Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]

Well, when things go south again, guess we know who to blame.

[Emma actually manages to keep her own tone teasing, as well-- being a glass or two of champagne into the evening is definitely helping with that.]

Given the whole 'kidnapped' angle apparently counts as 'not that bad,' I'm not especially looking forward to what else this place has to offer, but I figure I'm gonna find out the hard way sooner or later.

[She grimaces, giving Freya a sidelong glance.]

I dressed up and I'm mingling, at least. I'll let you know when the 'fun' part of this starts to kick in.

My first event was a zombie apocalypse -- after that the kidnapping really did seem kinda less bad. Which is weird to say out loud, but still kinda true.

[which probably isn't comforting, whoops.]

The fun in this place tends to be what you make of it -- at least in my experience. It feels like the biggest f-you we can give the people trying to torture us, finding ways to be happy in spite of it all, even if it's only briefly.

So far, the worst I've seen is 'gingerbread mansion' and kooky doppelgangers. Guess I got off easy.

[Certainly by comparison. The mere mention of zombies has her gaze narrowing a little bit.]

'Zombie worlds.' Words I never thought I'd hear anyone say in conjunction with one another.

Small world! Mine was Alexanderia -- from Michonne's world.

Kooky seems like an understatement when it comes to the doppelgangers -- I had the luck of meeting my boyfriend's and he's a total douchecanoe.

Mine was an event from Ellie's. It was ... extremely unpleasant.

[Fungus zombies are gross. And on, we're talking about mirrors, time for a prolonged drink.]

Oh, if either of you happen to meet mine, I would run the other way.

[It won't actually do them much good, but it might buy them some time.]
