The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

On a flower-wreathed stand just outside the Mansion’s entrance stands a familiar blue box with a red seal appears on Monday, March 12. It looks old and rusted, but the words DONATION BOX are still legible on its front. Placed next to it is a card, which reads the following text:

FORGET FOR A GOOD CAUSE
BRING BACK THE ONE WE LOST
The beginning of spring is a time for joy and happiness. It is a time for joy, and a time for growth. During this time, think of the help you could give to those who cannot yet help themselves. Touch the donation box and forget the words "morsicatio buccarum" for a good cause. The words may be gone, but your kindness will not be forgotten. In fact, it will be returned! In exchange for your memory, you will earn a prize.

On the back of the card the word in question is helpfully defined, for anybody who wishes to know more before saying goodbye to it:

MORSICATIO BUCCARUM At 18 letters, this two word term is derived from the Latin words for “bite” and “cheek.” You know how sometimes you bite the inside of your cheek by accident, and then you get that little ridge of tissue that sticks out so that you end up biting it again and again? That’s morsicatio buccarum.

OOC INFORMATION

The box will do exactly what the card describes. Anybody who touches it will feel dizzy for a brief moment, and then permanently forget the words "morsicatio buccarum", just as people would normally forget event words. Both Mirrors and Reals can donate the word. Donations both voluntary and involuntary will be accepted, meaning the word will also be forgotten by anybody touching the box by accident, or while forced or compelled.

Unlike the winter memory donation, this time, donors will receive something in return: a baseball style card containing information on one Mirror character. The front shows the Mirror’s picture, while the back shows information about the Mirror. (This information will be provided to players separately--players don't get to choose the Mirror whose information they receive.) What do you do with the card? That’s up to you.

[Like most things, Rocket doesn't entirely trust this, but it's one of those things where your options are "ignore it until it goes away" or "make the most of it," and as it's taking up a great deal of space and making a lot of noise, he finally just admits defeat and checks it out.

While some of the games and rides are things he's never seen before and seem lame in comparison, there are a few things that catch his eye- familiar things from street fairs on planets he's visited.

One of the shooting games is designed to look more "space age" with rifles that don't so much shoot air as very weak concentrated charges, designed to take down targets with a bit more oomph, but wouldn't give another person anything less than a small shock.

And he's pretty damn good at it too. He's amassed a collection of prizes that he doesn't particularly want or need, because he'd rather just hang out here knocking targets down with eagle-eyed precision and laughing about it.]

[Rocket damn well knows better than to eat the food in Wonderland, but it keeps getting offered to him, and while he can pass on the funnel cake and popcorn, when they start offering delicacies from other planets... Well, when is the next time he's gonna get that specific kind of jerky you can only get from the street vendors on Knowhere. It looks terribly unpleasant, but Rocket is eating the hell out of the greenish colored meat sticks.]

[ peggy announces her spectatorship thusly. much as when they'd spoken on the network, there's nothing outwardly notable about her appearance -- a good blouse, a fastidious hairstyle, and she may in fact be wearing heels on the fair-grounds (a mistake she won't be making again on following days).

but, idle-like, she picks up one of his discarded prizes and tweaks its little plush nose. a rag-doll of sorts -- sweet, but ultimately dull. what's rather more interesting is the frenzy of shots that once again find their marks.

( it's only after dark that jason comes out to the carnival in full gear, the glow his helmet gives off dulled down to just barely a glimmer of blue, activity in the visor almost non-existent. skirting around the edges of food booths and various activities laid out for the. . celebration, it's evident enough he's searching for something, even if it's not quite clear what that something may be.

usually, perhaps, he'd try to be a bit more stealthy about wandering about. now? he keeps to corners, but keeping an eye out for anyone who might notice him lurking around corners. )

( during the earlier hours of the evening, a man with a hoodie drawn in low over his face, a ballcap on under it, and obviously. . bulkier gear on under it (the cargo pants worn over legs are absolutely covered in gear, metal strapped to calves and covering knees, giant assed combat boots) wanders around the carnival, clearly not doing anything suspicious. what kind of suspicious person wanders around in a hoodie for fuck's sake?

anyone close enough would notice the "J" burned into the skin of a cheek, but jason does his best to keep anyone from getting close enough to notice; if someone starts walking right towards him, he turns on his heels and starts strolling off towards the side. and looking any closer, one could note an eerie resemblance to another resident of wonderland.

