him intending it to.]
mcgucket: (fuckin nerd sits alone)

[personal profile] mcgucket 2017-11-22 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
And I wholly agree with ya on that. But... I've had someone tell me before that they think it's wrong to erase memories, even the bad ones.
moraloutrage: (huh)

[personal profile] moraloutrage 2017-11-23 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... That is quite unfortunate. I understand the value in one's memories and do not think that they should be treated frivolously, but surely there is value in getting rid of the most horrible memories! It is saddening that this person cannot see that much!
mcgucket: (looks meaningfully away)

[personal profile] mcgucket 2017-11-26 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I wanna believe that maybe someday I can get him to come around and see things my way, or at the very least understand how it benefits other people even if he doesn't want to use that method himself, but he can be very stubborn sometimes, so I'm not sure if it really can happen or not.
moraloutrage: (talk to the hand)

[personal profile] moraloutrage 2017-11-26 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Mm! That sounds quite unfortunate. But you should not give up! I am sure that one day, he will come around! Anything is possible through hard work. ...Th-that is what I want to believe above all else!
mcgucket: (LEANS AWAY POINTEDLY)

[personal profile] mcgucket 2017-11-27 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
... How can you be so optimistic in the face of such things? Does anyone ever call you naive for thinkin' that way?

[He's not accusing exactly, mostly curious here.]
moraloutrage: (if I must)

[personal profile] moraloutrage 2017-11-28 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! [He nods.] Many people do! They do not understand that I have doubts as well. But that is not enough to make me give up! My heart is set on the belief that through hard work, anything can change for the better. So I set to live my life according to that doctrine! I won't let some doubts and the words of others stop me from doing my best!
mcgucket: (the eyebrow game is strong in this one)

[Huh]

I can't say I always feel the same, but I gotta admit that's pretty noble of ya to look at it that way.
moraloutrage: (declaring)

I understand that many do not share this perspective. Which can be frustrating! But... Thank you! I try my best, Fiddleford-san!
