[On the surface it's quite the nice offer, isn't it? Peggy, so kindly turning her plate towards Rip, asking if he might want to sample a taste of her funnel cake. And Rip, ever so obliging, has his fork at the ready in less than a heartbeat.]

That would be lovely, thank you.

[He meets her gaze as he tears off a bit of crisp pastry and apple topping, cutting nearer the center to get a solid chunk of the flavors she's chosen as accompaniment. Apples and almonds and ice cream, a lovely mix of taste and texture alike--one which he chews, considers with a hum, and swallows all while his plate remains out of her reach.]

That is rather good. [Classic, and well appreciated by a man with a penchant for such things. Of course, now would be the time in any polite exchange where Rip afforded Peggy the same courtesy she's just shown him: a turn of the plate, an unhindered moment for her to spear a sample of his selection for herself.

Which is precisely why Rip doesn't do it. Certainly Peggy can't think he would make it that easy on her at this juncture. And as luck would have it, a distraction times itself rather perfectly after the pause in which Rip makes his point clear.]

Someone's headed for the box, it looks like. [A person Rip doesn't recognize, even as he nods his head in that direction.]