[The 8-foot tall giant goat man thing wearing a bright pink polo shirt and dad jeans sitting at a stand where he's currently about a third of the way through a foot-long corn dog notices the glowing eyes peeping out from the darkness.

He waves in your direction, then takes another bite of corn dog.

Glowing eyes in the dark is a perfectly normal occurrence when you live among monsters in a cavern beneath the earth.]

This looks ridiculous. [ Ellie is grinning, though, as she observes one of the many, many carnival games that has appeared on the mansion grounds. She starts to walk away in order to find another, though... until she spots one of the prizes. ]

... Whoa. [ As if mesmerized, she wanders back toward the booth and plops down on a stool, staring up at the giraffe that hangins from the ceiling within a plastic bag. She seems a bit lost in thought, but will wait for at least one competitor to join so that she can try and win the stuffed animal.

After a bit of waiting, she spins around on her stool and calls out to the closest passer-by: ] Hey! Wanna help me win an awesome prize?

[ One way or another, Ellie ends up with her giraffe (by the grace of another player or just sheer, determined playing on her own part). Now happily exploring the carnival with the toy in hand, she waits in line for the roller coaster - the front seat, of course - and settles in to one of two seats with the giraffe strapped in next to her. Why shouldn't he get in on the fun? ]

This looks awesome. [ She announces to the person sitting behind her, turning as much as she physically can to discuss the ride before it starts up. ] You been on anything else yet?

[ Ellie has won quite a few prizes by the time she settles in for some grub and can be found sitting with her giraffe, along with a stuffed gorilla, a t-rex, and a race horse. In front of her is a fairly disgusting slew of carnival fare, though she seems to have a hard time deciding which to sample first. ]

If you want to sit, I can move 'em. [ She says as someone passes by the table, gesturing to the animals which occupy its seats. While the other resident makes their decision, she holds up fried cheesecake on a stick and examines it, squinting somewhat. ]

Is this... seriously edible?

[Naoki is good at feats of strength. Really good. Good enough that he's currently dragging around half a dozen plush toys that he doesn't need or really even want. He'd tried not to take them, but the masked figures running the games were very insistent. He knows he should just stop playing, but the games are fun, okay?

So as he walks from game to game, he looks around for people who look like they might not mind him asking:] Would you like one of these?

Roller coaster;

[Naoki has never ridden a roller coaster. It seems like the kind of thing he'd like. But what if it's not? What if the ride gets started and it's terrifying? It's a little late to back out at that point. Though if he's being real, he's not above jumping off of a moving carnival ride if he has to, even if it would make him look like a big baby.

He lingers around the entrance to the ride, looking at the coaster longingly, before turning and looking across the way at the carousel. Maybe that would be more his thing.]

Food;

[Naoki is surprised and delighted to find that this place has takoyaki! Of course, he sticks one in his mouth while it's way too hot and has to stand there doing that thing where you breathe in and out really fast while trying not to let the food touch your tongue. After that, though, he waits a minute or two for them to cool before finishing them off.

And the next up is crepes, because who doesn't like crepes? Just give him a minute to figure out which flavor...]

[ He'd call this whole thing 'too good to be true' if anyone asked his damn opinion. This place had been the cliche of 'quiet. TOO quiet.' for way too long for his liking, and while other people are enjoying, he's just...suspicious.

But that doesn't mean he's not doing recon all over this place. He's been under the radar for far too long. ]

[ Yeah, this place kind of hurts. Reminds him of the carnivals he took his kids to, the kind he'll never take them to again. So it might be blowing his cover, but when he does the softball throw, he might be throwing harder than well-targeted.

He's also eyeballing the play shooting galleries, and their stuffed toy prizes, his hands lingering on a blue and purple unicorn. ]

[One thing's for sure: he's not going NEAR that damn carousel. Every time he even glances at it, all he can see is smears and streaks of blood. Yeah, that's out. It's probably obvious the way he keeps his back firmly toward the ride. So much so that he might accidentally bump into someone.

