[NYE Party] happy new year and lots of fun
Who: EVERYONE, but especially you!
Where: Wonderland Ballroom
When: New Year's Eve
Rating: PG - PG13 (will change if applicable)
Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:
[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering dΓ©cor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.
Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

[ Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? ]

No one's ever called me that before. Captain Jones, more like. Captain Killian would take some getting used to. [He stretches his hand out between them.] I wasn't always Hook, as you now know.
no subject
[ She shakes his hand, and this time introduces herself by her full name. ]
Liv Moore. Fellow unwilling Wonderland resident. It's nice to meet you, Captain Killian.
no subject
[He raises his glass to her in lieu of a handshake or polite bow.]
Ah, yes. I've been lead to believe that perms are no good. This Captain Hook that other worlds have seen is not quite as handsome as the real thing. Good to know that I've bested those expectations.

[He motions to his shoulder with his hook, like he's showing how tall he was. Except he's not quite on the mark.]
How do you know them? Other than they assumed you were a fairy.

[ Liv shakes her head a little. ]
Wonderland is so weird.
no subject
[Wonderland is far from normal, and far from weird, too. It's in its own category of strange, no matter which version they're talking about.]
An event with zombies? Do parties like this happen often?
[He may be misunderstanding the whole "event" thing just a tad. When someone says the word, he imagines something just as grand as this.]
no subject
[ Let her just back track. ]
Okay, so when I say 'event' I mean 'horrible suffering inflicted on all of us courtesy of someone's memory.' Here's the deal: Wonderland takes someone's memory, usually something terrible and makes us all live in a version of that memory. For example, you should get this one. Wonderland itself, the entire place, turned into Neverland. People died because of some poison and some people turned into Lost Boys trying to kill everyone else. It wasn't Good.
[ She only knows because of the archives, she wasn't here for it, but reading about it had been terrifying enough. ]
Sometimes the entire mansion disappears and we're someplace else, like Neverland. Sometimes it takes away what we know about ourselves and turns us into other people. Like people who think they've always lived in Wonderland and questioning it is ground for a beheading. Things like this happen about every two weeks, and normally it sucks, hard.
no subject
[He drops the word heavily, his voice ripe with disbelief. If he thought that this place couldn't get any stranger after meeting Tinkerbell's twin, he was sorely wrong. Looks like there's more to this place than what meets the eye, and he's not so sure how to feel about that.
He takes another gulp back of his rum.]
I'd say we're probably lucky for the grand, pompous celebration tonight, then. How does one defeat these... memories?
no subject
I mean, if it's something we can fight, like a monster, we fight. But then sometimes Wonderland will only give us certain weapons, or won't give us any at all. The events end eventually, anywhere from three days to a week after they start.
[ Should she tell him why people die so often? She should. Probably. It's the neighborly thing to do. ]
Our deaths...fuel Wonderland. When we die think of it as...I don't know. Nourishment? It needs us to get killed, some of us more than once. You can die over and over again, Wonderland brings you back somehow.
no subject
I'd do well to remember that, then. But, if there's one thing Wonderland has yet to learn about me, it's that I'm good at surviving.
[So it can try all it wants. He breathes out a laugh and looks about the party.]
Apologies, it's a bit grim for a celebration like this, I'm sure. Grand parties like this must be tradition in some places.
no subject
[ She turns to the table behind her hand picks up two glasses of champagne, handing him one. ]
Eat, drink, and be merry.
no subject
Is this rum?
[Definitely doesn't look like it.]
no subject
no subject
[He holds it out to clink against Liv's, moving his eyes back to her, but they dart down to the glass every now and again, watching the bubbles fizz to the top.]
Well, I'm not so sure what I expect to come in the new year, but cheers all the same, love.
no subject
Cheers. May none of us get killed by Wonderland this year.
no subject
It's... interesting?
Killian smiles at Liv and motions to the dancers.]
I'll allow you to return to the merriment of the party. Surely, there's someone out there who seeks a dance with you.
[He doesn't want to force her to suffer through what he'll be like by the end of the evening, after several drinks. He's going to need them if this is where and how he'll be spending his time. And there's someone he's been looking for...]
no subject
[ She smiles and heads over to where Frank appears to be doing a lot of standing around, determined to get him on the dance floor. ]
