the Story:

Click, snap. Click, snap.

Flicking and closing the lighter in his hand was his only means of passing time. Eyes hidden cleverly under the shadow of hat brim, m!Ryo's back was resting against the wall with his free hand in the pocket of his jacket. Over and over he fiddled with the little device. it was simple but it kept him preoccupied while she was in there. There was no one in sight, not a single soul lingering in the hall. It was his job to make sure the corridors were clear. There was no need for anyone to be interrupting her.

There was a light thump of his head now against the wall. Thumbing the brim of the fedora, blue eyes peered to the side where the door remained, closed. Time was no matter here so there was no telling just how long the mirror had been waiting. Though because of his devoted loyailty it didn't matter either way.

Silence was deafening. There were no sounds within the halls -- within the room -- it was almost as if the mirror!verse were deserted. The door to the room was tightly shut. The Queen had entered into the room for some time. But, it wasn't until the door finally make a squeaking noise...

What came out from the door was not the normal Queen (or normally, an angry Queen when she was done). Instead the Queen stood there, in the door way; her normally well kept persona disheveled and slightly charred. Pieces of her dress were smouldering and to put it blunty; she looked like she had been put through the ringer.

Her hair was loose from her bun, and it looked as if it were to fall at any moment... but the Queen's body was quick and she feel forward on a one way trip to the floor.

The floor would seem to have stop just inches from her face - there had been a final snap of the lighter, stuffing it into his pocket just before reaching out with an arm. Catching her around the middle there was a brief look of panic on his face. even the fedora slipped off from his head he moved with such speed and ease.

"Your Majesty?" Down to his knees he went with the Queen still held protectively in his arms. he used his lap as a resting place for her head. The loose strands of hair had fallen upon her beautiful face. With a gentle touch he brushed them away, tucking them behind her ear.

But there was no response from the Queen of Hearts. There she laid upon the cold tile floor looking more haggard and unkept. She was breathing, but her chest only rose up and down shallowly. Her eyes weren't fully open, but her red eyes normally that were so lively (whether in anger, or boredom, or amusement) were blank. All that she could muster up was a small painful moan every now and then.

That rare look of concern could be seen on his face. There was a frown tugging on his lips, arms shifting the position he held their precious Queen. She seemed so frail and weak as he lifted her up. Her head came to rest against his chest and he holding her as close as possible. "Hold on, my Queen. Just rest." Whatever had happened in THAT ROOM it did not seem promising - not with how it left the Queen. Fedora abandoned in the hall he walked swiftly at great strides.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few hours had passed since the Queen had fallen unconcious within the mirror!verse. She had been brought back to where the majority of the mirror!dwellers were and had been immediately taken to her chambers; a new set of clothes she had been changed into. There were a few bandages upon the bare parts of her body as she laid upon the sheets, sleeping in unrest, making a few painful moans every so often.

There was a young girl sitting at her bedside watching over her Highness. Careful hands wrung the damp cloth so that it would not drip. gentle fingers dabbing it against her cheek to clean that last signs of those burns. Pink hair hung loose over her shoulders and golden eyes watching silently.

"She will be fine - her Highness only needs to rest."

Standing just a foot behind her the mirrior version of Ryo watched with a blank expression. Hands had resumed their place in his pockets, his typical stance.

As soon as the last remaining burn on her cheek was cleaned, it looked as though sweat had begun to accumulate on her pale skin. There was a bit of tossing and turning before The Queen shot up quickly in bed in a sitting position. Gasping in pain, she leaned forward to lay her head against her knee, panting quickly as her eyes were wide open. "..... hhrrrg!" Her hands clenched tightly on her forearms as she breathed heavily.

He would have said something along the lines of "You were saying?" to the humaritt mirror but her safety was his top priority.

Already the pink-haired girl was aiding the Queen, speaking softly to her as a hand groped behind her for medications and sedatives on the nightstand beside her. something - anything for their lovely Lady to help her ease her pain if only a little. On the other hand, ryo had moved to sit on the opposite side of the bed. Reaching out a hand he held her head to his chest again to try and comfort her.

"Please, m'lady... you need to rest.."

The Queen felt hands all over her. She could not really tell who they were. The pain of being woken up was finally subsiding and all that was left was anger; pure anger and hatred as she threw her arm back to keep the girl from getting the sedatives. "DO NOT TOUCH ME." She yelled before she turned her head sharply up to m!Ryo who was trying his best to comfort her. The woman realized who it was and calmed a little bit before she winced in pain.

-- it was at that point she rememebered why she had woken up and growls while panting heavily, ".. Take me... to my throne room..... NOW!" The Queen shifted on the bed, trying to get off the comfort of her bed.

The young girl opened her mouth to speak but he beat her to it. It was probably for the best at that. Already backing away to leave her Highness some room, "Very well, m'lady." To argue with her would no result in kind.

There was set angry determination set in the Queen's red eyes as she pushed herself off the bed, ignoring the pain her body was shooting through her system. She could not be stopped; she had to do this; anger raged within her as her feet stepped upon the cold floor. Standing, she wobbled for a moment before she trudged on, her long wavy hair down and flowing all around her swaying back and forth in her pursuit to the throne room.

M!Ryo stopped the other mirror with a held up hand when she tried to follow their Queen; she huffed and made a face. But a silent glare from him silenced any notion of her disobeying. When around him the others knew that he was considered her number one guard. He disappeared after her Highness, leaving the girl behind.

As she walked through the hallways, all her mirror!subjects that came past her stopped. Seeing the disheveled form of their Queen, they all tried to question her but were hesitant when they saw the mad look in her eyes. Some cowered in fear, others didn't need a word. Everyone parted in the hallways for her. She found her way to her throne room and weakily pushed both doors open, not caring if they hit the walls with a large THUD noise.

-- she had a mission, and her eyes were locked on the mirrors she used to view the other side of the mansion.

The others ahd tried to approach him for answers. A fair share of glares and waves to them kept them at bay; he had no time to listen to them. the bang echoed throughout the halls, he being one of the few that did not jump from being startled by it.

The Queen of Hearts stood in front of her mirror, staring at her reflection before it rippled away to a shot of the outside of the manor. She held her hands out and placed her palms on the cold glass; her breath coming out in erratic gasps. The mirror's image flickered between all the different residents; some happy, some sad, some angry.

"How dare you." The Queen's eyes flashed angrily as for a moment, her hands pulsated with a dark light and thus causing the image to ripple gently at first until it became like disturbed water, "It's because of all of you. ALL OF YOU." With one final burst of power, the Queen felt all the anger drain from her as whatever power she had called upon was sent forth to the mansion and its residents.

-- To which, her head fell forward onto the mirror as she slid down to the ground, weak and very much still in pain, "... nnnnn!"

"Your Highness... !"

Footsteps echoed in the grea room, the man hurrying to her side. Not unlike before, his hands found her sides to help her up as carefully as he possibly could. "Please, m'lady... you must get back to resting..." she could use him for support during the time that he led her, step by step, down the red carpeted ground to the doorway once more.

She felt very limp in his arms as she used all her strength to hold onto the wall, "....." Huffing, her eyes wearily glanced up at m!Ryo, unable to keep herself from going on anymore today. Nodding, she replaced her hands onto his shoulders and hoisted herself up as best she could mostly leaning on him for much support as they walked back to her chambers for her to rest.

The Queen hurt; but she wasn't allowing the rest of the mansion to go on without a scratch.
