Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

[It is extremely difficult to not look as though she is reveling in something akin to mischievous delight at Benjamin's carefully-veiled shock. No doubt he has had to deliver many a correspondence to his commanding officers that he knew would displease, and schools his expressions well.]

[Not to make his traditions stand out and suddenly having visceral reminders of her social debut, Evelyn executes a restrained curtsy as dictated by the confines of her attire.]

[He has absolutely learned to school his expressions and his words. Honor among men, especially men of means, is notoriously fragile. His care comes from a more sincere place however, in that he would like not to offend his friend while she's hosting her own party.]

And you. You look, ah. Very beautiful. [And she does! But he moves the conversation along quickly.] Have you seen Caleb? I've never seen him in uniform in my life. He refused to shave and that's more than fair, but... [Ben clearly thinks it's hilarious and someone so acquainted with propriety might also find it amusing; a rogue like Caleb in formal military attire.]
