Who: Legion, You
Where: Various
When: Event
Rating: PG13-R
Summary: Legion is immune to indoctrination, but that doesn't mean they cant (unknowingly) spread it.
The Story:
A) Early Event (checkerboard hills)
They're out there, at the minimum safe distance, prepared to do what they must to stop others from approaching the Old Machine.
If possible, they will attempt to intercept those people and 'talk them out of it'.
If this is not possible, they will attempt to chase them away with their combat drone.
Though they have their sniper rifle with them, they would prefer to avoid using it if at all possible. It is unsuitable for non lethal encounters.
B) Mid Event (Mansion, Grounds)
Unfortunately, their efforts were insufficient. They have given up diverting others from approaching the Reaper, and are instead focused on preventing exposure to Reaper technology.
Unfortunately, they do not realize that they themselves qualify as technology that should be avoided.

A!
"Legion! Here to investigate that ship too?"
no subject
"Negative. It is not a spaceship, it is an Old Machine. Organics know them as Reapers."
They chatter unhappily. Listen to that unhappy chatter.
"Approach is extremely ill advised. The Old Machines used us, and attempted to enslave our people. The Geth were lost in the process of destroying them."
They look at their gun. "We are here to prevent others from approaching."
no subject
"A Reaper?"
A Reaper. A real, honest-to-the-rune Reaper. Here. In Wonderland? He looks at it in the Checkerboard Hills for a moment before turning his attention back to Legion.
"It's just sitting there. I thought they destroyed planets and people? Is it dead?"
no subject
They consider Mettaon's questions for a moment.
"It is likely. However, even when destroyed, the Old Machines influence the minds of those in contact with them. We have witnessed this."
They look at the Reaper again, then back to Mettaton.
He does not understand. They will attempt to enlighten him.
"Do you wish to be made to combat your allies and used until you are destroyed?"
no subject
He looks at the Reaper again, eyes narrowed. He doesn't feel any magic coming off of it, so it can't be influencing people in that sense.
"It doesn't make sense that if it's dead it continues to influence people."
no subject
After a moment, they play an audio recording.
"Chandana said the ship was dead. We trusted him. He was right. But even a dead god can dream. A god — a real god — is a verb. Not some old man with magic powers. It's a force. It warps reality just by being there. It doesn't have to want to. It doesn't have to think about it. It just does. That's what Chandana didn't get. Not until it was too late. The god's mind is gone but it still dreams. He knows now. He's tuned in on our dreams. If I close my eyes I can feel him. I can feel every one of us."
And now that they've shared that deeply disturbing memory, they elaborate.
"There was a team of scientists from the organization Cerberus on board a derelict Reaper that we had been tasked to acquire data from. After succumbing to indoctrination, they impaled themselves upon spikes, and were transformed into husks."
no subject
"That's... that's awful. The Reaper did all of that? Even though it was dead?"
It's beyond his comprehension, especially as a monster. Beyond leaving behind dust, the idea that a body could continue to influence long after life had departed was a completely alien concept to him.
no subject
They are glad to see his horror. Perhaps now he will avoid the greater horror of indoctrination.
"Even after extended contact with their minds, the Reapers remain unknowable. Though we do not worship them, we understand why others do."
no subject
"And these are the things you fought back home? How did you do it?"
no subject
"Shepard-Commander's code is superior. Even so, losses were considerable."
Like, you know, their entire people.
"We are a relict."
B!
Painting has no longer worked. Maybe some conversation will help instead.
They notice Legion and smile. Somehow they seem to be...more drawn to them. Must be the signals messing around with their mind again. Nevertheless, they approach their friend.
"Legion," they greet, trying to put on a smile. "I've heard everything from the Commander a few days ago. I've been keeping my distance from that ship, but..." they trail off. "A-Anyway, how are you holding up?"
no subject
"Have you disconnected from the network?"
This concerns them. They do not wish for their allies to become indoctrinated.
no subject
Which feels weird, considering that before this event, they were always connected to the network. Now more than ever, they feel more...lost. It's better than the alternative, at least.
...even though those voices are slowly but surely starting to come back.
"This ship also came from your world, yes? The Reapers...I can't believe this is what you and Commander had to face."
no subject
"You are correct. Our people were lost in the effort to destroy them."
A distressing topic to bring up (especially since Turing saw what that did to them) but one that serves admirably to emphasize the danger.
no subject
"I still cannot fathom how horrifying this must be for you. This..."
They trail off. The voices are getting louder. They're becoming more enticing. Maybe they ought to just take...a quick peek at the ship again?
They very quickly shake their head, as if that will get rid of the voices.
"Sorry, it's getting hard to concentrate."
no subject
Though distressed, our emotions do not currently match those commonly described as horror.
(The restoration of the Reapers is a violation of everything they stand for.
More importantly though, they are concerned.)
Turing. The only cure for indoctrination is death. We reccommend avoiding this outcome.
