[OPEN] i don't need love, for what good will love do me?

Who: Peridot AND YOU
Where: This mysterious neon land that belongs to no one. no one at all.
When: Throughout the event.
Rating: PG
Summary: Peridot gets a few things she's always wanted and screams about singing being the answer to everything.
The Story:

๐š. ๐๐ข๐š๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐ง๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ž ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฆ๐ž

This is... Odd. Peridot's not used to odd, even with Wonderland being as it is. She just can't get her head around all these warped monstrosities that keep trying to befriend or offer her things. For the most part, she's skulking about in an agitated mood, because events are stupid, but at least most of them make some measure of sense. This one is just... stupid.

But it isn't all stupid, as she comes to find out. She stakes out a spot underneath a stuffed animal tree which seems to have sprouted a number of big-eyed green beings that make her eyes widen in wonder.

And then, all of a sudden, a huge shadow passes over her. The owner of the shadow is a giant yellow woman. Peridot yelps and skitters backwards until she hits the trunk of the stuffed animal tree, but the woman only clasps her hands to her chest and kneels- even kneeling she's still taller than the tree.

"Oh, my Peridot," she croons in a voice that is authoritative, yet somehow also compassionate. "You're right. You've always been right. I have been a dreadful clod. I want daily logs on all your findings and I will implement all your ideas straight away. You're going to usher in a new era of Homeworld."

Peridot lets out a squeak and looks around until she spies someone else who seems to have come to investigate the GIANT WOMAN. "Do you... Do you see this?" She looks so transfixed, so delighted. Please someone tell her this is real.

Peridot has been of two minds this entire event- torn between getting everything she wants and knowing it's all just a program tapping into her needs. That said, she isn't expecting the sudden shift in the event, and it makes her want to stamp her feet and scream about these stupid locals and their stupid fixation on zombies.

Once she knows what she has to do, she's even more annoyed. She has found a portable karaoke machine and is running around with it dragging behind her as she's pursued by a horrifying zombie dog. She's screaming loudly the whole time.

She's hard to miss.

At least it'll make running from the zombies easier.

"I'm pretty sure it's Gravity Falls' fault this time." So at least there's that; zombies that are vulnerable only to a very specific kind of harmony sounds like the arbitrary sort of rule that would apply to the creatures of Gravity Falls. It makes them only slightly more tolerable than ordinary zombies, but that much more difficult to dispatch.

They might not have a hard light body, but the unalloyed power of Determination is a powerful tool. But even that, theyโ€™ve learned, can eventually run dry. Especially here.

โ€œSo we find a tree to climb or a building to hide in until we can call Lapis,โ€ says Frisk, considerably more decisive than they feel. Theyโ€™re not much of a leader. Theyโ€™re not much of anything ina FIGHT. Maybe Shepard was right.
determinedest: (* I know why Chara climbed the mountain.)

Zombies can't climb, Frisk has learned from experience, and thus they find the tree to be a reasonable haven.

"I'll give you a boost," they offer, crouching at the foot of the tree with their hands locked together. Never mind that they're the one most vulnerable to being bitten and therefore turned, if that gets to be the case. Clearly that's not important here. Peridot's safety takes precedence, and they have ever intention of ensuring she's safe first.
determinedest: (* Anime is not real.)

Fortunately, Frisk has learned to climb trees quite well. They're not too terribly difficult, as long as you have hand- and footholds, and this one has plenty of dents and divots in its trunk to account for that. Still, the proffered hand is welcome, and they cling to it eagerly to scramble up after - hopefully not piling too much additional weight and toppling the gem entirely.

At least they're not too heavy. Though this does raise a rather interesting question -

"Where do we go from here?"
determinedest: (* They could easily destroy mankind.)

The longer she stays like that, the longer Frisk stares back on turn. Itโ€™d be rude to break the silence and interrupt, but - but she seems pretty wrapped up in what sheโ€™s doing, and they still have an awful lot of zombies to contend with.

Eventually, they have to speak up, tentatively.

โ€œIs...is everything okay?โ€ Everything is probably FINE.
determinedest: (* Its SOUL remains stable.)

"Can't?" Frisk repeats, the word slightly wavering. Is she in trouble? Is she hurt? Is she in danger of getting poofed? Can't is very much divergent to I don't want to or I'm unable to, or any other number of things.

Can't is significantly more concerning.

They inch up the tree a bit more securely, brow scoring deeper with concern.

"Is she okay?"
determinedest: (* If you hoped with all your heart)

That certainly gets their attention. Frisk sits up so swiftly that they nearly overbalance and slide off the branch they're perched on, and have to steady themself before they pitch over into the mass of moaning, clawing hands.

"We have to help her." It's sharp, immediate, and - somewhat horrified.
determinedest: (* Even when you felt trapped)

โ€œSo where is she?โ€ They need specifics here, and they certainly donโ€™t seem to be getting any. The zombies seem rather secondary, all things considered - theyโ€™re little more than a snarling backdrop to the far more pertinent situation involving Lapis, whatever that may be.

โ€œTell her weโ€™re coming,โ€ Frisk adds, regardless of the how or where; such things are peripheral compared to actually seeing Lapis safe.
determinedest: (* She'll find another kid.)

[personal profile] determinedest 2018-02-06 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
โ€œThink of what?โ€ Theyโ€™re getting limited context here, all things considered, and even if theyโ€™ve been following reasonably well up until this point, thatโ€™s roughly the moment where they lose the thread. Whatever revelation Peridot has just had, theyโ€™re not parsing just yet.
determinedest: (* You really ARE different from Chara.)

[personal profile] determinedest 2018-02-08 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh boy. Maybe theyโ€™d both fit, but itโ€™s not necessarily just a question of spacing. Frisk considers that solemnly for several long moments.

โ€œIt might be too heavy,โ€ they offer dubiously. โ€œI mean, I might be...too heavy.โ€ Theyโ€™re not made of hard light, after all.
determinedest: (* Foolish ones)

...

Well, their alternative options are to sit around and wait for the zombies to get them, so right now? That seems like their best bet. Frisk straightens up, sets their mouth in a thin, determined line, and nods.

"Okay. Let's try it."
