Summary: New Year's Eve Party
The Story:

[ Previously in the month all residents received an invitation to a formal event: a black tie affair to ring in the New Year. The ballroom and adjacent areas are decked out for the party starting at eight o'clock sharp, meticulously planned and executed, glittering décor to match the no doubt glittering attire as music pours into the halls from the dance floor.

Bars flank each side, service for all manner of alcohol unless a minor requests something, and the primary setting stage features an enormous clock for the countdown. ]




[ Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight? ]

You'd be a rabbit, or whatever else the food has people turning into. [ There have to be more effects than those, though she hasn't heard of them yet. ] And that would be t-hare-ible.

[ Oh, Robyn. Sweetie. No. ]

I saw Hawke. He was some kind of bear.

[Nathaniel thinks he might have actually had it better in that respect, but then again, Hawke would not have had Oren eyeing him up like he might make a good snack.]

Robyn, I have to tell you, if you do that again I'm going to lose some of my respect for you.

[He isn't.]

A bear? [ That... suits him, and it also surprises a laugh out of her. ] Well, I imagine that was a sight.

[ To put it lightly. ]

Oh, no you won't. You would be sad without the occasional joke, wouldn't you? [ She isn't a joke-teller, really, but she'll come up with some puns if it'll make him laugh (or groan, exasperated). ] I'm sure that Garrett would grin and bear it.

[ ........... ]

That goes without saying.

[The music trails off and Nathaniel stops, a moment passing before he takes his hands off her. He shakes his head and suppresses an exasperated groan, lightly pinching the bridge of his nose.]

Robyn....

[Please.]

This is getting out of hand.

All right, all right. I'll stop. [ She holds her hands up in surrender, but she's still grinning. ] I can only hope that I tease you this much in Thedas.

[ The Robyn who lives beyond the Fifth Blight is a little more wearied than the one who doesn't, but she'll never know that, will she? ]
