Food and Fun - OPEN Gathering!
Who: Everyone!
Where: Outside on the grounds, near the gardens
When: Saturday, August 11th
Rating: G! If you take it to an extreme sexy or extreme sad place, please warn in the subject line!
Summary: Liv and Papyrus host Wonderland's Inagural Inter-planetary Fod Festival!
The Story:

The stage has been set for everyone to have food from all over time and space, and Liv is possibly a little more excited about this than she should be. Her message with Papyrus didn't seem to drum up a ton of interest when they made their announcement, but she's hoping like hell this actually goes somewhere.
There's a table with Sharpie pens and little cards to write the name of the dish, main ingredients, and where it came from (plus the bringer's dish if they want) and three huge coolers filled with ice and various drinks like bottled water, juice boxes, soda, and beer for the adults (that one's labeled on top). Cutlury, napkins, and cups are taken care of! There's also music playing, the equivalent to what might as well be a random Pandora station not set on one specific genre of music. It easily goes from an Adele song to the Spice Girls and back around to something by Adam Lavine.
All that's really left, is for Liv to sit back and enjoy the day.
[ OOC: This is, obviously, a gathering post! Please top level, tag around, and have fun! ]

chloe decker, ota;
She scribbled onto a card and left it from of the plate:
My Favorite Grilled Cheese
Egg
Cheese
Hawaiian bread
(Chloe Decker, Earth, 2016)
Everyone once in a while she would drift by the plate, just to see if anyone was partaking and - more importantly - if it's being enjoyed.
[ For Lucifer ]
Eventually, Chloe comes back around to her own food and snatches one of the sandwiches off the plate. It doesn't take her long to find Lucifer perusing the choices himself and she comes up behind him, slipping to his side and offering the sandwich to him on a paper plate.
"Special delivery."

