Who: Jane & Kurt Weller
Where: The lake.
When: 9/9, early evening
Rating: PG-13 idk folks the marrieds may get frisky
Summary: Jane and Kurt go fishing.
The Story:
[ Jane's had this in mind for a while. She knows that Kurt used to go fishing with Taylor, that it's a memory he'd rather not think about. But she knows fishing and camping were both his favorite things, so she texts him to meet her at the lake. When he arrives, he'll see her set up with chairs, two poles, bait, and an ice chest full of beer.
She grins when she sees him coming, wearing a very dorky bucket hat as she holds out a pole to him. ]
You're going to take our daughter fishing, so I need to learn how.

You're going to take our daughter fishing, so I need to learn how.

Good look for you.

You think it's cute?
[ Jane's teasing, pressing her hand on top of the hat. ]
I thought you'd like it.
no subject
You're cute.

And now, you have to teach me how to fish, husband of mine.
no subject
We start with the bait.
[ He shows her what to do, taking the bait and getting it set on the hook. ]
no subject
She does as he does, watching him and baiting her hook as well. ]
I want you to know that while I'm not opposed to this, it's disgusting.
no subject
All the stuff you've done in your life, and baiting a hook with a worm puts you over the edge?
no subject
[ She teases and leans in to kiss him softly, smiling against his mouth. ]
I'd still go fishing with you any time, though.
no subject
Thank you for this.

[ She knows he's worried. She knows that what happened to Claire puts him on edge because it could happen to anyone, but if there's one thing she's learned from fighting her brother it's that she can't run from things anymore, and she can't be afraid to live her life with Kurt.
So, they're fishing. ]
Do we just throw the hook part into the water and wait? Is that all there is to it?
no subject
[ He demonstrates so she knows it's not a matter of just dropping the line in the water. Pulling his arm back a little and then releasing, he settles in now, waiting for a fish to take the bait. ]
Like that.

Will you teach our daughter to fish?
no subject
I'll teach her everything I know.
no subject
[ Jane smiles and kisses his shoulder softly before looking up at him again. ]
What if...
[ She pauses, realizing this may not go over as well as she thought in her mind. ]
What if we name her Emma?
no subject
Emma.

I've been imagining our life. Maybe we move out of the city to someplace quiet. I can have a garden, and our little girl can have a tree house. That you build, of course.
[ She grins and rests her head on his shoulder. ]
Maybe I figure out how to bake the best cookies and we have a porch we sit on and drink cold beers at night.

[ As her head comes to rest on his shoulder, he smiles and kisses her hair. ]
You've got this all planned out really good.
no subject
[ Her future is simple when it comes to Kurt: happiness, no more risking their lives because of her or her family. ]
no subject
[ It's so far from their lives in New York City, though. ]
no subject
[ She messed up Colorado, she knows that, but she'll never mess up anything again. ]
I don't think it sounds crazy.
no subject
[ There's a hint of a smile on his face as he just thinks through this. ]

[ She'd paid off everything from when he'd spent two years looking for her and there's still a hefty amount left. If she can spend it on building something with him rather than paying for his grief over her disappearance, she wants to. ]
Something with a porch swing. I want that. A big wooden porch.