He might not apologize, but he could be talked into going for a ride as a gesture of forgiveness. ]

Something that would happen later, which, if it involves turning people into fucking zombies--again!!!--Frank Castle is not a man who will be responsible for his actions. He's not eating any of it, just noticing all the heart shaped decor and staring at the stuff hard enough to try to see what was wrong with it. ]

[ There's something to be said for knowing what the eventual end result of spending time with Jacinda is and yet not being sure if he'll get there at the same time. At least not here. Because he doesn't remember, he doesn't know what did it for them, what made them fall in love, but it had to be something, whether a rock to the face like his grandparents or climbing a beanstalk together like Emma and Hook. Here, it could be something completely different.

Or, nothing at all.

All he can do is take Emma's advice to be himself. So, after a movie night that included a lot of subtle excuses to hold her hand in between eating popcorn and John Hughes classics, he can't say he isn't excited to take Jacinda to the carnival. Maybe he should be more wary about everything but it's just not in him right now. He believes in this, in the magic (though this time not in the literal sense of magic) and atmosphere. Most of all, he believes in the power of days spent riding rides and walking around a fairground eating cotton candy.

He picks her up around five in the evening so they can wander through the seemingly endless food stalls first, and once they have something travel-friendly to eat (he has a lobster roll because he's apparently from Maine, actually) he walks slowly with her, looking at things. His attire for the evening is a henley and jeans, casual relaxed. ]

So, we could ride a couple rides first. What's your opinion on rollercoasters?

[ It had been about five days and this place was still making her head spin. She had a feeling that that wouldn't stop anytime soon so she was just going with it, if she was good at anything it was making the best out of a crappy situation. The weather turning to spring over night was a new one and she had peppered Henry with questions while they made their way down to the fair. Did seasons always change like this? Where carnivals the norm? Was this an event? How?

The answers always seemed to lead back to one thing- magic. It was jarring going from a world where magic didn't exist to undeniable proof that it did. She could keep arguing it with herself all she wanted but the closets gave her whatever she asked for and food appeared in the dining room out of no where- it was getting harder to deny what was in front of her face. She wanted to believe, she wanted to take a page out of her daughter's book and just believe in it. Maybe Lucy had been right.

Which lead her right to Henry. Henry Mills. Did she think she was under some curse and he was really her husband from another realm- of course not. But she couldn't deny she was falling for him and she had been probably since she met him. He had been so sweet to her since she arrived here, making sure she was ok, taking her to the movies, if she wasn't careful she was going to fall in love with him...and she really couldn't find a reason not to.

She dresses casually for the night, enjoying the fair as they wander, she could almost believe she was back at home doing this. She's finishing off some funnel cake when he asks about ride, she grins. ]

Rollercoasters all the way- the faster the better. [ Did you think she wasn't a thrill seeker? ]

[ Playing any sort of games aren't her forte at all. Sayaka was just having fun simply watching people play all of the carnival games. She's a little nervous about joining in, until she spots a trio of cute rabbit plushies that remind of her pet rabbit, Mimi. Seeing them sparked a flame of desire and she just had to try and win one of them!

So thus she embarked on her mission; to best the hoop throwing game!!! Her eyes were focused on one of the bottles and with a hoop in hand she aims and tosses it. Just when it looked like it was about ready to stay, the hoop goes flying off in a different direction. Sayaka lets out a sigh and looks somewhat frustrated. ]

Ah! So close...

Ferris Wheel

[ Admittedly, she's a little downtrodden due to a recent familiar face arriving into Wonderland. However, she didn't want to let it show too much, especially with a lively occasion such as this! Even if she didn't fully trust what the Red Queen had in store, this carnival couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

All of the rides looked super fun and she couldn't wait to try them all! The one that catches her attention the most is the ferris wheel. Due to how busy she was, she never had a chance to really have fun like this. With the rabbit plush in hand that she had won earlier, she'll turn to anyone that happens to be standing near her. ]

This is my first time riding a ferris wheel. Would you like to ride it with me?

Food

[ Of course, one of the best things about carnivals is the food. Sayaka is practically beaming as she's staring at all of the different flavors of crepes. Her eyes were practically sparkling as she stared back and forth at the different flavors of crepes. All of them sound delicious and she's having an awful hard time making a decision. ]

Ahh, they all look so good. I don't know which one to choose!

