[NYE Party] happy new year and lots of fun

Who: EVERYONE, but especially you!
Where: Wonderland Ballroom
When: New Year's Eve
Rating: PG - PG13 (will change if applicable)
Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown.
]

[ Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? ]

Oh, trust me mate. That much I do know.

[He shakes his head, exhaling a laugh through his nose.]

Pan is depicted as some kind of hero in these tales. And I will make every concerted effort to not become the man they think I am.

[What with the perms and ugly mustaches. No thanks, that's not really his style.]

And what of your world? I've learned to assume that not many of us are from the same?

[Now that is quite the interesting contrast from what Rip knows. Not the bit about perms and pencil mustaches, but who plays the hero and who doesn't? Well. The adage would imply there's some truth to every legend--but only so much in this case, it would seem.]

Definitely not, in this case. Although... [He considers those incredible "characters" he knows from his home universe, all quite real to him, but so extraordinary to so many. After all, the world at large is only just becoming acquainted with superheroes in the time most of them are from.] ...I suppose a number of those I'm acquainted with might seem the stuff of legend all the same.

[He finally manages to catch the bartender's attention, and quickly waves him over to ask for a glass of rum. Nothing special in it.]

Legends?

[That's quite the word. The legends he knows of are the stories passed down through centuries. Ursula the sea witch, the Eye of the Storm, which ended up not being a legend afterall, Pegasus... nothing he's really had the opportunity to meet.]

What makes them so?

[Rip tilts his head briefly back and forth when Killian picks up on that singular word. Yes, he knows how ridiculous it sounds—largely because the group adopted the name as a form of mockery and defiance of the lie Rip told them when he gathered them all up.]

Sheer stubbornness, mostly. Their belief that in spite of everything they might be told, and whatever odds that they face, they'll somehow manage to triumph all the same.

[And how they have, first against Vandal Savage, and—if what Rip has been told is to be believed—against the Legion of Doom.]

Ah, yes. Stubborness.

[He can't help but laugh a little at the irony of it. Emma, Snow, especially David... and even Regina to an extent. They are all unbelievably hard-headed even for him, but it was always something that got them where they are now. The sheer unwillingness to give up on what they've set their minds to, even if it's not the brightest of plans.]

The one thing all heroes have in common. Where would they be without it...

Oh, but it's not just heroes that make up the legends.

[Either in the general sense of the term or the specific group whose members Rip counts just then. He drains a bit more of his glass--not greedily so, but it's clear he's used to the drink and the way it burns--then casts another glance towards Killian.]

I think a certain amount of stubbornness is required to be featured in those stories at all, regardless of where one falls on the moral scale. The greater variable is just what someone is being stubborn about.

[The bartender finally brings him his drink, sliding it across the bar towards him, and Killian takes his first sip. He purses his lips together to both test and savour the taste, and... well, it's not that bad. A little weaker than what he's used to drinking in the taverns when he ported for a night, but he'll take it.]

And what sort of things were these legends stubborn about? Surely not stopping dark curses. I'd be a bit surprised if that were the case.
