[NYE Party] happy new year and lots of fun

Who: EVERYONE, but especially you!
Where: Wonderland Ballroom
When: New Year's Eve
Rating: PG - PG13 (will change if applicable)
Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown.
]

[ Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? ]

Thanks! It took me forever to figure out the tie. . so I gave up and just got a clip-on one.

( look he'll even pull it off to show teddy. clips on, pulls right back off. thank you modern technology. )

I haven't really dressed up like this either. You look nice, too! Super cool.

[He laughs-- it's exactly the sort of thing Teddy himself would have done when he was younger, too.]

Wanna know a secret the adults never want you to find out? Unless you show someone you're wearing a clip-on, nobody can tell.

[Maybe eagle-eyed mothers, but nobody else.]

You think I look cool? [That takes him by surprise, but he smiles broadly again. Little alien friend, your candor is much appreciated.] Thanks! I was a little nervous about dressing fancy enough for the occasion, but I'd say we both pulled it off pretty well.
kryptomight: (together、 we're unstoppable.)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-08 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
( teddy always looks cool, as far as jon is concerned. it probably has something to do with the whole shapeshifting teen superhero thing. not that he's biased except he totally is or anything. )

Usually when I dress fancy, it's in a hoodie and a cape. So this is way different! ( the tip about the tie will be noted and remembered for later. )

I had a suit back home, but I outgrew it a little while ago.

[Just wait until Wonderland gives him an excuse to turn into a centaur or a dragonman or something, Jon. Then you'll really be blown away.]

I think I'd love to live somewhere a hoodie and a cape were considered 'fancy.'

[He can get behind that dress code.]

You'll probably outgrow a lot of stuff like that. When I was about your age, I started going through clothes so fast, my mom started buying them too big just so they would last a little bit longer. I'm pretty sure it's not Kree or Skrull specific-- humans go through spurts like that, too. Feels like it's universal.
kryptomight: (heard a rumor once.)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-12 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My dad's giant, so I'm sure I'll get super giant, too.

( living up to superman sounds a little scary, honestly, but living up to his height? not entirely difficult. jon was gaining inches of height super fast before he ended up here. )

. . but I haven't grown at all since I ended up here, which is really weird! Like. . not an inch. I lost a tooth a while ago and it still hasn't grown back in either.

[personal profile] dangerouslyunhip 2018-01-15 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. Bet it's in the genes.

[Super height must be a part of the whole Superman gig.]

I know a little about that, actually. You know Billy? [Teddy presses his lips together for a moment.] He's been here for over three years, but he still looks the exact same age he did back home. I don't think anyone gets any older here.

[Losing a tooth and not having it come back just seems like insult to injury on top of the 'time stands still' thing, too.]
kryptomight: (he has such a potty mouth.)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-15 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
( it's only been a few months for the tooth--it could very well just be a slow grower, especially considering how he. managed to knock it out. jon isn't too worried about it, anyway. it's evident enough when he smiles, the gap between teeth--but it's not super needed. )

That's weird. He looks like he's supposed to still be growing! Billy isn't that old yet.

Crazy, isn't it?

[He gives a lopsided sort of smile, reaching to rub at the back of his neck.]

Wonderland doesn't seem to care how old people are. As long as we're here, we stay the same as the first day we showed up.
kryptomight: (it's quite the predicament.)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-20 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm almost eleven.

( he says that as if. the year should make a huge difference. and maybe it should? kids his age tend to grow pretty fast, jon is no exception. )

How old're you?
dangerouslyunhip: (20)

that was a harder question to answer than it should have been...

[personal profile] dangerouslyunhip 2018-01-20 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Nineteen.

[Barely. And, given that boys tend to grow a little slower than girls throughout their teen years, Teddy isn't quite done, either-- though he probably won't get any taller, and his particular talents mean that natural growth can be fudged a little.]

And as long as I'm here, I guess I'm gonna stay nineteen.
kryptomight: (with stars in his eyes.)

#comictimelines

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-20 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
( that. has him pausing for a moment, brows furrowed before they raise up in realization of what exactly that means. )

I guess I'll always be ten, too.
dangerouslyunhip: (11)

what are they even good for

[personal profile] dangerouslyunhip 2018-01-26 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Teddy gives him a small but sympathetic smile in reply.]

As long as we're here, anyway. That won't be forever. We'll get to go home.
kryptomight: (dad said it was "inappropriate".)

ruining lives

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-26 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so. A lot've people who were here when I got here are gone now, and you said Billy's been here for like. . forever.

( three years is forever when it's a third of one's entire lifespan thus far. )

I miss my Mom a lot. .
dangerouslyunhip: (21)

accurate

[personal profile] dangerouslyunhip 2018-01-28 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[He can't help frowning; it's hard, seeing Jon so discouraged when he's usually so bright and energetic.]

You'll see her again. I promise.

[Even if he doesn't have any direct control when it comes to making sure that it happens, he's positive that it will.]

And when you do, it'll be like no time has passed.
kryptomight: (where should we run to?)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-28 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean, like no time's passed?

( it's been months since he got here, almost half a year. that's a lot of time. clearly he can't just forget all of it happened. )
dangerouslyunhip: (31)

[personal profile] dangerouslyunhip 2018-01-30 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, for us, it will have, but for your mom-- for everyone we left behind back home, it'll be like we were never gone.

[He sighs.]

It doesn't undo anything that's happened here, but I think it helps a little, to know that they're not stuck missing us-- even if we're missing them.
kryptomight: (can you ever forgive me?)

[personal profile] kryptomight 2018-01-31 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
( it also means no one's looking for him, though. he figured, he's missing, his dad would come look for him soon. but if time doesn't pass back home. . )

I guess it helps a little. ( even if ruined his whole "my dad will find me eventually and save everyone" trail of thought. )