[Mikan's mood is also pretty low due to that same familiar face. In fact, she hasn't eaten/slept in days, and was extremely reluctant to go come to the carnival.

There's an empty needle in one of the pockets of her uniform. Just in case.

It's a struggle not to think negatively - could anyone here be persuaded to murder, even though they know about the death rule? Monokuma was a manipulative bastard. He could turn friends against each other. Use people's desperation as a weapon. She never would have believed her classmates would kill each other... but it happened. Then it happened again.

Could it happen here? Can she trust anyone? Can they trust her? Can-

[Oh eff yes. It's been a million years since she went to a real carnival, and this is exactly the kind of noisy distraction she needs right now. Sure, it's a little creepy, because carnivals are kind of inherently creepy, but that's okay. And there's probably gonna be a catch at some point, but...then again, there didn't seem to be any catch the last time Red threw an event. So maybe it's okay?]

[It's at least nice to think that Wonderland can be kind sometimes.]

[Mae generally avoids the games, since she knows how that shit works, but she's all over the rides. The Ferris wheel is a classic that she's gotta ride a couple times, and she absolutely checks out each and every rollercoaster, even though carnival rollercoasters are traditionally pretty unstable. Whatever, she figures if she dies in a rollercoaster accident, that's a helluva story to tell. If there's bumper cars and go-karts she's there as well, wrecking shop.]

[In between rides, she's getting snacks, and probably eating a lot more cotton candy than is healthy.]

[Mikan has been wary of all the rides, now paranoid one or more could be an execution trap. But the carousel... looks pretty harmless. And it has horses. Cute horses. So, shakily, she climbs on top of one, holds tight on the pole, closes her eyes, and... well, it's a carousel, so all the horse does is move up and down.]

... Haaa...? ... Thank goodness! Oh, thank goodness!

[She wants plush toys. There's just one problem... she really, really sucks at these games.]

[Seriously, how did she wind up getting her wrists and ankles bound in plastic rings for ring toss?! There she lays on the ground, writhing like a fish in a net.]

[After not eating for so many days, having all these yummy treats in front of her is like being entered into heaven. She sits at a table with lots of delicious snacks in front of her... but she's not pigging out. She takes one small bite of a funnel cake. Chew, swallow.]

[Mirror Mae didn't participate much in the last event where they were allowed to cross over. Fancy parties aren't her scene. This is much more up her alley.]

[She's carrying her bat like always, even when she's on the rides, which is probably a safety violation or something. She ignores the Ferris wheel, but she's all over the rollercoasters and anything else that's even remotely loud and/or violent. She also checks out the games, mostly just the ones that involve breaking things or knocking things down. The balloon pop game is especially fun. It's nice to work with pointy things now and then.]

[The whole time, Mirror Mae is wearing one of those Hello, My Name Is stickers on the front of her shirt. She's written nothing but "Mirror" on it. She's completely uninterested in deception. If any of these people want to talk to her--and she can't fathom why any of them would--they're going to know exactly what she is.]

[Naoki spots the Mirror near the games and does initially think it's the Real Mae. As he approaches, he notices the tag, though and tilts his head. It's not enough to deter him.]

[This all looks like so much fun! Mirror Rick of course wants in on this! Who wouldn't want to have some fun at such a great-looking carnival? He's gotta remember to try and thank the Red Queen in person--and also the Queen of Hearts for letting them all come over!]

[Mirror Rick is enjoying the hell out of himself, riding all the rides, even the carousel and the teacups, playing every game he can manage, and chowing down on all the delicious food he can. They never have anything like this on the Mirror Side, and he wants to wring out all the fun he possibly can. Especially when it comes to the food--food on the other side is so gosh darn bland.]

[Sans is...dubious. About all of this. The carnival itself is just very noisy and very crowded, and there's a lot of bright lights and such, and it's all kind of overwhelming. Carnivals underground tend to be a whole lot smaller, but this is like some kind of brightly-lit fever dream.]

