Summary: A catch all for the Horrible Memory Truth Event!
The Story:

For the duration of this event, everyone's entire room will be replaced with a memory playing on loop. They will likely recognize the moment as soon as they see it – it is a moment they remember as the worst moment of their entire lives. It could be a memory from home or something that happened in Wonderland. Lengths of the memories will vary, but they will find that these are not memories they can merely watch – they can step into these memories and attempt to make changes to them, and the memories will be long enough that they have time to make changes (though no more than 24 hours). However, anyone who tries will find that it is futile. No matter what you do or how hard you try, the outcome is always exactly the same somehow. No changes you make will prevent that horrible outcome. It just happens over and over and over again no matter what you do.

On top of that, perhaps complicating any attempts to make changes, everyone will be forced to be honest for the duration of the event. No lies or half-truths are allowed, and filters will be gone for the entire five days. If something bothers someone then they will blurt it out, regardless of whether or not it hurts someone's feelings, and no one will be able to simply keep quiet when they have something to say. They must be truthful and honest with every word they say.

This is a catch-all log for all of your Worst Memory needs! Please mark your threads clearly in the subject line with your character's name and Room Number + Floor for character rooms, or just location if you're making a top level for a public place in the mansion (like the tea rooms or the kitchen) so people can see if there's already a thread available. i used to think the core was like the one back home. but the more i think about it, the more it almost seems like...a soul. it's a bright light, it's hidden...it holds memories...

[She looks towards Sans, quizzical.]

You think... it might be Wonderland's SOUL? If that's where we all end up when we die, and it's made up of SOUL power...

[He blinks at her.]

what? uh...is it? i haven't had much confidence in my intelligence in over a decade. sorry, wonderland made me say that.

Well yeah!!!

[She excitedly grabs at Sans' hands, already working through the theory.]

It expends and generates energy via SOUL power, it keeps the Mansion running, it changes and grows based on influence-- it makes p-perfect sense! Sans!!!

[And because Wonderland means she can't help herself, she just kinda grabs his head and kisses between his eyes on his forehead, and then blushes, dropping him instantly.]

I'm so sorry, I, uh-- g-got too excited. There. For a bit.

[He's a little startled when she grabs his hands, but not really in a bad way. There's that old, familiar, giddy "just solved the equation after months of staring at it" feeling.]

yeah, it...i guess it does make sense, huh? if you think of wonderland as alive, maybe even--

[Then she kisses him, and WELL, that's a bit more startling. He freezes for a split second, then just--]

[Starts laughing. It's a combination of surprised and amused.]

haha, oh man, of all the times that wonderland won't let me joke about something, hehehe. i think i've had people kiss me more often this year than every other year of my life combined.

[Shs laughs, more happy than nervous, but his words may have gotten him into more trouble than he thinks. Usually, she'd have the ability to keep shut about this, or at least act in a... tactful way.

But not now!]

Ohmygosh, was that Mettaton? I swear, I felt you t-two doing something a while back but I was too nervous to ask in case you were banging.

[She immediately, instantly, looks horrified.]

... I'm sorry, b-but I still really, really need to know if you kissed him.

[punful]

[He's still laughing but immediately stops when she says the name Mettaton. He cuts off with a sort of wheeze.]

alphys oh my god.

[WHY DID SHE HAVE TO PHRASE IT LIKE THAT. "Felt" you two doing something? BANGING?]

[He buries his face in his hands and boy is Alphys going to feel a flood of embarrassment along their connection.]

g-god, of course you felt it. jeez. no, we're not--banging.

[Ugh why.]

we're not--that, but we, yes, he--we--i like him a lot, al.

[FUCK.]

i can't remember the last time i've liked anyone--that way. god. i don't know what to do about it.

[sciencelizard]

[She shrieks a bit in excitement, clapping her hands and completely disregarding how Sans looks like he's three seconds from death.]

I was right! Omg! Metta was being s-super evasive and I meant to ask and sorry it was during this event but it worked out because I WAS SO RIGHT!!!

[... Oh, right, she should like. Ssssay something more than this.]

So you kissed? F-For real??

[... Maybe not that, but well. Thanks, truth event. That's what she really wanted to know right now.]

[Sans flops facedown into a pillow and makes an indiscernible sound for awhile. Then he goes quiet for a bit. Then he answers with something that sounds like a very muffled "yes."]

[Alphys outright squeals, dipping backwards over her tall into a somersault and ending up further into the beanbag pile. She sounds ecstatic. This is the same noise she makes when her otp kisses on screen. You're never escaping from this, Sans.]

OHMYGOSH SANS IM GONNA SCREAM FOREVER OHHHHH MY GOOOODDDD.

[If Sans looks up, he might only see her little lizard feet kicking back and forth in excitement.]

[He peeks upward in time to see her flop over into her beanbag. Oh god, why is she so happy about this?]

you're overreacting, it's not like it's gonna--it's very unlikely it'd ever work, i mean he's--i feel so stupid about it.

[She whips herself back up, shimmying on her stomach over to Sans and grabbing his hands in hers in earnest.]4

But you should! You t-totally should-- he at least has to know, you have to tell him. Love confessions are so important!!!

[He gives a half-hearted attempt to tug out of her grip.]

th-this isn't an anime though, al. it's not just gonna--work out just cause of...feelings or whatever. besides, i'm...i'm pretty sure he already knows.

