Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

[Daisy smiles when she mentions coming here with her boyfriend. He had pointed Wynonna out at the last event.]

So your thing is donuts and his is getting whiskey? Sorry, that probably sounds stalker-y, I ran into him at the Christmas party.

[Her expression falters just a little, but, she brushes it off.]

Oh, no, just me.

[middlefinger]

Donuts are totally my thing but whiskey? That's both of our thing. [there's a pause and then:] Did I seriously just call something our thing? I swear I'm going soft in this place.

[but she switches gears at daisy's response.]

Well, you look banging-hot, if you wanted to find someone to go home with I bet you could.

[wynonna, not everyone is you and that's not exactly comforting. she tried.]

[Pressing her lips together, Daisy barely suppresses a smile at Wynonna's realization. It was cute.

Laughing softly, Daisy almost rolls her eyes.]

Yeah I'm not so sure about that.

[She has a lot of baggage she's still carrying, it was probably way too obvious and way too much of a turn off.]

What makes you say that?

[wynonna has her own fair share of baggage, and she still found someone. granted, doc had known her and her damage already and that probably helped, but still.]

Daisy is quick to get off the topic of all of that though. Instead choosing to spin Wynonna, or at least attempting to.]

[Wynonna was going to argue that but suddenly Daisy is spinning her, which Wynonna allows with an amused laugh.]

You have as good of moves out here as you do sparring.

I'm not sure that's saying much considering we're just going in literal circles, but, thanks. Self taught.

Fair enough -- but as someone who is also mostly self taught, I can still appreciate it.

[doc has taught her how to do more formal dancing now, but that's a more recent development.]

Did you teach yourself too?

I did -- much like fighting I mostly taught myself though recently I've been taught some more formal steps. I'm self-taught on most things.

[once she was a teenager she was more or less on her own, bounced between juvenile hall and foster homes.]