[And there are Mirrors everywhere--again--which means he can't relax. Not even for a second. He's not going to let what happened during the holidays happen again. The Red Queen didn't mention any sort of protection, which he can only assume means that if he gets stabbed again, he'll actually just die this time. He's keeping a sharp eye out for any obvious Mirrors, but especially Mirror Alphys, Mirrorton, and either of the Mirror skeletons.]

[As time wears on, however, he starts easing into things a bit more. He's largely avoiding the rides, but the Ferris wheel looks like it'd be okay. Even the carousel looks kind of nice, even if all the colors and lights hurt his eyesockets. He's a lot more interested in the food, especially once he discovers that funnel cakes are a thing. Holy shit. Funnel cakes. After that he sort of just ends up hoarding funnel cakes, and can occasionally be spotted pulling a half-eaten funnel cake out of a pocket and eating it like some kind of horrible goblin.]

[He's also completely smitten with the games. It doesn't take him long to realize that some of them are totally rigged, which somehow just adds to the appeal. It feels more like a practical joke than a scam, since there's no real money involved. He'll be telling anyone who comes nearby that a particular game is rigged, in a completely delighted tone.]

Mirror Sans OTA

[Nope. This is all just too much. Too loud, too many lights and sounds and sensations. He's not sure why he's here at all. Papyrus said something about...he can't remember. It's hard to keep thoughts in his head these days.]

[Mirror Sans is very distinct from his Real, wearing baggy clothes with too-long sleeves to hide his hands, and a constant nervous expression. He stays at the outskirts of the carnival, but eventually he does work up the courage to check out the food stands. Once he realizes the vendors are just handing out sweet food for free, and that he doesn't have to ask permission from anyone to eat it, he gathers all the food he can possibly hold and then squirrels himself away in a bush somewhere to eat in peace.]

[The only ride he manages to go anywhere near is the carousel, and once he gets on, he kind of just stays there, riding over and over. It's nice. Noisy, but relaxing.]

[He stays near Mirror Papyrus for almost the entire time, and the rare times that he does get separated from his brother, he can be found rooted to the spot, looking lost and terrified.]

This will be Chloe's first spring in Wonderland, and she feels a sense of relief when she wakes up to find the endless snow gone and replaced with a sprawling carnival. It is the kind of thing she would have jumped at taking Trixie to, partially because she would have really enjoyed it herself, so she decides to take advantage of it and turn an afternoon outing into a much overdue date with Lucifer.

So far, it is going better than she expected. Chloe mostly tried to steer him towards the food and a few games (heavily implying, of course, that it would be romantic if he won her one of the stuffed animal prizes), and as dinner time rolls around they start to peruse more filling food options. It's then that Chloe spots Georgia and, of course, Shaun in tow. Georgia is peering into a food stall at something, her patently expressionless face half-hidden by her sunglasses.

"Hey, George!" Chloe speeds ahead of Lucifer just a little, expecting him to follow her as she comes up next to her friend. Her gaze follows George's, landing on a bucket of friend... Bugs? Chloe makes a pained face, her mouth dropping open as she lifts her gaze back to Georgia. "Please do not tell me you're actually planning on eating... Whatever that is."

Ah, pre-rising people. Totally okay with eating hamburgers, but grossed out by a couple of bugs. She raises an eyebrow and pulls a batter-covered cricket out of the bucket. “I know, it’s so much oil, but that’s traditional for carnival food.” She shrugs and pops it in her mouth, then glances over at Shaun. “Has nothing on your tacos, but they’re good.”

The vendors, silent and masked, bear eerie resemblances to things better off not dwelled upon. Nothing about this, actually, seems like much of a good idea - heights, speeding rides, bright lights, crowds, Mirrors, and all coupled with the rich smell of unfamiliar food. But all the same, this is where he's most likely to pick up on some answers.

And hearts again. Red, this time - not white. That might be significant.

So, a carnival it is. He can't say he's ever been in a situation even remotely similar to this, with the smattering of soaring lights and signs of bright, blinking neon. It's too loud, too fast, too many people packed together all at once. And too many Mirrors, too, darting past in blurs of familiar faces.

He contemplates one of the roller coasters, unlikely to actually commit to willingly getting on the ride without considerable urging, largely preferring to try his luck at one of the many games in the hopes of scoring a prize that might point to an answer or two. He's not that bad a shot, either, toppling handfuls of tin cans with well-placed tennis balls, and in the process winning something completely horrifying.