[God he must be crimson at this point. He looks away, trying to shrink into his hoodie.]

the way we're connected, we can both feel it. but that doesn't mean... he's got his mirror influencing him, and he keeps talking about how celebrities can't have relationships, and i'd be so bad at any sort of relationship anyway, i'd, i'd screw it up eventually, and compared to him i'm nothing.

[He groans quietly, because that last part slipped out against his will. It's not like Alphys didn't know what a low opinion Sans has of himself, but still. Stupid Wonderland. Stupid event. Stupid crush.]

i'd...just drag him down. i'd just be more of a burden on him. and besides, it's--selfish, when he's still dealing with his mirror. i should just be...focusing on supporting him and getting him away from mirrorton, not...indulging some stupid feelings that don't matter.

[She holds his hands tight, but her eyes do get softer as he speaks, giving his hands a little reassuring squeeze when he puts himself down.]

Loving someone isn't s-selfish, Sans. Even if they're having trouble, it's-- it's not a burden. You're not a burden.

[And she believes this-- truly, even if it's not right or correct. It's one of the few things she feels very strongly about, in the depths of her soul.]

You can support someone with l-love. I know it's hard, and it's hard for the both of you, but-- even if you don't do anything with it, you should tell him. On your terms. If you don't... having feelings like that without saying it only drags you apart. You should be h-honest.

[He looks down at her hands holding his. She always holds on, doesn't she? Despite everything.]

[She says he's not a burden, and she can't lie right now. There are objective truths, and there are subjective ones. It's still astonishing to know with perfect confidence that he has worth to someone. He just still can't understand why. Can't understand why anyone would want him.]

maybe...not, but. it feels like it is.

[He feels selfish. He's never been shy about indulging himself and his own emotions, but it's completely different when someone else is involved. Papyrus, Alphys, Mettaton. He's just taking up their time, their energy. He thinks of the look on Mettaton's face back in summer, when Sans said that yeah, he was okay with the idea of being more than friends.]

[How Mettaton hadn't meant it that way at all. The physical part, sure, though that's just as baffling. Not the rest of it.]

honesty, honesty...

[He gives a tired sigh.]

it's all about honesty these days. it's been like...the theme of this past year. for me, at least.

[And he's been trying. He really has. He's been trying so damn hard.]

i-i'm sorry, i really...i didn't want to kill the mood. i, heh, i went and made it weird.

[sciencelizard]

[She laughs a bit, but it's not really a laugh of humor, just... something that fills the silence. A small lift of the shoulders. Alphys still hasn't let go of his hands, looking at him with sympathy in her eyes.]

Yeah, it's... it's hard not to lie. Trust me, I k-know. I've been trying to get better about it too. Sometimes it's really hard, especially when you feel like you're not... enough for the truth? I guess? Like the truth is some great sweeping thing and you're just you.

[She has no idea if that made any sense. Honesty is making things weird.]

I just b-believe in you, okay? And I believe that it'll make you feel better to tell him. Otherwise you'll just... sit, and wonder, and be sad about it.

yeah...

[She really does get it. The truth does feel like some great sweeping thing. Dark blue, Integrity, and he's never really had a drop of it.]

or, heh, when it feels like you've lied so much that you don't know what the truth even is anymore. or...when you try to start, and no one believes you, and you're not sure how to prove it to them. and--dealing with the fact that people don't have to believe you, that they might--never.

[That it's their decision. That to some people--to Frisk, to Toriel, maybe to Chara--he'll never be able to prove himself, because he's wasted all his chances. And that's entirely his fault.]

i mean...heh, well. if i run into him during this event it'll probably just...come out, yeah? won't have a choice.

[sciencelizard]

Heh, y-yeah.

[Oh jeez, that's right. This event. She grimaces a little, tapping her claws on her chin.]

Well, look, you don't have to run off and do it, uh, right now-- it's important you do it on your terms, like, uh, when you f-feel comfortable. Or at least when you decide you want to. Not when Wonderland forces you.

[The show's been running in the background, sort of forgotten, but Alphys gestures to it, and the room at large.]

Just... stay here for a while, okay? We can hang out for a while. And if Mettaton shows up you can just, uh, h-hide in the beanbags and I'll lead him off. Okay?

yeah. i...maybe i'll just try to...wait a bit. at least for the event to be over.

[He chuckles a little at the idea of hiding from Mettaton in the beanbags, getting some of his cheer back.]

heh, drop some chip crumbs on top to make it look authentic?

...thanks, though. you're, uh, you're really...a great friend.

[sciencelizard]

[She laughs just a bit, putting a hand on her snout as she giggles.]

Yeah, it'll be like g-giving you a little, uh, beanbag disguise suit. Maybe we could even make a pouch in one? That would be amazing.

[All in all, Alphys flops down on her stomach, and gives his hand a little pat.]

It's gonna be okay. Eventually. I think we can m-make it okay.

hee hee, that sounds amazing. maybe i'll go as a beanbag next halloween.

[He gives her hand a quick squeeze.]

yeah. i...i think you're right. maybe it will be.

[sciencelizard]

[She smiles, and settles in, digging through the beanbag pile and retrieving a half-eaten bag of hard candy, unwrapping it with a combination of her claws and teeth before popping it in her mouth. All in all, she doesn't let go of his hand.]

C'mon. Let's cut to the next episode. It's the one w-where Mew Mew accidentally kisses her reflection, and I know you think it's funny.

hell yeah. best mini-arc of the season.

[It'll be fine. Whatever happens with Mettaton, they'll still be friends. And he'll always have Alphys.]
