Nageki wasn't expecting a unicorn either. He's a kid, but not so young that he doesn't know unicorns don't exist. He also doesn't care at the moment. Nageki will take help from anyone who will provide it.

"I need to find the police. I was kidnapped and I don't know where I am." The police will make things better. They can help Nageki find Hitori and let the older bird know that Nageki is still alive. They'll catch the humans who kidnapped him.