Maybe he'll set fire to it later. For now, he won't blame you if you find yourself regarding that stuffed monstrosity like it might start stalking you in your sleep.

[Kokichi is having way too much fun here, running back and forth through the obstacles and making faces at the mirrors. If someone walked through more than once, they might be convinced that this gremlin lives here.]

[This is perhaps the nicest event they've had in a while, and it should be exciting but... Asriel just isn't feeling any of it. How can he even think about enjoying himself, when Chara and his mom are gone?

What if he has fun and someone else he knows disappears? How can he really enjoy any of this?

Why did he even come?

The only thing he feels like doing is wandering the festival. Anyone can find him browsing the food stands, checking out the ferris wheel and bumper cars, but he looks unsure of trying anything.]

[Mirror Asriel]

[While Mirror Asriel is completely indistinguishable from his Real, there's an genuine excitement at yet again being able to go play and meet some new Real friends. His energy is completely opposite from that of his Real, and like the Christmas party, he's going to enjoy every second of this.

Starting with the food, and then the rides.

Anyone passing by might find Asriel, face buried in some cotton candy. His snout is practically dyed pink and blue.]

Did you know they make cotton into candy? It's soooo good, you gotta try it!

[At least, Mirror Asriel finds his Real in a crowd. It's not that Asriel's never seen Mirrors before - there were plenty of them at Christmas - but that didn't mean it was any less jarring to see someone who looks exactly like you to come running towards you.

And his Mirror is so... so... bouncy. Is... this what Wonderland thought of him as?

While his Mirror enthusiastically introduces himself, explains that he was trying to contact Asriel for AGES, Real Asriel barely has any time to process it before his Mirror grabs his arm and drags him off while promising a day of fun.

So now there's two Asriels wandering the carnival, one far more excited about all of this than the other. Mirror Asriel starts pointing out the rides to his Real.]

[Asriel seems to be wandering around lost, not really certain of where he's headed when an unfamiliar hand plops down unexpectedly on top of his head.

Glancing up, he'd be met with a tall woman, an elf if the pointed ears meant anything to him, her long hair pulled off to the side in an elaborate braid.]

1. Figuring things out

[ A body. A body! She's got a body!

It took her barely seconds to decide to go out to the carnival the moment the Red Queen gave her this gift, but she's quickly learning how disorienting it is. She's having to think about things she never did before. Walking. Seeing. Hearing. Talking. Feeling.

Ahhhhh!

Unlike most people who'd be going straight for the fun like games or rides, Monika's unsteadily walking around and trying out her senses. It's strange to feel a breeze, to take in the warmth from the sun, to know the textures of the things she touches. And so many sounds! So many smells! It's overwhelming, but she's loving every bit of it.

This is probably the happiest moment of her horrible existence, and it shows. She's picking things up or randomly saying words. Sometimes she wiggles her fingers. She's constantly shaking her head around to feel her hair shiver around her. Monika Five is alive.

She's going to take these seven days and make the most of them! ]



2. FOOOOOOOD

[ Eventually, it dawned on her. SHE COULD EAT. Not fake pixellated food, but actual food!

Monika spent nearly an hour gathering up all the food and drinks she could find and has carefully assembled everything onto a table. She's sitting in front of an almost literal pile of the stuff, trembling with excitement. Half of it is cold and what was frozen has mostly melted, but she doesn't care. There's everything you'd expect to find at a carnival, as well as a few things people probably shouldn't be eating. Whatever, she's curious.

She decides to start with the cupcakes. ]



3. So much regret

[ In retrospect, she should've known this would happen. Give her a break, though. She's not used to being able to eat.

She's also not used to the consequences of eating so much.

She's laying in front of the fountain in the gardens, motionless, because she couldn't make it much further. She's hating her life as much as she loves it. It's great! And terrible.

[Between the festivities, Jason's taken it upon himself to handle some cleanup. Parties are all well and good, but there's invariably someone who had too much too quickly. When he finds Monika settled inert on the fountain, he kneels down beside her and lifts her hand tentatively.]