"Ah, so I do get to partake in the results of your distraction today."
By distraction, he obviously means distracting her from him, but he allowed it for once. Or, at least, he didn't bother her enough to keep her from finishing it.
no subject
"I thought good food would be worth it," she replies with a cheeky grin, pushing herself up on her toes to give him an affectionate peck on the cheek. "I debated even making these but you know... It felt right."
Doing anything that reminded her of her father is still a little raw, but opening up about it more and more did seem to help.
no subject
"Well, as much as I sometimes hate to admit it, your instincts are usually correct."
Of course, he only hated to admit it when she was wrong and he wasn't, but that didn't happen quite so much anymore with the lack of cases, murders, and robberies in Wonderland.
"I'm still not sure I get the point of all of this, however."
no subject
That is absolutely an overstatement, but no matter how much she loves him, she is never going to back down when it comes to the "who's right and who's wrong" argument. Both their egos are too big to settle that one.
"You mean, what's the point of a potluck? Are you serious?"
no subject
"Chloe!! Your take on the grilled cheese should be hailed as an all-American classic by now."
no subject
The ambush means Chloe doesn't have time to hide her look of surprise. After their last interaction, Chloe was fairly certain Leslie would never come near her again, but apparently unyielding optimism also made for second chances.
"I, uh, thanks. I've loved these since I was a kid. There was a place that made them back in LA but figuring out how to make them at home wasn't too hard."
no subject
"Well, they're amazing, and possibly the only food to bridge my love of breakfast foods to literally anything else."
And all because of one single egg.
"I like that it's a real memory for you, that it means something. Mine's literally just my favorite food. I couldn't think of anything else, and waffles are perfect, so."
no subject
"Yeah, it does mean something," she says, thoughtfully. There's much more to the sandwiches than what she'll let on, but being able to bring them here to share with everyone in Wonderland has been a big step for her.
"But there's nothing wrong with something just being your favorite," she adds. "I love making breakfast for my kid. Waffles are pretty time consuming, though, so between work and school we tend to stick with eggs and toast."
no subject
But Leslie circles back, her face actually looking a little more sympathetic. "You have a kid? Is...he or she here?" She's met a few children via the network, but honestly? She doesn't think this is a place for kids at all. It's one thing for full-grown adults capable of taking care of themselves to be subjected to all kinds of torture. But what'd kids ever do?
no subject
Chloe knows Wonderland has its fair share of kids running around, and she feels bad for them. It isn't a place for kids at all, and as much as she misses her daughter, given the choice? There is no way in hell she would bring her here.
Still, there is a softness that touches Chloe's features when she thinks about her daughter, her defenses going down a little. She may not be great at people-pleasing, but that kid is her world, even while she's trapped in Wonderland.
"Her name is Trixie. She's eight. And she would probably wholeheartedly agree with you about breakfast food, but only if that included chocolate cake."
no subject
"I just got married, so no kids yet. But I work a lot to make sure playgrounds are fun and safe back home, so I talk to a lot of them about what they like about the parks or what they want to see in them. KInd of makes me want one or two." Three would be insanity, right?
no subject
"And that is exactly the kind of logic she would use to sway me on chocolate cake. It doesn't work, though."
At least not with Chloe; Trixie's dad, however, is a total pushover.
"I hadn't really put a lot of thought into having kids until Trixie came along. I honestly don't know if I can handle another one, and I'm really glad I didn't try to with my ex." Dan was inattentive enough as it was and left Chloe pulling most of the weight, even when they were married. It was one of the huge factors in their separation. "You should think about it, though. It sounds like you're really good with kids."
no subject
VERY INTERESTED in debating it, mostly because she's had to have the same debate with Ben. Multiple times. But then the conversation swings into having babies and Leslie laughs a little nervously.
"I mean, I like kids, and I love knowing I can help make them happy but full time? A mom full time? I...I don't know. It sounds crazy. Is it crazy?"
no subject
Too bad for Trixie that her mom would not remember this when she goes home.
"If you're worried about the whole having a career and being a mom thing? I'm not going to say its easy but it's possible. I was a beat cop when I had Trixie and I made it to detective by the time she was five or six." She waves a little, hoping she isn't sounding like one of Those Moms. "Not to say I don't have my doubts, you know? I'm a single parent now, so juggling that and work and my divorce, it's a lot to take on, I guess. Sometimes I definitely think I can do better by her, but I feel like most parents feel that way at one point or another."
no subject
"My mom raised me alone after my dad died and she was really good at it! She's in politics too and has always been one-third of my inspiration with the other two being Madeline Albright Michelle Obama who recently leap-frogged ahead of Hillary Clinton." But Hillary is still in her top five, so it's fine.
"I think it's just...not knowing what kind of mom I'd be. I want to be a fun mom, but I want my kids to be smart and respectful and understand the world without being super terrified of it. I think single moms are superheroes, by the way."
no subject
Chloe wishes she had that kind of relationship with her mom. She'd always been closer to her dad; her mom was overbearing and yet inattentive, and Chloe never felt like anything she did was good enough for her. Penelope Decker was impulsive, and selfish, and oblivious... All of the things Chloe strove not to be.
"My dad died when I was 19. My mom and I never really, uh, got each other." Chloe didn't exactly make an effort to not be like her mom, but she didn't go out of her way to emulate her, either. "If it helps, I don't think anyone knows what kind of parent they'll be until they are one, honestly. Trixie was a... Surprise, so I was pretty nervous. But from what I've seen of you? I bet you'd be great at it."
no subject
"You sound like you're crazy about Trixie, so I'm pretty comfortable saying you sound like an excellent mom. Maybe, if I ever go home and come back and it's happened, I can ask you for some advice."
no subject
Penelope had a lot of hopes for Chloe that never actualized. She pushed her into acting, and Chloe resisted as long as she could until she took the same job that had killed her father. But her mom had also taken care of her and let her and Trixie move into her house when Chloe and Dan separated.
That had to count for something.
"I am crazy about her." She takes a moment to smile affectionately, giving herself a rare moment to linger on how much she missed her daughter. "I honestly hope that doesn't happen to you. But if it does? I can't promise good advice, but I'm always willing to talk."
no subject
"Hey, do you like breakfast food?" she asks randomly. "Because I do, and every now and then I like to hit up the diner for a good waffle. You should come sometime. You can fill me in on all the crazy stuff that's happened here."
no subject
Chloe might be one of the most socially awkward people in the universe, but she also knows that whole pony/mini-horse was a massive miss-step. That said, this conversation seemed to go well enough, and maybe it is time for her to bring Trixie out more to help Chloe come off as less, well... Chloe.
"I mean, yeah. That would be nice."
no subject
This is how she'd gotten into Ann's good graces and eventually become her best friend in the entire country, so. Leslie's pretty confident this will work.
no subject
Leslie seems like the most unlikely person you would ever see at Lux but, to be fair, Chloe also looks like the most unlikely person to be seen at Lux. They could both be awkward and blonde together?
no subject
"Thanks, Chloe, I'll keep that in mind. See you around!"
