Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. He never said anything about it. [ why would he? except -- except peggy had never anticipated these changes that had come across steve rogers. how could she have? peggy gives her head a shake. ]

Although, to be fair, he never said much of anything. We didn't do much talking while he was here.

[ ugh. her snarl intensifies as she admits it. ]

[Natasha's sour face as she sips her coffee has nothing to do with the taste.]

I'm not actually trying to push my way into your relationship with him.

[Whatever shape that may have taken here. Its fairly clear that the two of them hadn't found the best footing when they were reunited.]

[ which isn't exactly what natasha meant, of course, but peggy finds herself speaking from the gut again. that same old twitch presents in her jaw. impatience and frustration. ]

And then there's the fact that he's not here to do that.]

Our current predicament doesn't much care for trying. One way or the other. [ true enough. ] But I suppose you can adequately believe me when I say I won't be holding any of this against you. Much as I might want to.

[ ugh. ]

[ oh! look! this she can do. peggy stews a moment before something potentially dangerous (but not at all under first blush) tumbles out of her mouth. ]

...Have you bothered sprucing up your room yet? Or has the mansion managed to do it for you? I take it somehow reacts to what we might want our quarters to look like and we can sort of wish it into shape.

[ she's avoided doing so. somehow. ]

I'd like to agree with you. [ in fact, she ultimately does agree. ] Only Stark's been foisting furniture on me since the day he arrived.

[ a calm comes over her voice. peggy remains jittery, yes, over the revelation from moments earlier. of the longevity of her life, and steve's place in it -- worse yet, she has to wonder about whether those circumstances had anything to do with his rejection here.

but instead of talking about it, instead of asking about it, she's calmly griping about tony stark's decorating skills. ]

He brought a vase, once. And installed a behemoth of a desk I didn't need.

[ these complaints offer her shelter. ]

Tony must like you. [Natasha does her best not to look too closely at Peggy then. It's obvious that the news hit Peggy hard and Natasha would rather not see it.] Hopefully it's not too irritating.

He's got a funny way of showing it.

[ her thin cover of discretion is, of course, appreciated. news like that of her own death (although the fact of it doesn't surprise half so much as the details) will take considerably longer to digest than just this conversation. days, maybe. and a bit of solitude as well. ]

But then again, so did his father.

[ -- speaking of deaths that will need time to digest. christ, she can still remember what she'd witnessed in tony's room. ]

I can't speak to his father, but in Tony's case... you know, he's not exactly good at people.

[Neither are most of them, though some of them fake it better.]

Especially not when he's trying to be nice.

Yes. I've picked up on that. [ a beat before she admits: ] Which is why, I suppose, I've been letting him get away with it.

I suppose someone has to.

[Tony is a mess. A mess Natasha can handle, and on some level doesn't mind handling even if their friendship has never been as straightforward as some of Natasha's others.]

Glad to see you're putting up with him. He could use some people in his life who are less complicated. And at this point, weird as it is, you are.

He finds me familiar. [ that much has been made abundantly obvious. ] Although that familiarity isn't much mutual.

Does he know you? [Natasha frowns. If they know one another, Natasha hasn't heard of that. As far as she knows, Howard kept his SHIELD life hidden from his son. But it's certainly not impossible.]

...He says I'm family. [ sharp and regretful, but not for the content. ] Something you'll understand I wish I didn't have to reveal. It's not my sentiment to hand out, but his to keep to himself.

Well. Normally, I can keep a secret. I don't have any plans of bringing that up with Tony.

[Though it does still reveal things Tony might not have wanted to reveal himself.]

Much obliged. For as far as you can manage it. [ ... ] I'll admit it's not a terrible prospect. And it's not as though he would be the first person to claim me as such since I'd arrived here. Although the first is an actual blood relative.

[And managed to spend most of their time together pretending they didn't know each other. But that's how things go sometimes.]

Sharon. Yes. [ a small nod. ] Possibly one of the bigger plot twists since I'd arrived.

Finding out your niece and your ex were flirting? Badly. [The speculation falls out of her mouth before she can stop it. Natasha's lips tighten but she doesn't quite wince.

There's no such thing as a safe topic.] Or just the fact you had a niece.

[ she does go a bit bug-eyed. as if learning about her death (and the when of it) isn't tricky enough, this bombshell lands in her lap. and it's just as well, really, because it's so much easier to circle back around do being frustrated by steve rogers than feeling sorry for him.

Steve's not my ex. [ and maybe it hurts her (just a little) how very true that assertion is. they were never anything but a possibility before he was yanked away from her. ] His personal life is none of my business -- something I told him not long after he informed me of his involvement with Barnes.