[Kiyotaka Ishimaru is in attendance! He's dressed in his usual school uniform and acting as formal as ever, but this seemed like a good chance to be outgoing. He hadn't really checked the network recently, having spent most of the past week cooped up in the library, studying hard to mimic midterm studies. He just happened to catch the Red Queen's announcement when checking the device this morning and figured that his friends would want him to take a break!

And so here he is, wandering the grounds, while looking a bit lost in figuring out how to have fun.

He can be found by the rides and games, trying to figure out which of them he should try out! Or you can find him checking out the snacks, though he'll focus on trying to obtain the healthier choices!

Or he can be found overlooking the donation box, contemplating whether or not to donate the word in question!]

Mirrors

[Georgia is as always, business first, and her current line of business lately has been talking to Mirrors. Time to see if she can make some more progress now that they're all in one place, especially after she's made her particular position clear.

She spends a lot of time around the funhouse with its warped and crazy mirrors. There's a certain poetry to it that she enjoys. Seems as good a place as any to find, well, mirrors willing to get in on her warped and crazy plan.

She has her notebooks. She has her recording devices. She's ready to rock.]

Mysteries

[The hearts don't make sense. Georgia frowns as she examines some of the decorations, muttering notes into her handheld mp3 recorder. Unlike the winter party, this time there is someone taking credit for the event. The Red Queen. Not the Queen of Hearts. And sure, the hearts are red, but still. It's... odd.]

If Hearts weren't so easily offended, I'd wonder if Red was trying to appease her or something.

[But the Queen of Hearts is more likely to get mad at the Red Queen for using her thing, not be pleased by their inclusion. So why the fuck did she put hearts everywhere?]

Meals

[She's not all business. Occasionally Georgia takes a break to get food and wander the fair. She hasn't been to carnivals very often. They're not entirely unheard of in the post-Rising world, at least, if you're willing to pay a lot and sign enough wavers to wallpaper a room, and the Mason parents were nothing if not willing to spend money and risk their children for the sake of giving them as close to a pre-Rising childhood as possible and getting it all on film. They'd been to carnivals. But they were pretty different than this. The roller coasters here don't even require blood tests to open the restraints!

She wanders around with a carton of deep fried crickets she's picked up from one of the vendors, taking in the sights. It's not impossible she'll actually try a ride. But she may need to be talked into it.]

[Dipper is standing, staring at one of the games.

It's one of those ones with balls and bottles to knock down and cool prizes. Dipper's familiar with it. He's played before. He knows how this ends.

....he thinks of the tape measure hiding under his bed. But... no. Probably not worth it.

[Dipper is adventurous as always. There are so many rides here that look varying levels of unsafe, and there is no height limit! He's gonna ride them all. He grins crazily, and anyone who looks a little reluctant gets an excited wave.]

Maybe seven or so, it's the last time she remembers going to a fair, and she can't think of a better way to re-experience a fair for the first time than with Dipper. Also, they haven't been on like a date in a really long time... really long. Not that she's sure if this is a date or not, they haven't really talked about all that. )

[After that message from the Red Queen, Ben was both curious and suspicious enough to pack his own food in a small shoulder bag at his side and head out to the festivities.]

1. Fun & Games

[Like the others proficient in firearms, Ben has a relatively easy time with the air rifles and he will be happy to deliver prizes won to anyone who wants them!

Throwing hoops over bottles though? He's awful at it. Awful enough that it becomes futile as soon as it becomes a point of obsession to reclaim his honor, and he eventually gives up for something else. He's average with darts, and passable with skeeball.

Eventually, he wanders back to what he's good at: The shooting games.]

2. Food

[Ben has a small bag filled with apples and a canteen of water, purely out of suspicion of the Red Queen's words. He's had his fill of duplicitous illusions lately, although parties and 'events' thrown by the Red Queen have so far been safe to take at face value. True events are far more unpredictable. It won't stop him erring on the side of caution though.

And yet, Ben finds himself in the middle of stalls upon stalls of foods both foreign and familiar, all catching his interest with sights and smells both delightful and strange. In particular, the sweet temptation of honey-roasted squash, roasted apples, sugar cakes, blueberry tarts, roasted chicken and pigeon and lamb...

You can catch him perusing the stalls, or perhaps after the point he's caved when he's enjoying a hunk of herb roasted mutton like he's not had since his childhood.

