Who: Freya & Klaus Mikaelson
Where: The Gardens
When: Dec. 4th [FORWARD DATED]
Rating: PG-13 probably
Summary: Freya and Klaus return from their canon bumps, a day apart in terms of memories and Freya's got some bad news.
The Story:

[There's a blindingly bright light and Freya is thrown backwards into Klaus. Her concentration breaks in that moment, as she feels herself get lifted off her feet and thrown to the ground, knocking the wind from her chest. The only thing she can do, the only thought she has is to close her fingers around the pendant and hope that she doesn't lose it, hasn't lost Elijah in the process.

When she opens her eyes, however, everything is different. She's met with the smell of damp grass and a fresh breeze. She looks up at the blue sky, and things are familiar, to be sure. The memories come back in a solid rush as she remembers Wonderland again and panic rips through her as she forces herself to her feet. She glances around wildly for a moment, before an impotent kind of rage rips through her.]

No, no, no, no ... not yet.

[She shouts it uselessly into the sky, knowing that it will have no effect regardless, but she doesn't know what else to do. She just keeps her fingers clenched around the pendant, feeling the jagged pieces of the crystal pushing into her palm, but afraid to look and see the damage for herself.

If she does, she will have to begin to follow the steps that may lead her to believing that her brother was truly gone and she isn't ready to begin that conversation quite yet. Nor is she ready to consider the other nagging voice in her head whispering all too softly:

Vincent was right.

She doesn't notice her brother lying beside her until a moment later, and when she does, she drops to her knees and reaches for his shoulder gently.]

Klaus? Klaus.

( caroline. the name gives him pause; it reminds him of what he did leave behind. yet he hesitates, shifts on his feet; despite knowing he should, he does not want to leave. he hardly knows at all where he will go, if he even wants caroline to see him, if he wants to see her, for anyone to see...

he wants to see this done, but there is nothing left for him to do. he knows his presence is hardly helpful. he knows what she needs is space. it's a hard lesson they've demonstrated again and again: he does not help. the most efficient and effective way she gets this done is if he leaves.

with a breath he turns his eyes to the ground. he reaches only to grasp her arms in comfort and assurance, and then slips by her to leave into the common room.
