Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

[ Claire hasn't spoken to Evelyn since returning to Wonderland, and she's looking forward to seeing her now, approaching her. Her dress is an amazing callback to her wedding dress, and she smiles at Evelyn, reaching out to hug her and kiss her cheek. ]

It's so good to see you. And your fête is impeccable.

[Party to such traditions and wont to greet her closer guests with a polite kiss upon the cheek, Evelyn returns the favour and the embrace, only stepping back to properly take in Claire's gown. It is certainly accurate to her time - her other time - in the careful construction, the embroidery that reminds Evelyn of a dress she once saw tucked away in a chest in the garret space.]

You are a vision, good Lord. How on earth did you get into that without help?

Oh, I had help. Jamie. He's gotten quite good at lacing me into things.

[ Though he is better at taking her out of them. ANYWAY. ]

And thank you. I have to say, you look incredible this evening. I always enjoy an evening of being able to admire others.

[Evelyn can read the subtext there. Men with an intimate knowledge of a ladies' intimates can be excessively useful.]

Thank you, [she demurs, as the compliment is sincere. Evelyn moves to link an arm in Claire's before turning back to the rest of the room.] Jamie is your...husband, isn't he? I don't believe we've been introduced.

[ This feels so similar to being at court in Versaille, and Claire gladly links arms with Evelyn, smiling in the direction of her husband who seems to be caught up in conversation. ]

That he is. I'll be sure and introduce you before the night is over.

[ The look on her face does nothing to hide how smitten she is with him. ]
