joy and malice. [ incomplete ]
Who: Rhode Camelot
thesweetestkill and Karin Maaka
bloodmaker
Where: Floor 13, Room 1300. Rhode's room.
When: Uh, backdated. August 1st, I think, or somewhere around there.
Rating: R. ...Yeah, pretty R. Blood, gore; all kinds of crap.
Summary: Ever since she just so happened to find ashabby doll in her room (thx mansion D|), Rhode had an idea. On her search for someone to play with, one reverse-vampire, Karin, unknowlingly offered. Rhode's game of choice: the Nine Circles of Noah's Dreams. Oh yeah, Divine Comedy style. Immerse yourself with religious references! It's FF7 all over again--only less polygons and more gore!
The Story:
Rhode was getting pretty excited. This was her first time playing with anyone in Wonderland's mansion; she was too anxious to have some fun with anyone to even make sure that this Karin Maaka was human. Not everything was quite what it seemed here, after all, but Rhode was fine enough with anything right now.
A smile crept onto her face. It reached her cheeks--and then it passed them. The little Noah was so full of glee that she had to cover her inhuman grin to keep herself from laughing a mix of joy and malice.
All that was left was to wait.
Rhode leaned against her door and slid into a sit, the doll she had found in her hands. The thing itself looked demented in its messy incompletion: its yellow yarn hair didn't do much to cover its white head, deformed in its lack of cotten stuffing. It didn't have eyes or a nose, but there was a crooked mouth, sewn on as an afterthought. Its white limbs dangled dangerously underneath its dress. Incongruously, the messy doll's clothes were neat and ornate, full of frills and lace and pastel orange colors.
She picked absently at one of its few strands of hair, watching the doll's face stretch strangely with each tug.
Rhode was all ready to begin her Dream. More than ready.

If only she knew what she was getting into.
Her breathing was normal again. She absent-mindedly smoothed out her skirt, realizing her appearance wouldn't count for much. Still, she insisted to herself, she shouldn't look messy. With this is mind, she also fixed her hair a bit before knocking on the door.
She waited, politely, a trace of a smile still on her lips. She wondered briefly if she should have brought something from the kitchens- a snack or box lunch in case either got hungry.

Rhode climbed back onto her feet, peeked out through the peephole excitedly, and, with a satisfied grin, opened the door to see her new playmate standing outside.
Karin really was cute. And just oh so oblivious, with that friendly little smile on her face. And that just happened to be Rhode's favorite kind of doll!
"Karin, right?" Rhode confirmed brightly. "Come inside and we can start our game!" The would-be little girl was nearly skipping as she retreated back into her room, allowing her friend to come inside, the doll still clutched tightly in her hand.
Her innocent facade slipped just a bit, as she eyed the other girl, waiting for her to close the door behind her. Her gaze was... strange, almost hungry.
[I'll be gone for tonight and tomorrow morning, btw. :x Sorry.]

-until Karin caught the strange gaze. For a brief second she froze, reminded of her brother when he went out. That look... it usually didn't bode well. In the back of her mind, a little panic went off. What if it was a trap? Could there be vampire hunters in this place after all?
She tried to calm down, although she'd gotten a bit stiff. She was too young to be a hunter... right? Even though Winner was a hunter, he was in high school. This girl... no, Karin assured herself. She was imagining things. Her blood level must be a little high, and so she was seeing things.
That had to be it, she told herself.
"So what are the rules of the game, Rhode?" she asked with a smile.

"First of all," she began, "no... leaving."
With that, every single bit of furniture in the room floated into the air and shot behind Karin, blocking the door from view and, more importantly, reach.
"This game is called...!" A pointed finger was raised into the air. "Nine Circles of Hell!" Rhode's skin slowly darkened, stopping at a dark tan, and a row of crosses suddenly materialized across her forehead. But Karin would only see them for a second, as the "little girl" now began to unravel from her fingertip, working down to her feet, until she was no longer there. The room was suddenly dark, the floor black and white checkers, the walls no longer visible.
And Karin? Karin was in that pretty little orange dress.

"Rh-Rhode?" she glanced around warily. The vampire stood very still, as if any movement would set off some horrible chain reaction. She glanced down at her own outfit. How had that happened? How had all this happened? Was the girl a hunter? Or something entirely different?
Karin tried to calm herself down. She had to just... stay calm! Maybe this was all some mistake! That was what she had to hope for!

The Rhode-shaped figured popped up from the ceiling, this time, as she continued, "Do you know about the First Circle? It's called Limbo. Those here aren't actually punished, really~. They simply grieve their separation from... God! But that's not fun enough, is it?"
A clear box suddenly fell from the sky, landing on the checkered ground with a lard thud. It wasn't very large in height or length, but width was another story. It would have taken up the entire room... if they were still in the room.

Being so on edge, she practically jumped when the box fell. She let out a tiny scream, although quickly muffling it with her hand. She repeated the mantra of Don't Panic over and over again in her mind.
"I-It doesn't sound fun at all," she nervously agreed, glancing around. "Grieving is hardly... 'fun'..." As she spoke, however, she got a dreadful suspicion that Rhode's idea of fun was more twisted than she'd seen so far.

"But you, Karin. I doubt you could really grieve a seperation from some guy you don't even know! So I decided we'd change the rules just a little bit, all for you~." The voice seemed to come from nowhere now.
But at those words, figures inside of the box began to fade into view. The figures of... her parents. Her brother and sister. And the figures of her friends, Maki, Usui, and Winner. They were at the opposite end of the box, not too far away from Kari, but still out of reach behind the window-like walls.
And they were in chains.
"Separation from those that you love! Much more realistic for the sake of the game, don't you think?"

"Mama! Papa!... and Ren... and Anju!" Her shock was plainly written on her face, along with the sudden panic of seeing their condition. Forgetting her fear, she tried to reach them, but she ran into the wall.
"M-Maki-!" Little tears were forming at the corners of her eyes. "Rh-Rhode, please, let them go! I-I can't cause trouble for Usui-! Or Winner! They're not a part of this at all!" They were just her classmates. If this was some sort of hunter, then they had nothing to do with this. They couldn't even protect themselves like she knew her family could. Even though it was hopeless, she still banged her fists against the wall, as if it could help.
"Mama! Papa! Are you all right? Ren, answer me!... A-Anju-!" She tried to get their attention, calling out to them as loudly as she could.

Rhode reappeared in front of Karin, right on top of the box. "Isn't it strange how much simple separation can scare a human? I haven't even done anything to them yet!"
In the blink of an eye, she was gone again. For a few moments, there were no signs of her anywhere, until, suddenly, Karin felt a warm hug from behind.
"But Karin~, you can't forget about our game," Rhode whispered to her. "Why wait here and watch them get hurt, when you can live with the ambiguous knowledge that they all might be safe?"
no subject
"P-Please, let them go!" she asked again, voice quavering. She didn;t know how to respond,. She felt she could only keep asking and pray Rhode would sympathize. "I-I'll keep playing, j-just let them go-!" Tears kept coming, spilling down her face one by one. A few droplets got so far as to drip and stain her dress.