Ben's food palette is still woefully(?) 18th century, so he might be inclined to try new things if anyone could convince him.]

3.a. Ferris Wheel

[Ben stares up at the towering wheel, wondering why anyone would ever willingly board such a rickety-looking mechanical structure.

Which is exactly he's tempted to at least try...]

3.b. Rollercoaster

[...Ben can find less appeal with this monstrosity. He can't help but wonder out loud:] Is that even safe? I think I'd prefer not to die today.

[But again. He could be convinced. Curiosity is a powerful thing and, after all, the wheel was fine!]

4. MISC.

[Ben can be found around the carnival exploring throughout. Pull him into the fun house or challenge him to a contest of strength!

After he rides the rollercoaster, he will be very ill and not up for much of anything, except for some comforting probably. He's never gone faster than a galloping horse, what was he even thinking?!

[ peggy's commentary is offered in a mild tone. she'd been strolling by when she caught sight of him trying his luck (and skill) at getting rings over bottles. and she supposes it's been long enough since they last spoke.

although she's quick to discuss it, she makes no effort to reach for a hoop of her own. ]

Well, that and I can almost guarantee that a game like this has been rigged. [ a beat. ] Or I would have if they weren't offering their turns for free. But anything of its like on Coney Island certainly would have been.

[ it's tuesday. and, ordinarily, that would be a rather dull fact indeed -- except that it's tuesday and peggy carter is banging a fist on the door to mister hunter's quarters. on wednesdays (the day upon which she's far far more likely to show up), she doesn't knock at all. but it's tuesday, as we've already established, and so she knocks.

her knock is a lively one. urgent, but not panicked.

the carnival outside had been curious enough in its own right. another funny little attempt at cross-dimensional diplomacy, or so it seemed on the surface. and although peggy had taken the weekend to peek at the games and food and exhibits on display, she'd walked the grounds like an observer -- turning friendly only when crossing paths with people whose company she enjoyed. but that changed on monday when some measure of fuss surrounded the appearance of a donation box. she'd taken someone else's report of a similar box before christmas. peggy hadn't seen that one with her own eyes; on that particular occasion, she had found herself otherwise distracted.

and now she knocks hard on her distraction's door. on a tuesday. at 11:46 in the morning. she'd thought she could wait until wednesday, thought she could supersede their usual diversions for a bit of investigating, but over breakfast that morning she decided the only real sin was to wait. ]

[Naturally Rip is aware of the carnival that seems to have popped up out of nowhere; he's even ventured out into it, briefly, to see if there was anything of note. Yet if there is something nefarious lurking beneath the surface, he has yet to be made aware of it. By all appearances it truly is the fun and good time that was promised.

It can't be much surprise, then, to learn that Rip has decided not to spend additional time among the rides and the frivolities. "Fun" isn't exactly something he's known for, after all, and any changes would no doubt warrant some posting over the network. He sets about his normal business instead, right up until the moment there's a rapid knocking upon his door. Rip's not expecting anyone, so naturally he's curious as to just who has decided to visit—

And even moreso when he sees Peggy standing there. On a Tuesday.]

Miss Carter? [The question is obvious in his voice, even as habit has Rip stepping back to allow her inside. He frowns, immediately concerned. While under normal circumstances he would be pleased to see her, he can't think of anything good that would have brought her more than a whole day before their routine engagement.] Is everything quite alright?

(They are uncertain if Shepard-Commander’s mirror will approach them on her own. Thus, when they discover that the barrier between the Real and Mirror sides of Wonderland has been removed, they cross over and seek her out.

Mostly this just entails poking their head into their corresponding room on the other side to check if she’s there, followed by climbing through and checking the room corresponding to Shepard-Commander’s, as well as other rooms, if she’s not. )

(They had previously been alerted to their mirrors existence and personality. There is no valuable data to be gained here. Thus, they get up from where their mirror had shoved them into the donation box and begin to walk away.)

It's when he looks back and sees another Legion with that horrible laughter shoving the real one against that suspicious box that Mettaton quickens his pace until he's up to the two and looking absolutely furious at the mirror.]

I shouldn't be surprised that you're here to cause trouble, but could you, for once, back off?
